Chapter 19 The rumble of a car on the road above wasn’t unusual, but the particular cadence of that engine was familiar, and Shane hugged his knees a little tighter as it slowed and stopped in the lay-by above the bank. The water rushed by obliviously, gleaming icy-cold in the winter air and torchlight that flashed down the bank. “Shane!” Jason. Shane licked numb lips and stared at his feet. His combats were soaked and he was freezing, his toes numb, but it might be preferable to facing Jason. Jason was going to go mental.
