PROTECTING THE HEART

As our first year at the Citadel ended, I was proud of my achievements, but always looked forward to quality time spent with Maddy and my second family; Max, Penelope and Titan. Over the months, we grew closer together, creating memories and a desire within to find my mate and start my own family.
On most weekends, Maddy and I took a break from the program, staying in her family’s hidden cabin. Max was our enigma. His unique blood line caused him to grow faster than normal werewolves, making it interesting to have a conversation with a “one-year-old” whose body looked like a five or six-year-old and his mind functioned like an eight-year-old.
We planned to celebrate his birthday, calling it a life celebration, without mentioning how many years
