Chapter eight - I'm sorry for everything

2327 Words
Jordan's POV: I don't know why Melanie said all this, but it wasn't good. She is the one who came to the shop. I didn't make her. Then she started complaining about it. I don't know what to do with her. I can't be mad at her. She is still a student. They make more mistakes than adults. The problem is that I can't stop thinking about her. The girl might not be scared of me, but she is worried. I don't know why. There is a chance that it's not because of me. After all, I didn't do anything to her. I should stop talking about her, but I can't. The thing is that I want to see her again. I was wrong about what I told her. I can't treat girls like that. Also, I'm sure she said all these things to avoid me. For some reason, she hides something from me. I wish she could've told me. More than anything, I want to help her. I don't believe what the weird lady told me, but I want to be around Melanie. That's why we haven't talked much, but she made me feel good. Well, I should hide from my friends. Noah won't say anything. Sadly, I can't say the same about Dylan and Jason. They will ask if we are dating. It's better if they don't know anything. I might say something only in front of Noah. He will keep my little secret. Besides that, nothing interesting has happened. I went to another dinner at my parents' house. Let's say my mom loves it when I go to visit them. There is nothing wrong with that. Well, I moved out so I could be alone. She knows it, but it doesn't change anything. I will always be her little boy. I hope that she won't start treating me like a kid. It will be a tough day. I hadn't seen her for five days. Technically, she only knows where I work. Also, I believe that she won't come again. I wish I knew where I could find her. I need to apologize for what I said. Usually, I won't do this. Well, there is something different about her. She deserves an apology. I don't know what else to talk to her about. Maybe I shouldn't pressure her. If she wanted to, she would've told me everything. That is her choice. I can't do anything about it. I woke up and went to get ready for work. Later, I went into the kitchen for breakfast. I don't even know what to eat anymore. I'm trying to have different meals every morning. It's not working that much. When I was ready, I walked out. I should open the shop today. It's a bit early, but I don't care. No one will come. I walked in and locked the door. I will do some work in the staff room. After some time, I heard a knock. I forgot about Cassie. I opened the door and let her in. - Thanks for locking me. - I'm sorry. I forgot. - It's ok. For how long have you been here? - Almost an hour. - Why are you here so early? No one will come. - I had nothing to do at home. - Is it only that? For the past few days, you have been somewhere else. I mean, your head. - I know. - Won't you share? - I don't even know the problem. - Do you need help with something? I see that you have ordered everything. - Yes. I don't need anything. - In that case, I will be in the staff room. You better turn on the air conditioner. It's cold here. - I will, thanks. I turned it on and sat on a chair. It's too early for customers. Also, winter is saying its word. People prefer to be in warm places. They can drink and eat here. Well, most of them have to go to work. I was on my phone when I heard the bell. Here is the first customer. I looked up and saw her. Shouldn't she be at school? I mean, 8 am has passed. - Good morning. - To you, too. - Why aren't you at school? - We don't have school today. Someone needs to fix the heating system. Many students complained that it was cold. When they turned it on, there was no heat. I mean, it was less than expected. That's how I got sick. - she said and sneezed - Bless you. - Thanks. Can you make me hot chocolate? - Sure. Do you want something to eat? - No, I'm not hungry. - But you have to eat. - I know. How are you? - I'm fine, thanks. - Do you have much work? - No, why? - Can we talk? - I think we should. - How much do I owe you? I might forget to pay later. - The hot chocolate is four dollars. - Here. Keep the change. - Thanks. This is for you from me. - I don't want to eat. - I don't take no for an answer. - Fine. Thank you. - I'm sure you will get better soon. - I hope so. I hate being sick. - Then why did you walk out? It's cold. - I can't stay inside all day. I need fresh air. The backyard is not a solution. - For what do you want us to talk? - I'm sorry for what I said. I didn't mean it. I mean, not that way. - Well, I shouldn't have reacted this way, either. - No, no. You had the full right. I promise to tell you everything, but I need some time. - I don't mind. Now, drink this. If you want, I can make you a cup of tea. - No, thanks. That is enough. - I want you to eat the cupcake. It's not much, but I can't offer you a full breakfast. If you want, I can go and get you something. - Don't worry. I'm fine. What you did was more than enough. I appreciate it. - Melanie? - Yes. - Nothing. - Are you sure? - Yes. Melanie stayed in the store until lunchtime. Cassie filled her head with stuff. I'm sure she didn't hear anything. When you are sick, your brain rests. I offered to send her home, but she denied it. At least we sorted things out. That is all I wanted. Of course, Cassie asked me many questions. What should I say? Girls are always curious. Not only them. I should include my friends. - I think she likes you. - I think she is sick. You filled her head with nonsense. - No, that