Chapter seventeen - Angels and demons

2357 Words
Melanie's POV: I think I like Jordan. I can't be sure, but something always makes me go to see him. This is one of the reasons why I decided to get him a Christmas present. The other one is that I have read the book. It's called my favorite angel. I'm not sure if he will like it. The thing is that it made me think of him. I won't say he is my angel. The tattoos are not a coincidence. There are some things that I have noticed about myself. I still don't know how to explain them. Once, we went to a park. It was after a night walk. Some boys came with drinks. One of them looked at me and winked. This made me feel weird. For a moment, I thought he might come to me and do something. I don't know why I always think about the worst things possible. Luckily, nothing happened. I guess my friend noticed this. He only hugged me. Well, that was enough to make me feel safe. I still can't understand why it happened. He didn't do anything else, but it was enough to make me feel his way. Of course, I haven't told him. I couldn't do it. Maybe I can find a way to talk with him about it, but I don't know how. I don't want him to understand me the wrong way. There is a chance that he will like it. I did, for sure. It was something simple, but it left its traces on me. Now, I want to do it more often. I can make Jordan hang out with me, but he has friends. They need him, too. I should say that since he gave me the bracelet, I don't take it off. It became my favorite thing. I hope that I can manage to tell him about my feelings. I have a new obsession, and that is my bracelet. I wonder why the angel wings. It might be because of our tattoos. I still believe there is something else to it. I won't ask about this. The thing is that I liked it. Of course, the girls have asked me about this. I told them that I bought it myself. They won't leave me in peace if I tell them the truth. It's not like I mind, but it's better if they don't know. I might talk to them, but who knows when? I woke up and went to get ready for school. The winter is slowly leaving. I can't wait for the spring. Let's say that I prefer to be warm. When I was ready, I went downstairs for breakfast. There was no one. I checked the time and realized that I had woken up too early. I used the chance to make breakfast. I think my mom will appreciate the effort. I'm not the best cook, so I made sandwiches. These are my favorite. When they were ready, I put them in a tray and brought them to the table. - Something smells good. - my mom said - It does. - Did you make this? - Yes, why? Don't you like it? - I do. You don't cook often. - I don't wake up that early. - Oh, sandwiches. I haven't eaten some in a long time. - my dad said - Now you have the chance. We better eat now because I will be late. - Yes, chef. - Very funny. - I see you still wear the bracelet. - Why wouldn't I? - Won't you tell us where did you get it? I know someone gave it to you. Otherwise, you wouldn't be so careful with it. - I told you. I bought it on one website. It wasn't cheap. - Honey, do we have a boy situation? - What? No. Where did that come from? - We won't judge you. - my dad said - I know, but I bought it myself. - I hope that you will tell us one day. - I'm not lying. - End of conversation. We don't believe you. - Whatever. Eat now. - These are my words. You can't copy them. - Fine. - Someone woke up in a bad mood. - my dad said - Someone decided to investigate me. - I understand. Nothing else was said. I ate two sandwiches and left for school. I know I can't lie. What I don't understand is why they care about this. It doesn't matter who gave me this. It's only a bracelet. This doesn't cost a million dollars. I walked to school and saw Natalie in front of my locker. She is still sleepy. - Good morning. - Hello. - she said, yawning - Have you slept last night? - Yes, but not much. I couldn't sleep well. - I see. - Nice bracelet. - Thanks, but I won't tell you anything. - Come on. Please. I won't tell the girls. It's a pinky promise. - Why do you want to know? - Because this is not from us or your parents. Does it have something to do with the boy from the coffee shop? - What? - I can't believe it. Did he give you this? - Shh! - I said and put my hand on her mouth - I won't tell. - What? - I won't tell. - she said and removed my hand - Sorry. - Why are you hiding this? - Because I don't want anyone to know. - The boy is not a criminal. He is nice. - Have you seen his arms? - Yes. Why? - Think. - Now I get it. Your mom won't say anything. Besides, it doesn't matter if a person has tattoos or not. It's about their personality. - She doesn't think the same. - I think you should tell her. - I don't know. I will think about this. Soon, Chelsea and Katy came. All of us walked to class. I kept staring at my bracelet for a while. On the lunch break, we went for food. Now I wish I had a latte. Since Jordan started replacing the coffee with cocoa powder, I liked them. Well, he is doing this only for me. I might go and get one after school. I'll see about that. After the last class, I decided to go to the coffee shop. The problem is that the girls wanted to come with me. This means I won't talk with him for long. Maybe we can go out tonight. While waiting for Katy, I wrote a place and an hour to a note. I will give it to Jorden when I pay for my drink. It took us fifty minutes to arrive. Chelsea wanted to stop at one store to get something. It was supposed to take five minutes. Then she saw other