THE BAD BOY’S FIRST KISS   CHAPTER 2   DEVVY’S POV   “IT’S 4:00 p.m., yet I'm so sleepy. This subject is so damn boring," I heard Mikayla say. She even yawned.   I pulled her hair slightly. “Don’t say it aloud. He might hear you. And please, keep your eyes awake,” I told her in a low voice but just enough for her to hear.   Mikayla is seated in front of me. She would be the fourth one if seats were to be counted from the front of the fifth row or the last row. I am at her back; Yannie is behind me. It looks like I am in between them.   She turned to face me. “He better catches me. I wanna go home, Dev.” She uttered a laugh quietly, making me roll my eyes at her.   Our subject is History. Mikayla hates this subject so much because she always finds it boring while I like this subject.   “Whatever,” I lazily said and leaned against my chair.   “Miss Regale, Miss Quiroz and Miss Alcantara! You are not paying attention to my discussion!”   We suddenly froze when we heard Sir Ghu’s angry voice that roared in the room. Unfortunately, my last name was also mentioned. Gosh! This is not happening! Devvy Precious Quiroz, what have you done? I swallowed silently.   “You three, get out! Now!” he added, making us gape in awe.   But the three of us hurriedly got up with our things. I looked behind me and saw Yannie pursing her lips, already prepared to go out. We bowed a mite at Sir Ghu and headed our way out of the class. We used the door at the back since it was near us.   “Woah! That was intense! I didn’t know he was that scary!” Yannie said as we arrived at some particular lobby. We were already away from our classroom, so Sir Ghu would not be able to hear us.   “I told you, Miks. You didn’t listen.” I pouted my lips after saying it to Mikayla.   She laughed cheerfully. “It’s okay, Dev. It’s your first time, right?” And both laughed, happy to see my first time getting fired out by a teacher. Mikayla and Yannie had already experienced this before, so it wasn’t new to them.   “You two are really crazy,” I said, shaking my head in disbelief, but I looked at Yannie when I suddenly remembered Mikayla and I were the only ones who were talking a while ago inside the room. “Why did he—”   She cut me off, saying, “I was laughing without sound at you two. I knew Sir Ghu already had his attention on Mikayla as she kept yawning. And he noticed you, Dev, so I laughed. That way, he could not just get the two of you out but the three of us,” she explained.   “Wow. That’s—” I rubbed my forehead and sighed. “How impressive of you,” I commented.   “Oh, my gosh! It’s him! Your crush, Dev!” announced Mikayla, who was now looking at a distance. Yannie and I followed her gaze only to see Matthew—the most popular, handsome heartbreaker on the campus. He is a bad boy like Hunter and very good-looking. A lot of girls are drooling over him. I hate to admit it, but I... I am one of them.   I don’t like bad boys, but I don’t know why I like him. He’s like... he seems like an exception.   “Hi, Matthew! Devvy’s here—” I quickly covered Yannie’s mouth with my hands when she suddenly called Matthew. Good thing Matthew did not seem to hear it because he just kept on walking, and he was talking with someone over the phone.   Mikayla was now laughing so hard, pointing my already-red face, teasing me.   “Gosh! You’re... you’re embarrassing me!” I frowned, but I suddenly burst into laughter when they tickled me in the flanks. “Oh, please! Stop now! I’m dying! I hate you!”   A few moments later, I found myself lying on the grassy ground when they stopped tickling me, but they were still laughing.   “Come on, Dev. Stand up now. We’re tired.” Yannie chuckled, still amused.   Mikayla helped me get up but still grinning.   “You two, I hate you! You’re bullies!” I groaned as I wagged my school uniform. They waggled the back of it since I could not reach it out.   They then both hugged me. “Sorry, Dev. We just find you cute when we tease you with your handsome crush,” Mikayla said, a little laugh still evident.   “Miks is right,” Yannie agreed. “We’re going to graduate this school year, so we’ll do something so that your crush will notice you. Who knows? He might transfer school when that time comes.” Her brows were being playful.   “Don’t worry. I’ll follow him,” I seriously said that made them detach away from hugging me. “Just kidding.” I smirked when I saw their faces in shock, not expecting they would hear it from me.   “Whatever you say.” They both rolled their eyes at me.   Finally, we had left the campus already. We were now pacing on the way home when Yannie asked me, “By the way, why did Hunter give you your mother’s key? By any chance, does he know you?”   “Looks like he knows you, Dev,” Mikayla said, even nodding. “And what did he say? If you don’t come to the fine dining, he’ll assume that you have a crush on him?” she added, and they grinned.   “I know what you’re thinking. Stop that. Yes, he is handsome, but I don’t have a crush on him. Okay?”   “Defensive much?” they teased. “You didn’t tell us about Hunter,” Yannie added.   “I’m not defensive. It’s a fact. It’s just that we know each other. My mom and his mom are friends. And Hunter and I—I don’t know. We’re not close; we’re not friends. What you saw a while ago... that was the first time he spoke to me,” I explained.   They nodded. “We are best friends, but I think there’s so much that we don’t know yet about you more,” Yannie uttered.   “Don’t be sad. It’s just that I’m silent sometimes, and I don’t share that much, unlike you two,” I said. “I will share about myself more as days go by during this school year.”   The two beamed. Mikayla suddenly looked as if a bulb lit up in her head. “What if you talk to Hunter and befriend him? He’s friends with Matthew, right?” she suggested.   “Hell, no!” I blurted out. “You heard what he said. He might really think that I like him. It would turn out I like two guys when that happens. You know I only like one guy.”   “Why not? When you are friends with Hunter, you can get closer to Matthew. And he will notice you for sure,” Mikayla said.   “I think she’s right, Miks. Many fangirls might attack our little Dev if she gets closer with the boys,” Yannie opposed.   “I’m not little. I’m big now,” I told Yannie.   “Little or big, you are dead meat now!” we heard a girl's loud voice from behind. Our eyes automatically shifted to the back only to see a group of girls whose eyes were flaming in anger.   “Oh, no...” Mikayla and Yannie muttered. Gosh! I didn't think what I said earlier about Hunter's fangirls attacking me might happen now. God, help us…
