With him trailing behind her, they got the marriage certificate fast. " I have to go back home to attend to some business deal, but here is my personal number, call it, " he said, handing her back her phone. She saved it as my husband, and showed him grinning, before heading to her car. Work was fast and she got home, she find her parent were still home. Her mother grin at her. "I am surprised, I expected you to come home and lash at us, but this morning nothing" Her mother spoke up, seeing her daughter smiling instead of being sad. " Why should I cry mother? " Kaylee question. "Did Alex not end things? " Her mother question. "Or, in order words, did you not pay my ex to end things " Kaylee corrected. " It's still the same thing, he left you for money, I only help you to see his true colors," her mother boasted. "Well, Alex was never the one, he didn't have a spine in the first place and unlike him, I found someone better " Kaylee proudly stated. " Did I not tell you, she was a w***e, jumping from one man to another, that's why she Xavier never loved her, " her mother spat out. " Well, we win never find out, and mother, I am not whoring around, I am actually married, " Kaylee said calm, now flaunting her marriage certificate. "And the marriage was consumated, so don't worry, he is also very rich, I like to see how you pay him off" She smirk, seeing her parent defeated face. "You ruined everything, a chance to a better future," her father yelled in fury, his hands hitting her. "Is this guy richer than the one we plan, you are not my daughter, I never gave birth to a stubborn witch like you " her mom follow. "Good, I am cutting ties with you, you don't think I will stay with you after getting married right," Kaylee question. " I don't even asked your last name anymore," she muttered. Going upstairs to pack, she wasn't expecting the slap, neither was she expecting her mother to use her ex husband name, but still, seeing their fury and how defeated they are, only made her happy. She left, with both parents yelling behind her. " You will come back begging," her mother called, but Kaylee only raise the middle finger on them. Michael Butler was outside waiting for her, she had texted him about needing a place to stay and he had helped her with it. Giving her his place. "Thank you," she texted with her phone ringing. "So, how was breaking your news to your parents " his asked, trying to seems distance but Kaylee could hear his curiosity in his tone. "Perfect, I got to watch their helpless expression" Kaylee answered, seating on the kitchen counter. "My mom threw a rampage, but I told her she wanted a rich daughter in law and she got one, now they think you are some paid actress " Michael explained. "Do you want me to come over, show them I am real and ready for them" she offered. "That would be perfect, and then I will come and see your parents, maybe come in a parade, fleets of car and the rest" Michael boasted. "So that on my birthday, I know they will still celebrate it and will try to invite the suitor they had pick for me, to get me to change my mind" "Alright, I will arrange for you to come meet my mom, I want to see how long you can hold on, if you are really capable, my mom hates when things don't go their way" "Surprised you haven't gone low contact with her" " Oh I do, sorry for cutting you short, just some times she visit unexpectedly," "Well, you are going to pay me with food, lots of it" Kaylee stated with excitement. "I will even cook for you, dear wife of mine" he softly called, sending a screenshot of how he saved her number. " I see what you did there, copying me," Kaylee teased. "Well, let's get down to the terms of this marriage, so I will prepare it and then when you come over, you will sign it" Michael suggested. " Okay, I say we sleep separate when they are not around " Kaylee stated. " Why, do you snore," he teased. "So funny," Kaylee muttered, causing him to laugh. "I think there should be no falling in love rule," "So cliche, yuck" Kaylee snaps. "You have an issue with it" Michael question. "Of course I do" her response came in quick. "First, it's too cliche in every book and the character always ends up falling in love, second, It won't be bad if we have feelings for ourselves after three years, come on, we are not stone and also it will only pain our parents more" she breaks down. "I feel we should have terms or conditions but rather a motto, which says, JUST WING IT" "falling in love, don't fall in love, have partners outside, just do what makes you happy, we didn't marry the partner our parents chose so we will have a sense of freedom, so why are we then putting chains around our hands" She went on. "I don't know about this marriage, but I know I want to be free" she finish. Michael pause, there was no denying that he wasn't interested in her. She was bold, bold enough to come to him and suggest such marriage, and then she was so beautiful, looking elegant and delicate, her blue eyes have only added to such description. "You said you were married once, what happened?" Michael finally asked, he could sense the shift in mood, even though he wasn't with her, he could tell the smile have left her face. " He died," Kaylee finally said. "I meant, what happened that he couldn't try loving someone as beautiful as you " Michael push further. "There are topic that shouldn't be spoken about, and this is one of them" Kaylee mumbled, before yawning and stating the need to sleep.
