Chapter 1: The Legend Begins
In the quiet little village of Greendale, where farmers tilled the land and merchants sold fresh bread, there lived a boy unlike any other. His name was Theo, and he was known for two things—his unstoppable appetite and his unbelievable strength. While other children played in the fields or helped their parents with chores, Theo spent most of his time doing one thing: eating. It started when he was just a baby. Most infants cried when they were hungry, but Theo? He never stopped being hungry. His parents would feed him bowl after bowl of porridge, yet he would still reach for more. "Is it normal for a baby to eat this much?" his worried mother asked the village healer. The healer stroked his beard. "Hmm… well, he looks strong and healthy. Maybe he just has a big stomach?" A big stomach was an understatement. By the time Theo was five, he could out-eat grown men. By ten, he could finish an entire roasted chicken by himself. And by fifteen? Well, let’s just say the village baker had to double his bread supply just in case Theo stopped by. The Eating Contest That Changed Everything One day, the village held its annual Greendale Feast Festival, a celebration of good harvests, good company, and most importantly—good food. The highlight of the festival was always the eating contest, where the strongest men in the village would sit at a long table and compete to see who could eat the most before giving up. For years, the undefeated champion was Rogar the Butcher, a massive man with arms as thick as tree trunks and a belly that looked like it had its own gravitational pull. "This year will be no different!" Rogar boomed, patting his stomach. "No one can out-eat me!" The villagers laughed and cheered. That’s when Theo stepped forward. “I want to compete,” he said, wiping crumbs from his mouth. The crowd went silent. Rogar raised an eyebrow. “You? A scrawny boy like you?” He let out a deep laugh. “Go home, kid. This contest is for real men.” Theo simply grinned. “If I win, can I eat at your shop for free?” Rogar snorted. “If you beat me, you can eat at my shop whenever you want.” Theo’s stomach rumbled loudly. He cracked his knuckles. “Deal.” The Battle Begins The contest began, and food was brought out in waves—loaves of fresh bread, roasted meats, bowls of steaming stew, and pies stacked high. Rogar ate like a beast, tearing through meat like it was nothing. He swallowed entire loaves of bread without stopping to chew. The crowd cheered as he finished a whole roasted duck in record time. But Theo? Theo devoured. He ate at an inhuman pace, barely pausing between bites. A whole pie? Gone in seconds. A massive turkey leg? Vanished. He ate with such speed and precision that even the village baker gasped in horror. “Is… is he even chewing?” someone whispered. Five minutes passed. Then ten. Rogar wiped sweat from his forehead. Theo? He just reached for another plate. Fifteen minutes in, Rogar slowed down. His face turned red. His stomach groaned in protest. Theo, on the other hand, was still going strong. He casually leaned back, chewing on a chicken wing. “You okay over there, Rogar?” he asked, smirking. Rogar groaned. He wanted to keep going, but he knew the truth—he was full. With a loud sigh, Rogar dropped his fork. “I… I can’t eat another bite.” The villagers erupted into cheers. Theo wiped his mouth and stood up. “Thanks for the meal,” he said, stretching. Rogar shook his head in disbelief. “Kid… you’re not normal.” Theo just grinned. “I know.” From that day on, Theo was crowned the village’s greatest eater. And as Rogar had promised, he was allowed to eat at the butcher’s shop for free. But that was just the beginning. Little did Theo know, his appetite would soon lead him on an adventure far greater than he could ever imagine. As Theo grew older, so did his appetite—and his strength. While other boys played games or helped their families in the fields, Theo spent most of his time eating. He devoured anything put in front of him, from warm loaves of bread to whole roasted chickens. At first, the villagers thought it was just a phase. "He’ll grow out of it," they said. But instead, Theo only ate more, and with each meal, his strength became more apparent. By the time he was ten, he could lift baskets of grain that took two men to carry. At twelve, he could haul barrels of water up the hill without breaking a sweat. At fourteen, he could chop down entire trees with a single swing of an