(Mathias’ pov)
Keeping an eye on Madison and tracking her scent, I watched as she snuck outside for a run. Excusing myself to the restroom, I ran into the forest and shifted to Zander, making it easier to follow her scent, but something was different. Reaching her in a small meadow, her wolf was blocking Zander’s attempts to talk, but I could tell she was distracted by her thoughts.
Suddenly she ran off towards the pack house. Realizing I might lose my chance to get her alone, Zander shifted, and I pulled her behind a tree. I know she still loves me; I know our mate bond has survived. If I explain my feelings and convince her to return to our pack, she will help decrease the tension among the pack members. They all love and miss her.
