Hank’s POV Light from somewhere began to hit me in my eyes, making me squint and toss a little to get more comfortable. When a whinny sounded from my left though, I shot up and immediately opened my eyes. “June?!” I shouted, stopping myself and my racing heart the moment I saw her curled up next to me on the ground. It seemed like someone had piled hay around us to sleep; blankets from horse saddles lined around us while a scratchy wool blanket was draped over half of me and all of June. ‘Gypsum? How long was I out?’ We were still in the barn, and I could see where the blood had dried to my chest and stomach, as well as on the floor to boot. ‘All night; and it’s sometime mid morning, I’d say.