was important. - How? Look at her. She could barely stay on her feet. - The fault that she came here is not mine. I didn't make her come. - I know, but you could've left her in peace. - Why do you care so much about her? Is something going on between you two? - What? No. She is a high school student. - Then what? - Nothing. - Oh! I know it! - You know what? - It's because of that note. You think she is your soulmate. - What? Are you crazy? I told you. I don't believe in such things. - But you should. You two will make a sweet couple. - Get this idea out of your head. I only wanted to be nice to her. - Yeah, right. You can tell me. - I have nothing to tell you. Oh, a customer. I will take it. - This is not over. - Hello. What will you drink today? - One latte with more coffee and cream. - the woman said - How much coffee do you want? - Two spoons. - Give me a minute, and it will be done. - Can I ask you something? - Cassie asked, looking at the woman - Yes, sure. Well, as long as I can answer you. - Do you believe in soulmates? - Cassie. Leave the customers in peace. - I want to know. - I think people invented this to describe a good and stable relationship. - So, is this a yes? - No, it's not. These things are not real. I don't need someone to tell me my husband is my soulmate. Even if he isn't, I will still love him. Nothing can change that. - I understand. - Here is your drink. - Thanks. This is for you. Keep the change. - I'm lucky today. - Bye. - Bye, and have a nice day. - I said, and the woman left - That is not fair. - Not everyone will like the same things as you. Accept that people are different. - I believe in this. - Good for you, but it doesn't mean you can convince everyone to believe in the same thing as you. - I see you are not on my side. - Not in this case. I'm sorry. - Whatever. I will be in the staff room if you need me. - Cassie said and left Until the end of the workday, Cassie didn't talk much. I don't know why she cares about this so much. I left her to close the shop. She can be mad as much as she wants. I don't care about this. I went home and took a shower. Then, I ordered dinner and invited the boys. I like it when we sit and talk. We go to places every day. Sometimes, staying at home is better. The food came quickly. I paid the delivery guy and went to the kitchen. I took the plates and put them in front of the boys. - Let's see what you have ordered. - Dylan said - Food. - I said - Really? I didn't see it. - I tried a new restaurant. Hopefully, the food is good. - It looks delicious. - Jason said - Here you go. Who is next? - Me. I want a big piece. - Dylan said - No problem. Noah, here you go. - Thanks, mate. - This is for me. - How was your day? - Dylan asked, chewing - It was good. I think Cassie got mad. - Why? What did you do? - Noah asked - Nothing. She believes in soulmates, and I told her I don't. Then she asked a customer who told her the same as me. - Why does she care so much? - I have no idea. That is not the most important thing in the world. - Does she know about this? - Yes, she saw it. - Now you know. - I don't want to talk about this. - I think Jason and I deserve an explanation. - Dylan, I have nothing to tell you. One customer told me something. Cassie started thinking about this. - Your coworker is crazy. No offense. - I'm not offended. Except for that, she is a good girl. - She was taken. Right? - Jason asked - Yes, she is. Why? - Because I wonder how her boyfriend is taking care of her. - Mark is doing his job. - You know him? - Of course that I do. He has been to the store many times to see her. - Why do we talk about her? I'm sure there are better things. - Noah said - I know. How are your classes? You don't talk much about them. - The same. I don't do much. - Maybe you can find a partner for the projects. - I have even two. There must be at least three people in a group. - I see. The boys and I talked for some time. Then they went home. I cleaned everything and walked out. I have nothing to do at home. If I call my mom, she will talk to me for hours. I love her, but I prefer to do something else. I decided to go to the park again. It should be empty now. The silence will be great. When I arrived, I saw a person. She was supposed to be at home. - Weren't you supposed to be at home? - Oh, hey. - Hello to you, too. - I got bored. - How did your parents let you go out? You are sick. - Yes, but they don't know it. I can be a great actress. - Why didn't you tell them? - Because my mom will get worried. It's nothing serious. After two days, I will be fine. - I think you need to stay at home and rest. - I know, but I'm getting bored. I can't do much there. Some fresh air will be good for me. - she said and shivered - Shivers? - Sometimes, yes. - Here. Take this. - I said and gave her my jacket - No, thanks. I'm fine. - Are you sure? Things might get worse. - Don't worry. Nothing will happen to me. I'm a tough girl. - If you say so. Melanie and I talked for some time. I made her go for a walk with me. Sitting in one place will make her feel even colder. It would've been better if she had been at home. That's her decision. I was glad to see her again. I don't know what she has, but it makes me come to her. I still want to know everything, but I will be patient. When she is ready, she will talk to me. I won't pressure her. It's not a lie that I'm curious. I should stop thinking about this. Otherwise, I won't sleep. Other things can occupy me. Also, my friends are with me every day. I hope that she will talk to me soon.
