We drove home the rest of the way in silence. The weight of everything was on both of our minds. Why is this happening now? It's almost like the universe doesn't want Damian and I to be together.
I haven't seen or heard from Maverick since the first night I met him, almost two years ago. Yet as soon as me and Damian work things out, he shows up at the same party we went to. This is un freaking believable. Is the Moon Goddess pushing me and Maverick together, or were both parties just a crazy coincidence?
All I know at this point is that I have to put Arabella first. No matter what happens, I have to make sure she is safe and happy. It would kill me if she got hurt in the crossfire between the three of us. This is why I swore off all men for awhile.
