Chapter three - You will meet your soulmate

2327 Words
Melanie's POV: I went to see Adriana so she could tell me what was happening to me. She guessed correctly. There was drama in school, but I wasn't part of it. That is the good news. The bad one is that two best friends argued. I can't imagine if something happened between the girls and me. I can't lose them. They are my best friends. This doesn't mean I have told them everything. Let's say that I'm still not sure about it. For now, I better keep this a secret. I don't know what will happen if I tell them. Natalie won't say anything, but I don't want to involve her. She better stay away from this mess. Apart from that, I have nothing else to hide. My friends know everything. I can say the same for my parents. I wish that things were a bit easier. I can remove my tattoos, but I won't do it. They are part of me now. Also, I don't see a reason for me to do it. There is nothing wrong with having them. Once Katy found my foundation. That's why I started putting on my face a bit before I went to school. Otherwise, she will start asking why I have it. That's why I don't need to give her an explanation. Mostly, I use my foundation in summer. I can't wear long sleeves then. I have used the skin-toned sleeve I have. I start sweating from it. Luckily, the makeup is not melting under the sun. Otherwise, I would've had problems. I don't know for how long I can hide. One day, I should tell everyone the truth. Maybe I need to talk with Adriana again. For now, she is the only person who knows everything. I know I can trust her. I hope that my mom won't be disappointed in me. It's the weekend. The girls wanted us to have a slumber party at Chelsea's house. We agreed to meet around 5 pm. I don't know what I will do until then. I might call Natalie. She is the only person with who I can talk about everything. This doesn't mean I will tell her my secret. Now, it's not the time for this. Before that, I will talk with Adriana. I'm sure she has what to tell me. Sometimes, I feel like she is a friend I don't need, but I have. At least she is on my side. I woke up and went to get ready. I messaged Adriana to make sure she was awake and in her studio. Technically, it's a decorated room in her house. She told me not to buy anything this time. Good for me. When I was ready, I went for a quick breakfast. My parents were already at the table. The food smells heavenly. Mom is the best chef I know. Well, everyone says this about their mother. Why can't I do it, too? I sat down and started eating. Both of them looked at me. - What? - When was the last time you ate? - Yesterday for dinner. Why? - Because you eat as if you are in a rush. Also, you have jam and butter all over your mouth. - my mom said, chuckling, and gave me a napkin - I'm sorry. I wanted to go out. - When is the slumber party? I mean, at what hour? - We decided to meet at 5 pm. I might invite Natalie here before we go to Chelsea's house. - Good. What are the plans? Movies and eating. - I don't know. I'll let them decide. - I wish I had that many friends at your age. - Didn't you have? - No. I mean, they weren't that close like yours. Make sure to keep them. - For sure, I will. - Eat now. - Thanks. I finished my breakfast and went to see Adriana. Her cat greeted me. I didn't see her the last time I was here. Soon, the owner came as well. She led me to her office, and we sat down. The cat followed us. I like pets, but I can't take care of one. That's why I don't have any animals at home. It's not like my parents haven't asked me about it. - What is the problem today? - Adriana asked - I feel guilty for hiding myself. - Then stop doing it. - I can't. - Let me see it. - she said, and I pulled up my sleeve - What? - You will meet your soulmate. - Huh? Where did that come from? - When you meet the person with the same tattoo, you will meet your soulmate. - No offense, but you are crazy. - Haven't you heard the myth? - What myth? - If two people have identical things, not only tattoos, they are soulmates. - Come on. No one believes this. - Many people do. You might not believe me now. When you see him, you will change your mind. - You wish. Why do you think he is my soulmate? What if he is ten years older than me? I don't want to be with a grandpa. - I said, and she laughed - Trust me. He is not a grandpa. You will like him. - Do you know who he is? - Maybe. - Then tell me. I want to see him. - I don't have a picture of him. - Ok, tell me how he looks. - The boy is ordinary. - Is he too old? - No, he isn't. - Where can I find him? - I don't know where he lives, but I can recommend something. - Like what? - Try the coffee from the coffee shop on Blakely Street. It's perfect. - I don't even drink coffee. - They have other drinks, too. - What does this have to do with my soulmate? - Who knows? He might like drinking coffee. - Adriana! - I'm honest. - That's it. I'm going home. - Try the coffee there. - No! - I said and left I went to eat lunch in a fast food restaurant. When I finished, I walked home. I texted Natalie to come if she wanted. There was no need for a second invitation. After half an hour, she was at home. I don't have that many things to tell her. Well, it's good to talk with someone. I haven't told anyone about Adriana. Otherwise, they will ask me why I go there. We walked to my room. There were some leftover snacks from yesterday. That will do the work. - Can I know why I am here? - I thought we could talk. - Did something happen? Are you ok? - I'm fine. Also, nothing happened. - Don't scare me. - I'm not. - Then why do you look like that? - Like what? - Worried. Maybe