Chapter 14: "A Glimpse of the Past
Reaper took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay, I'll tell you," he said. "But you have to promise me that you'll keep an open mind."
Rose nodded eagerly. "I promise," she said.
Reaper took another deep breath and began to tell his story. "I used to be a member of the Red Devils," he said. "I was young and stupid, and I thought I wanted to be part of something big and powerful."
Rose listened, entranced, as Reaper told her about his time with the Red Devils. He told her about the thrill of riding with the club, about the sense of brotherhood and camaraderie. But he also told her about the darker side of the club, about the violence and the crime.
"I got out of the club when I realized what was really going on," Reaper said, his eyes clouding over with memories. "But the Red Devils have never forgiven me for leaving. They see me as a traitor, and they've been trying to take me down ever since."
Rose felt a surge of anger and fear, but she also felt a sense of admiration for Reaper. She knew that he had made a difficult choice, and she knew that he had paid a high price for his freedom.
"Why did you leave the Red Devils?" Rose asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Reaper's expression turned serious, and he said, "I left because I realized that I was living a lie. I was pretending to be something I wasn't, and I was hurting people in the process."
Rose nodded, understanding. "You were trying to fit in," she said.
Reaper nodded. "Yeah, I was trying to fit in. But I realized that I didn't have to fit in with them. I could be my own person, and I could make my own choices."
Rose felt a surge of admiration for Reaper, and she knew that she was falling deeply in love with him.
