THE BAD BOY’S FIRST KISS CHAPTER 10 DEVVY’S POV “MISS Quiroz and friends, you can now go out,” we suddenly heard Sir Nguyen speak as he looked at us. The three of us stood up and bowed to him and Ma’am Suarez and bid our goodbye. “Sir, how about us?” we heard Calisha asked promptly. “You and Miss Yanong will stay. We need to talk about this." Sir Nguyen showed the phone screen he’s holding that made Lyka and Calisha greatly surprised. I was right. It was the video posted by the school’s page, which Yannie and Mikayla had just opened through their phones. We had finally got out of the principal's office. I was surprised when I noticed the teachers in the faculty watching the same video. “I was right. You didn’t do such things,” one of the teachers said when they saw us going out. I just smiled at them and mouthed the words, "thank you." They smiled too. When the three of us had gone away a bit from the faculty, we screamed in happiness. There were tears of joy that poured down my cheeks as my friends hugged me. “I know it right. You will never do things like that,” Mikayla uttered. “And I know it right. I had a strong feeling that those two plotted this to ruin you,” Yannie added, referring to Lyka and Calisha. When we detached, I saw some students outside their classrooms. I’m sure they have watched the video already because they are holding their phones, but the others are currently viewing it. Some of them who saw us at the moment pointed us to tell the others we were out from the principal’s office already. “I’m sorry, Devvy. We quickly judged you,” Windy said. She’s our batchmate from the second section. I just smiled as a response. The others said “sorry” too, but I just gave them the same smile. When we reached the hallway of the fourth-year high school’s classrooms, we saw our schoolmates, but Matthew and his friends stood out among them all. I am looking at Matthew when Mikayla and Yannie suddenly nudged me slightly in the arms. “Hey! Hunter is smiling at you,” Yannie said in a low tone. That’s then the time I shifted my eyes to Hunter, but I was surprised when Hunter and his friends were already closer to us. “See? I told you. Just chill out,” Hunter said, and he bobbed his brows up and down. “It was y-you. You helped me. T-thank you, Hunter,” I sincerely told him, my voice shaking. And before I could notice it, my tears already fell. “You’re always welcome, Dev.” He beamed and reached my head to ruffle my hair. What he did, caused me to feel a bit conscious since there were many pairs of eyes staring at us, but anyway, I chose not to mind the people and him messing my hair because I was wiping my own tears, and I was thankful for what he did. He really helped me. I wasn’t even expecting it today. “What’s with you two?” I heard Matthew’s stern voice that made us look at him. His face looked serious, and his forehead wrinkled in confusion as he looked at Hunter and me. Matthew's eyes then fixated on me. I didn’t know why, but I took one step backward. “N-nothing…” I answered. Hunter purposely cleared his throat. “Don’t scare her, bro. She’s a friend of mine, and for your information, she’s that girl whom your girlfriend accused.” Hunter then looked like he was disappointed. I’m not sure, but that’s what I’ve pictured on his face. “Now, we know she has done nothing wrong. Right?” Hunter smiled at me when he looked at me. “Thank you once again,” I told Hunter once again. I sniffed. “If you need something from me, tell me, so I can help… a gratitude for helping me, at least…” I added and smiled. My friends and I were about to march inside our classroom when we started to hear buzzes. When we looked at the back, we saw Calisha and Lyka with their angry and annoyed looks. Our classmates and schoolmates were looking in their direction, obviously talking badly at them. “We have believed and judged Devvy quickly because we thought your accusations to her were true and convincing—and because you have the so-called evidence—but it turns out you are the liars here!” “We all know now that you two plotted this to ruin Devvy’s image!” “How embarrassing! You both are the liars and the cheaters here; it’s not Devvy!” Those were some of the words we heard from our classmates and schoolmates to Lyka and Calisha. Everyone was looking at them with disappointment, and they were so upset. Meanwhile, Lyka glared at them. “You shut up!” she yelled at them. Calisha cried as she went toward Matthew and asked for some help. “Babe, help me. They’re bullying me,” Calisha sobbed, but Matthew’s eyes were in my direction. “Your crush is looking at you. He’s ignoring her,” I heard Yannie whisper. I