Chapter eighteen - Should I tell her?

2340 Words
Jordan's POV: Things between Melanie and I are getting a little bit complicated. The book she gave me was excellent. I think I know why she chose this one. I don't see us there, but there are some similarities. Both of us have made terrible choices. This is how we ended up with our tattoos. The difference is that the girl in the book is good. She is trying to help the boy to become a better person. At least she managed to do it. I feel better now compared to what I was a few years ago. It's better if I don't talk about this. I don't want to go back to those times. It's a closed chapter in my life. I didn't tell Melanie what happened back then. That's why I don't plan to do it. She didn't tell me, either. Maybe it's for good. I'm glad that she liked my present. I see her wearing it every day. I'm sure she got questions because of that. I know it because she told me. Let's say that she still hasn't told anyone about me. If she does this, there are other things that she has to explain. Me too. I have some things to talk about with her. Well, I don't know how. I can't find the right moment for that. After all, I don't want her to understand me the wrong way. I would love to try with her. Sadly, I don't think I have a chance. She needs to be with people her age. It's not like this is a valid reason. I should think about this before I tell her whatever it is. I have to find the right way and time to do it. This is way harder than I thought. Mostly, that is because I have never done this before. I hope that I won't mess up. It's the weekend. The boys and I decided to spend some time together. Lately, I have seen Noah more often. It will be good to have some places to go. We used to do that a lot when we were in high school. Now, everyone is busy with something. That shouldn't be an excuse, but we grew up. Things have changed. Let's say that we have other priorities. Maybe that is if we don't talk about me. My only one is to have enough time for everything. I'm trying my best to do it. I woke up and went to get ready for the day. The boys will come home for breakfast. I have to be done soon. I quickly changed my clothes and made my bed. Later, I went to the kitchen. I will make my delicious toast today. Once, I prepared this for Noah. Now, everyone will try it. After all, I want to know if I can cook. Melanie said this, but I think it was only because she wanted to be nice to me. After half an hour, the food was ready. My friends came, too. - Good morning. Come in. - Something smells good. - Jason said - Did you make toast? - Noah asked - Yes. - That is one of his best meals. We need to hire him as a personal chef. - Thanks, but I will deny it. I have other things to worry about. I mean, except for your meals. - What is the plan for today? - Dylan asked - I don't know. If you have an idea, say it. - Thanks, but nothing comes to my head. We are too old for the places we used to go. - We can find new ones. - I said - Where? - There is one party if someone wants to go. - Noah said - Really? Who is making it? - One boy from my class. I got invited, and I asked if I could bring friends. He said yes. - Sweet. - Jason said - What will we do until then? - Dylan said - Good question. - Let's go out. We can walk and have lunch in a restaurant. - Noah said - I'm up for it. - Me too. The boys liked my breakfast. At least I can cook well. Later, all of us walked out. We went for a walk. There was no destination. After all, we decided to buy food and eat it at the park. Dylan quickly looked around to see if there were some girls. I wonder when he will stop doing this. It's visible that this is not working for him. We left him to do what he wanted. Soon, he came back. - Do you have a note again? - I asked, chuckling - No, but she said she had a boyfriend. - Ouch. I'm sorry. - She tried to set me up with her friend, but it wasn't working. I didn't like her. - If you chase them, nothing will happen. Take a break. The right one will come. - Did you find her? - Who? - The right one for you. - No. - I think you can tell them. - Noah said - I have nothing to say. - No, no. You two know something. - Jason said - Fine. I met a girl in the coffee shop. Before you say something, she is only eighteen. - So what? You can still date her. - I won't do that. - Why? The age is not a problem. - It has nothing to do with her age. - Then? - I never said I liked her. - There is something that you are not telling us. - Dylan said - I would like to know, too. - Noah said - I told you. I promised to keep her secret. - You can tell them. - Melanie. What are you doing here? - I went out for some time. - Are you alone? - Noah asked - Yes, why? - Nothing. - If you want, I can call Natalie. - No, thanks. - Are you sure about this? - I can't hide this forever. Go on. - What is going on here? - Dylan asked - I made him hide something from you because I haven't told anyone about it. - What is it? - Jason asked Melanie didn't say anything and sat next to me. I know what she will do. I pulled up my sleeve, and she did the same. Here it is. This is the perfect match. I still can't believe that it's real. The boys looked at us in disbelief. It's understanding. I still don't know how this is possible. Sometimes, I think it's a miracle. - What? How? - Jason asked - Is this real? Like a real tattoo? - Dylan asked - So this is what you didn't want to tell me. - Noah said - I'm sorry. You