Chapter Sixteen

Elle Pov

I peep out side my window to see a black sleek car,Logan’s car and a lady stepping out from the passenger seat. I felt jealousy in my heart for a man that ruined my life and thinks he can make me succumb to the mate bond.

“What are you doing here Logan?” I asked like I didn’t know what he really wanted.

“I like how you play dumb mate.” He said with a smirk on his face. I was very aware that he wanted to make me as angry as possible.

“I told you I won’t be giving in to your demands can’t you just stay away from me? You have a woman already.” I said as I eyed the lady who seem to be my age mate if not older.

“She’s not my woman.” He said and I saw sadness in the eyes of the lady. I felt bad for her because too may have fallen for his good looks or his money.

“Are we going to have a normal talk for once?” He asked, but it sound much like a command.

“I want nothing to do with you and please. Don’t come over my cafe. You are already causing people to fear.”

“I’ll leave, but I’ll be back and this time I won’t listen to you.” He said before heading back to his car.

He just threatened me but that did mean I would still give in to his demands. I couldn’t afford to let him break me and tale my child away from me.

I really wanted to get as far from Logan as possible but my personality would make me end up been killed and no one would care question my death simply because rogues are seen as nothing.

“Is everything alright Elle.” I turned to see Lia behind me with concern written in her face.

“Yeah. Just the usually threat.” I said trying to hide the tears that were about to run down my cheeks.

“Come on girl, don’t cry. It will be over soon.” She said as she pulled me into a hug.

Time went by so fast and I prepared to head home. Although I am late today, I was sure that Lydia would take care of Lucian. Right from the shop, I could sense that someone was following me. My heart was racing but I tried to calm myself and hope it wasn’t a forsaken.

Slowly I walked been conscious of my environment just Incase whatever is in the shadows lunged at me i won’t be caught off guard.

The sight of home brought relief to my soul and I quickened my pace till I was right in from of the door. When I turned, I saw a pair of red angry eyes staring back at me before it disappeared and entered the house, making sure to lock it.

I stood by the door frozen until heard voices argue did I leave my spot.

I checked Lucian’s room and found him asleep, I calmly walked towards him and gave him a kiss on his head before I walked to where I could hear voices.

It was coming from Lydia’s of, I could see the same features of a man who had been visiting her secretly twice in a week.

I paused at the window trying as much as I could to understand what they were discussing. I won’t be bothered if only Lydia acts normal after this strange man visits.

After his visit, she remains in doors for two days without coming out, until the third or fourth day looking worst. I feared for her health just like I feared for mine.

Speaking of health, I’m glad that asshole hasn’t shoved his prick into a hole for the past two weeks.

The two seem to be arguing soo badly about what I can’t figure, I peeped into the side of the window and tried hard to figure out how the man looked like only for me to make eye contacts with Lydia.

Well, I didn’t want her to see me but it was out of concern that I wanted to hear their conversation. I felt bad for eavesdropping and moved upstairs back to my room.

I sense Lydia’s perfume in the room as I stepped out from the shower and I was right. She was sitting on the bed with her head bowed a bit like she was meditating.

“I didn’t mean to eavedrop.” I quickly apologized just Incase she was angry with what I did earlier.

“It’s fine, you don’t need to apologize Elle.” She said with a smile and I was relieved that she didn’t take it seriously.

I and my sister were fond of eavesdropping and once caught, dad made sure he punished us even though it wasn’t worth it. If mom tried to beg, he would say he was training us to be better people.

It’s fun to eavedrop, won’t anyone agree?

“Well…how was work?” She asked trying to sound calm when in fact I know she wasn’t okay. That strange man seemed to have a strange effect on her.

“It was fine, just didn’t end well.” I tell her.

“He came again?”

“I don’t know what to do Ly, he keeps coming and I feel the bond trying to push me to him and beg him to claim me. But the-“

“Past? I understand you as much as I love you, I’ll tell you to do exactly what your mind tells you.” She said and then pulls me close into a hug.

I relaxed in her arms happy that the goddess blessed me with someone who acted like a mom to me.

“Thank you soo much Lydia. I don’t know what would have become of me.

We talked about Lucian for a while and then about my school before we were interrupted by the continuous beeping from my phone.

“Hello.” I said a bit anxious to know who the number belonged to.

“Elle help!!!” That’s was all I heard before the call ended. I was a bit confused as I tried calling the number again and lucky someone answered.

“If you want your friend to live, you will do exactly as I say.” And then the call ended , my message box showed recent message. My fingers terrible as I tried opening it but Lydia kept nodding for me to relax and go ahead.

The content of the message makes me grasp as my phone trembles from her hand down to the floor.