didn’t mind their scene. I turned my back and headed inside the classroom. I don’t want to get jealous if I saw them together. Mikayla, Yannie and I continued watching the full video. I learned that it was Hunter who took the video posted on the school's page because of his voice. The video went like this: Hunter’s voice: Devvy is innocent. Calisha and Lyka plotted everything. After his voice, Calisha and Lyka talked privately in a storage room of our school. Calisha: Aren’t you surprised why Devvy’s rank suddenly rose? Lyka: She was the Top 1 in her previous school. Calisha: Yes, but that school is the fifth best school here, and our school is the top best school. Students from our school always win whenever there are school competitions, academic or not. We never saw her in every school competition before. Lyka: Well, that’s true. She also transferred here last school year and ranked fourth. That was so sudden. Plus, she’s not even studying hard when we look at her. Calisha: She’s a threat. I figured it out before, but I didn’t really pay attention to it. Lyka: She might rank first this school year. Her high ratings in the previous exam will prove. I think hers was higher than yours, right? Calisha: I think so. I have a plan, but I need someone’s help. Lyka: I can help. I don’t really mind whatever my rank is so long as I’m in the top ten students, but it’s worrisome if your rank goes down. You’re the Top 1 consistently. Calisha: I will go inside the faculty when no one’s in. I will capture the answer keys of the previous exam of all subjects. You just need to film me. Lyka: Are you sure about that? Calisha: Yes. The teachers trust me, so they will not suspect it. Lyka: Okay. Calisha: Aside from that, you will film me when I steal my own diary. I will read and write something on it with Devvy’s similar handwriting and put it on her locker during our P.E. time in the field. I noticed she’s not locking her locker during P.E. time. Lyka: Wow. That’s great. Then? Calisha: Let’s have it photoshopped or something. I know someone who can do the editing of the video and photos. After all, Devvy and I have the same size body. I think they will not obviously notice it. Lyka: So, we’re gonna accuse her of stealing and reading your diary as well. Good. When will we do it? Calisha whispered something in Lyka’s ear, so what she said was inaudible. Then the video changed. This time, Calisha and Lyka were being filmed without their knowledge. That’s when Calisha acted like she was stealing her diary and reading it. After that, she put the diary in my locker. The video changed. This time, it was when Calisha went inside the faculty and opened a particular drawer of the cabinet near Mrs. Suarez's cubicle desk. Then Calisha captured the answer keys. After that, she put the answer keys back in the cabinet. The video changed again. This time, Calisha and Lyka were meeting with a man. Man: Done filming? Calisha: Yeah. I’ll leave the rest to you. Just send the outputs in my e-mail. Lyka: She’s a good actress in the video. I swear. Man: Okay. I have to leave now. Calisha: Thanks. Hunter’s voice came in with a black background in the video: I tried to talk with the man, but I wasn’t able to since I lost him in the crowd. Then the video changed. Now, it was the time when Calisha and Lyka met again in the storage room. They were watching the video and the developed pictures. They celebrated success. Hunter’s voice in the black background of the video: I tried talking with Calisha from the very start to stop them, but you know what she said? Here it is… Calisha: Don’t you dare ruin our plans, Hunter. Besides, who will they believe? You, the troublemaker, scumbag, and bad boy? Or me, the highest-ranking student in the whole fourth year here in our school? You have no match over me. Better shut up and go on flirting with girls you like and stop defending that girl. Hunter: Fine. Go ahead. Calisha: Don’t get in my way. I’m warning you. That’s it. The last part of the video was Hunter’s voice, saying, “Again. Devvy is innocent here. She has done nothing wrong. It’s clear that it was Calisha and Lyka’s scheme. Devvy is smart and a good girl. I know it because I know her.” The video ended. Right after we’ve watched the video, the school has deleted it already from their page. My tears kept streaming down my cheeks in happiness. “This is incredible. I didn’t know Hunter has this side,” Yannie muttered. "Really, it is. Hunter is such a savior of yours, Dev," Mikayla said, tapping my back. I nodded in agreement as I brushed off my tears. “I didn’t know how to thank him enough. I’m out of words right now.”