know I keep my promises. - I know. - Why do you hide? - Jason asked - Because my mom hates people with tattoos. I couldn't tell her that I had some. - Some? How much do you have? - Dylan asked - Three. This is the first one. I have one on this finger and one on my neck. My hair covers it. - It's good that you have long hair. - Noah said - It is only this? - Jason asked - Well, there are some weird coincidences. - Melanie said - How weird? - We had the tattoos when we were sixteen and at the same place with the same tattoo artist. - What now? How is that possible? - Noah asked - I don't know. - Imagine if you two got them for the same reason. - Dylan said, chuckling - Dylan! - I said - I'm sorry. - Guys, I need a favor from you. - Melanie said - Anything. - You can't talk about this with anyone else, ok? I'm important for me. - You have my work. I won't open my mouth. - Noah said - Thanks. - The same you can expect from us. - Dylan said - Thank you. I will stop hiding, but I don't know when. It's a bit complicated. - No problem. Take your time. We won't talk about this. - You hit the jackpot with them. - Melanie said, looking at me - I know. - I have to go now. The girls and I have some plans to do. Mostly, I mean Natalie. - Will you go out with her? - Noah said, and she chuckled - I will tell her to call you. - No, I didn't mean that. - I know. You are the one who should do it. The boys need to make the first move. - What? - Bye. Please, make me a latte on Monday. - You got it. - Thanks. You will get your tip when I come. - she said and left - I like her. - Dylan said - Same. She is perfect for you. - Jason said - I won't say the same. - Noah, are you ok? - Dylan asked - He has a crush on her best friend. - I said - Oh, I see. Does she have more friends? - Two other girls, yes. - I think I should meet them. - Are you sure? - Yes, I am. The boys and I stayed in the park for some time. Later, we went home. All of us agreed to go to the party with Noah. I don't know how long I will stay there, but I can go for some time. In the afternoon, we watched a few movies and ate popcorn. That was all I could offer them. Also, we had lunch. I wasn't that hungry. I wish I could say the same for my friends. They might want us to have dinner before we go there. We went to the nearest restaurant for food. - I want something delicious. - Dylan said - Like what? - I asked - Whatever it is. - I'm not that hungry. Who wants to share a pizza with me? - I might do it. I thought to order one, but I won't eat the whole thing. - Noah said - Good. We have a pizza. Jason? - I'll take French fries. - Is the order ready? - the waiter asked - Yes. So, one pizza from this one and French fries. Dylan, what do you want? - Make the French fries two. - Any drinks? - Two big bottles of water for now. - Anything else? - No, thanks. - I'll be back soon. - the waiter said and left - So, the party will be in your classmate's house? - Dylan asked - Yes. No invitations are needed. I mean, not on paper. - How many girls will be there? - I don't know. I have no idea how many people he told about it. - Why didn't you tell Melanie? - Jason asked - Because I didn't want to. Also, I want to spend time with my friends. - Is it only that? - Yes, it is. You don't need to question every answer I give you. - I think I have to do it. - Because? - Because you started hiding things from us. Well, from Dylan and me. - He didn't tell me the reason he met Melanie. - Noah said - Can we stop talking about her? There are other things in life than girls. - I said - Like what? - To do what you like. - What if I like being with girls? - Dylan asked - I won't say anything else. You two are impossible. - Someone woke up in a bad mood. - No, I didn't. - If you say so. The boys and I ate our dinner. Later, we went to the party. When we arrived, the house was full of people. I looked closely and saw Katy and Chelsea. Dylan and Jason went in their direction. Honestly, I'm not in the mood for that. The only reason why I agreed to come was because I wanted to do something different. That didn't help much. I took a drink and sat on the stairs to the second floor. At least there is no one here. - Hey, are you ok? You don't look much in the mood. - Noah said - I know. - If it's for what the boys said. - No, they have nothing to do with that. - Then? - She. - Melanie? - Yes? - What about her? - I can't get her out of my head. She is stuck there permanently. - You feel too quickly and too hard. - I know. - You should tell her. - I don't know how. There is a chance that she will reject me. - I'm not sure if she will do it. The way she looks at you says it all. - This doesn't mean anything. - It means way more than you think. - Do you think I have a chance? - Yes, I do. Try. You won't understand until you don't do it. - I hope you are right. - I am. Noah and I kept talking for about half an hour. Then, I went home. I didn't want to stay here. I wasn't in the mood for that. There is only one thing in my head. Everyone knows the name. She did something to me. I wanted to text Melanie, but it was too late. Well, she was online, so I gave it a chance. Luckily, she answered me. We texted for some time. I didn't want to leave her, but I had to. I might check on her tomorrow. If she is free, we can go out. I won't mind it. We have to talk, but I have no idea when this will happen. I don't think it will be soon. I hope that this won't be a failure for me.
