Chapter Nine

Elle’s Pov

I got registered in one of the college close to the Lydia’s home and my choice of study was Business. I was hoping that some day, I’ll start up a business of my choice and then make some money to take care of my son.

Lydia has been of great help to me since I started staying with her. She made sure she babysit Lucian like he was her child while I went to schoo. My child grew fond of her and didn’t disturb while I studied

We stayed as a family even though the society where we lived hated us for the fact that we were rogues, we didn’t care much because we had ourselves.

As I was reading in the evening while Lydia was downstairs the kitchen feeding Lucian I guess, I began to feel sharp pains in my stomach. It came so hard I couldn’t hold back but cry.

I’ve had pains like that for some days now but it has not been as serious as today. I cried and begged that the pain Stop.

Lydia, upon hearing my voice ran upstairs to my room to see what was happening.

“s**t! Stay there Ember, I’ll get you some drugs.” She said and ran as fast as she could to get me some meds.

She came back and helped me up to where the bed was . The pain was getting worst and I wasn’t myself again.

“Please Lydia, make the pain go away.” I begged.

“Here, take this drugs, it will make you feel better.” She said and i quickly obeyed her and took the medication because I needed the pain to stop.

“Since when have you been feeling the pain.” She asked. I had to tell her the truth. I didn’t to lie to her.

“This is the fourth day.” I said, my eyes facing the floor.

She raised my face to look at her.

“Why didn’t you say anything? This is not something to hide.” She said softly.

“I’m sorry Lydia, I thought it was normal or maybe my cramps but it didn’t look like cramp pains and I didn’t know what to do.

“Look Ember, I’ll be honest with you and you’ll have to listen.”

“Okay.”

“The pain you’re currently feeling is as a result of your mate born. Do you know who your mate is?”

The question I’ve been avoiding the most. I didn’t want to lie to her so I told her everything including my real name and how I became a rogue.

But there was something about her reaction when I when I told her that Logan was the father of my child. It wasn’t pity it was as if she has gotten the best gift of her life but she was fast to change her mood.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about myself.”

“I understand. You were not just ready to open up and let anyone know about your pain which is strong of you. But you need to share you pain Elle.”

“But you don’t Lydia. I see the sadness in your eyes many a times but you don’t like to share your pain too.”

“Come here.” She pulled me closer so my head was on her chest. She smelled like vanilla.

She kept on patting me and I remembered my mother and the pain of been abandoned comes back so hard that I began to cry.

“They didn’t have to abandon me, I didn’t want any of this to happen.” I said as I cried.

“Many things happen for a reason and that is why you shouldn’t let your past weigh you down. You’re strong Elle and I want you to continue and soon nothing will be able to stop you from achieving your dreams. I’m here for you.” She said just like a mother would say to her sad child.

“I’ve got a surprise for you Elle. But that will be after you graduate so study hard.” She said and I smiled. Her words of comfort really helped to keep me calm.

“Why do I keep feeling the pain?”

“It means your mate is cheating on you and so everytime he is with another woman, you feel the pain of betrayal from the bond.”

“Is there not a cure for it.”

“There’s no cure for it except another wolf claims you as a mate but he too has to have Allah blood in his Vains.”

“I’m ruined Lydia. I don’t want my mate to claim me, he doesn’t care about me and his son so why should he claim me. And I don’t want any man in my life.”

“Elle, I understand how you feel believe me but then you’ll have to be on this drugs just like me.”

“What’s wrong with you Lydia?”

“I don’t think o have much time to live Elle, since I’ve refused to accept my mate bind, I’ve also been in pain and I’ve got to use this drugs to suppress the pains just like you’re doing now.”

“And if I don’t still accept it, I’ll die.”

“Why haven’t you accepted it? Is this also my fate? To die?” I asked.

“You won’t die Elle. You’ll have to be strong for your son,Lucian. He’s looking up to you as his only parent so you’ll have to live. Don’t worry about me.” She said with tears in her eyes.

“I promise, I’ll survive Lydia.” I said as she pulled me into another hug.

“I’ve got to check up on Lucian to see if he’s done eating. Also, I’ve made some cakes so come down and have some.

Aside business, Lydia was good at baking. I love her biscuits.

I smiled as she walked out of my room. I needed to shower before stepping down to eat. After the pain reduced, I was feeling hungry and it’s was as if Lydia knew.

That bastard could save himself the shame of sleeping with different women just like the news says and putting me in pains.

Downstairs, I found Lucian happily playing with Lydia and then seeing the smile on his face. I promised in my heart to make him a better man.