a bit pale as well. - I haven't noticed. - If I don't tell the girls, will you share? Please. - Fine. I walked outside and bumped into a woman. She told me that I would meet my soulmate. - What? Really? Does she know him? - She didn't give me an answer. I don't know. - Finally, something good happened. - Hold on. I didn't say that I believed her. - Why not? Don't you have hopes? - Not really. - You have to be kidding me. Maybe I need to visit this woman as well. I wonder when I will meet mine. - I won't suggest doing it. - Why not? - She was dressed like a hippy and sounded crazy. All she will do is take your money. - You need to be more positive. - Yeah, sure. Please, don't tell the girls about this. They will want to know who she was. - Don't worry. I won't say anything. - Thanks. - Is this all? - What do you mean? - Do you have to tell me something else? - No, I don't. - Why don't you believe in love? - What? I never said that. - Yes, but you don't want to give a chance to anyone. - That is not true. I like picking my people carefully. - Boys don't bite. - But they can hurt you. - Point for you. This doesn't mean all the boys are like that. - Are you sure? - Yes, I am. Hopefully, one day, you will meet the right guy. - Me too. Natalie and I talked the whole afternoon. We ate the snacks I had brought. Around 4 pm, we walked out. I took everything I would need for the slumber party. Then we went to her house for the same reason. Later, we arrived at Chelsea's house. Her mom opened the door and let us in. Natalie and I walked to our friend's room. Katy was already there. They were looking at magazines and discussing the boys dressed there. Sometimes, I'm glad to be different from the rest. I don't have to deal with this. - Can we join the conversation? - I asked - Oh, hey. Come here. - Katy said - Look at him. He is hotter than a hot summer day. - Chelsea said - Really? How can you like him? - I asked - Why not? - If these are your standards, you will never find a boyfriend. - What are you saying? - That he doesn't look that good. - Are you ok? Do you have a fever? - Katy asked and touched my forehead - Yes, I'm fine. - I said and removed her hand - What is the plan for tonight? - Natalie asked - We can watch something and talk. - Chelsea said - Yes, or only talk. - Katy said - Is that Playboy? Where did you get it? - I asked - I found it in the garage. It's seven years old. - I can't believe that people still buy these. - Why not? - Because this is not a trend anymore. People are interested in other stuff. - I agree. The last time I read or heard something about this magazine was two or three years ago. - Natalie said - You two are old. - It's not like you aren't. - I'm not. - Katy, we are the same age. If we are old, you are, too. - My soul is young. - For sure, it is. - Give me that. I want to check something. - Natalie said - What are you looking for? - I asked - This. - Who is she? - Back then, she was the newest model. The girl divorced her husband because they paid her ten times more than his salary. - Did she get a divorce for money? - Yep. The girl got this salary only for a year. Then, the owner kicked her out. - That sucks. She left without a job and a husband. - Yes. She tried to go back to him, but he found someone else. Rumors say that he lives better now. - He deserves it. - I thought you didn't read such stuff. - Katy said - I don't, but I like drama. Well, as long as I'm not part of it. - Who is this? - I asked, looking at the other magazine on the bed - I don't know, but he is cute. - Chelsea, you say this about every guy. Why don't you find someone more real? I mean, a guy who doesn't dress up to look good in people's eyes. Someone who is himself. - That is your type. - I never said I had a type. - Yes, but you like honest guys who don't hide anything. - Is it that bad? - No, but it's boring. - If you say so. The whole night we spent talking and discussing people's lives. Usually, we do the same things. The girls and I might have different opinions, but it doesn't matter. We can't all be the same. That will be boring. Natalie and I went to sleep in the guest room. I don't mind sleeping with Chelsea or Katy. Let's say that there are some things I can tell only her. - Are you still thinking about this? - Yes. I don't know why she said it. - Maybe she can predict the future. - Natalie said, chuckling - No way. She doesn't even know me. We haven't met before. - Are you sure? - I am. - Maybe you haven't met her. This doesn't mean she hasn't seen you outside. - I haven't thought of that. - You are thinking much. Probably, this doesn't mean anything. - What if it's true? I don't want this to happen. - I will be happy for you. I think you need someone by your side. We are here, but you need a boy. - Why? - Because he will make you have fun and stop being so close to yourself. I'm sure you need to share more. - I don't know. - But I do. Let's sleep now. We can talk tomorrow. - Thanks. - You're welcome. Goodnight. - To you, too. That's why I sleep with Natalie. I couldn't tell her about Adriana, but she understood me perfectly. Also, she didn't ask many questions. Katy and Chelsea would've died to know every detail. The name of the woman as well. For now, I prefer to keep this for myself. It's enough that Natalie knows about this. I don't think it will happen. The weirdest thing is that she recommended drinking coffee from a coffee shop. I don't even drink this. Let's say that it's not my favorite. I don't think this has something to do with my soulmate. Well, as if this is real. I hope that I won't find it soon. I don't feel ready for this.
