A DAWN, THE BEGINNING. This is the one event which began the a thousand and one journey
LOVE-- This four letter words of a very strong feeling. It is said that at the touch of love, everyone becomes a poet, and every mood is magical for someone who is touched by it. His smile, body language changes, even bitter leaf tastes sweet in his mouth at the moment. We all have our stories to tell, books to write our own love stories on and as a matter of facts, the ones which has a happy ending either fiction or non fiction. This I also know, we all have some moments when we pray for something miraculous to happen to us and each day we long for it to happen, and then we wait, we wait for it to happen, no matter how far it takes. Love stories have its beginnings, just as everything does, and sometimes it comes like a camouflage depending on how the individual perceives and embrace it. Well, in summary, Love indeed is the most beautiful virtue God gave mankind.
My love story started unprepared on a fateful Thursday morning, 14th April 2005, the kind of day time can never erase. I woke up from the warm bed only to remember that I had used the last reserved water to bath the previous night. Gosh! I have to quickly look for any nearby building to fetch water from a well since the tap hadn't run for a week. It was 6:10 a.m and I had to leave for work by 6:55a.m at most.
Approaching a nearby well, two buildings after my residential bulging, I saw a young lady fetching water that early dawn. Thank goodness I could quickly use her fetching pail to draw some water in the two buckets I came with, since I didn't come with a pail (I didn't have any).
"Good morning, please can i--" I haven't completed my sentence when she turned, smiled and poured the water the drew from the well into my bucket. I was puzzled, maintained my calm as she filled the buckets I came along with to the brim, so fast.
"Thank you so much". I said, pleasantly to her as I bent to lift the buckets and walked away from the scene. As I got to my compound gate, I made a quick turn and saw her standing looking at me, I could see the fascinating smile even at dawn. Immediately I felt an emotional wind, so real that I wanted to go back to meet her but I remembered that I had been late for work for four times in that month, and I'd be issued a query letter if I signed late the fifth time, that's the organisation rule.
The scene at the well at dawn was short, quite a brief moment but a memory on my mind throughout the day which changed my attitude at work entirely as I became hyperactive, few uneasy moments in trying to get the lady's face. I could remember when I sketched an imaginary look of her on the desk paper. That was certainly love at first sight I pondered which made me want to see her again. The next morning as usual, I woke up with same first routine, getting water for bathing. I didn't bother to check whether the tap was running as I dashed out quickly to the same well, looking from my gate to the position of the well, I saw the shape of a lady.
"That's her again!" silently I said to myself in ecstasy. I increased the pace of my movement so as to meet up with her before she leaves the spot, consequently, I don't have a fetched and more importantly, I just needed to see her face again, this time around have a proper conversation with her. Gosh! I left my mobile phone on the bed. How on earth can I cram eleven digits in few minutes?