things. - Hey. How are you today? - I'm fine, thanks. I see you have company. - I do. I want my special latte. - It's on the way. Girls, do you want something? - What is the best drink here? - Chelsea asked - I can't answer you that. - Why? - It's based on preferences. - All of them are good. - I said - Is this why you come here so often? - Katy said - Yes. - Only this. - Natalie said - Shut up! - I said and punched her slightly - Oww. Rude. - Here is your drink. - Thanks. - Make me the green drink from the menu. The one over there. - Chelsea said - This one is with matcha. - It doesn't matter. - Ok, what about the rest? - Give me orange juice. I don't want anything else. - Natalie said - I will take a Frappuccino with one cupcake. - Katy said - Anything else for any of you? - No, that's it. - I believe you will pay. - Jordan said, looking at me - You wish. - Don't be a bad friend. - I'm not. Can you give us the orders? We have to go. - Here you go. - These are our money. - Katy said - Thank you. - This is from me. - I said - No tip? - You don't deserve it. - Come on. I tried to be nice to everyone. - Are you sure? - Fine. - I'm kidding. Take this. You can buy ice cream. - How generous. - Take care of the money. - Why? - Because you might lose them. I have seen this happening. - I understand. - he said after looking at them - I hope you do. I'm sorry, we have to go. Thank you for the latte. - No problem. Feel free to come whenever you want. - I will think about this. Be nice if you want a tip. - You have my word, miss. - We'll see, shall we? - I always keep my promises. - I never said you didn't. - Not directly. - Bye. See you another day. - Bye. - he said, and we left The girls and I walked home. Katy and Chelsea tried to ask me about Jordan. I think they know that something is going on. I have told Natalie more, so she is calm about this. I don't mind telling them but now is not the time. I will do it later. Who knows when this will happen? When we went home, we started with our studies. I offered them to stay with me for dinner. My parents plan to go out for dinner. It will be only us. Around 6 pm, I ordered food. Mom was kind enough to leave me some money. I see she is in a good mood. Maybe something happened. I will ask her about it when she comes home. I made the girls choose a movie while we waited for the food. - Everything is delicious. - Katy said - I think you are hungry. - I said - That is true, too. - Now, spill the tea. - Chelsea said - What tea? - About you and the boy from the coffee shop. You were way too nice to him. What is going on? - Nothing. - Come on. You gave him a tip. - So? I always do it. - That is true. She always leaves a tip. - Natalie said - See? - This doesn't matter. Something is going on between you two. I know it. - Nothing is going on. Eat your dinner. - Liar! I saw the way he looked at you. - This doesn't mean anything. I am not his only customer. - You can't deny it. He has an eye on you. - Katy said - Can we stop talking about me? - Not until you admit it. - Admit what? - That you like him. - Chelsea said, and I laughed - Good joke. - It's not a joke. There is nothing wrong with the boy. I liked him. - Then date him. - No, he is not for me. He has too many tattoos. - What is wrong with them? - Nothing, but I don't like them that much. - So? - So I would prefer to be with someone who doesn't have them. - It's your choice. - Yes, it is. I mean, the one with the wing is too big. The others are fine. - It's an angel wing. - What? - The tattoo is an angel wing. - From where do you know? - Because I have seen it on the internet. He is not the only one who has it. I saw a guy talking about his in a video. I watched it a long time ago. - I didn't know you liked such things. - I never said I did. - But you are interested. - Whatever. The girls and I talked for some time. Later, they left. My parents came home. I told them a few things and went out. Probably, Jordan is waiting for me. I went to the place and saw him waiting. Hopefully, he didn't come a long time ago. I tried to be as fast as possible. I could tell the girls, but the questions would come. I didn't have time to deal with this. - Hey, are you waiting much? - No, don't worry. I came five minutes ago. - Thanks. I thought I was late. - No worries. - The girls stayed at home for dinner. Chelsea doesn't like you in a dating form. - Why? - You have too many tattoos. - What a way to disapprove people. - Don't mind her. - At least you like me. - What? - I mean in a friendly way. You don't mind my tattoos. - Don't forget that I have a few, too. - I know. How can I forget that? The best one is still here. - he said and pointed to my hand - Thanks. - By the way, I read the book. - Really? - Yes. It was good. Now, my mom is taking care of it. - Why? - She wanted to know why you gave it to me. This means she will read it, too. - I understand. Should we go for a walk? - I would love that. Jordan and I stayed outside until midnight. Later, he sent me home. I told him it wasn't necessary. The boy wanted to make sure I would go home safely. Honestly, I like that he takes care of me. It's one of the few people who do it. When I went to my room, I looked at the bracelet he gave me. It's a mini copy of my tattoo. I wonder who is my demon if he is my angel. Maybe I don't have one. For now, I don't have problems with anyone. It's not too late. Well, I don't want this to happen. I like my life the way it is now. I mean, without problems. I hope that it will always be like that.