axe. The villagers started calling him "The Bottomless Pit." "That boy eats like he’s feeding an army!" they joked. But when they saw him lift a full-grown ox off the ground just to move it out of the road, their laughter turned to amazement. The Eating Contest One summer, the village held its annual festival. The biggest event? The eating contest. Every year, the strongest men in the village competed, devouring as much food as possible in a set time. The reigning champion, a burly man named Rogar, had held the title for five years. "This year will be no different!" Rogar boasted, pounding his chest. Theo, now fourteen, grinned. "I think I’ll join this time." The crowd erupted in laughter. "A boy challenging Rogar? This will be over in seconds!" But when the contest began, the laughter faded. Rogar was fast, devouring bread and meat with speed—but Theo was faster. While Rogar chewed, Theo swallowed. While Rogar took a breath, Theo reached for another plate. He cleared entire tables of food while the others were still on their first servings. Within minutes, Theo had finished an entire roasted pig, three loaves of bread, and five bowls of stew. Rogar, his face red with exhaustion, dropped his spoon in disbelief. "I… I can’t eat anymore…" he groaned, falling back in defeat. The villagers stood in stunned silence. Then, they erupted into cheers. "Theo wins!" the announcer cried. "We have a new champion!" Theo simply wiped his mouth and patted his stomach. "That was a nice snack." From that day on, everyone knew Theo wasn’t just eating for fun. He was preparing—though no one yet knew what for. The Beast in the Woods For years, Theo’s appetite and strength were the talk of the village. Parents used him as a warning to their children— "Eat your vegetables, or Theo will eat them for you!" Even the village baker started making extra loaves of bread each morning, just in case Theo showed up. But while the villagers laughed, trouble was brewing. One night, a terrible roar echoed through the valley. The farmers woke up to find their crops trampled, fences broken, and livestock missing. The culprit? A monstrous bear, bigger than any seen before. "It’s a demon!" some villagers whispered. "It’s just a really, really big bear," others argued. Regardless, one thing was clear: no one dared to face it. A Hero Steps Forward The village chief gathered the strongest men to hunt the beast. But when the time came, all of them suddenly had excuses. "My back hurts today," one warrior said, stretching dramatically. "I, uh, promised my wife I’d fix the roof," another added. Even Rogar, the former eating champion, sighed. "I would, but I ate too much at dinner. Need to lie down." The chief sighed. "So no one will protect our village?" "I’ll do it," Theo said, casually finishing off a whole roasted chicken. The villagers gasped. "You?" the chief asked, raising an eyebrow. Theo grinned, patting his stomach. "I’ve been training for this my whole life." The crowd murmured. "You mean by eating?" one villager asked. "Exactly," Theo said. "I have the strength of a hundred meals!" “…That’s not how it works,” the blacksmith mumbled. Theo ignored him. With a sack full of food slung over his shoulder, he set off into the forest, whistling as he went. Facing the Beast Theo followed the trail of destruction until he reached a clearing. There, standing over a pile of stolen vegetables, was the biggest bear he had ever seen. It was massive—easily twice the size of a horse. Its fur was matted, its claws sharp enough to carve through stone. It turned its glowing eyes toward Theo and let out a deep, earth-shaking growl. Theo’s response? He sat down, pulled out a loaf of bread, and took a big bite. The bear paused. Theo continued munching. "You must be hungry too, huh?" he said through a mouthful of food. The bear blinked, confused. It had faced hunters, warriors, and even wolves—but never had it met a human who wanted to have a snack in the middle of a fight. Then, with a deep roar, the bear charged. Theo sighed, stuffing the rest of his bread into his mouth. "Alright, alright," he mumbled, cracking his knuckles. "Let’s do this." Battle of Strength (and Appetite) The bear swiped, but Theo dodged. The bear lunged, but Theo sidestepped. "You’re fast," Theo admitted, grabbing a roasted turkey leg from his sack. "But can you fight while eating?" The bear roared and charged again. This time, Theo caught its massive paw mid-swipe. The ground shook beneath his feet. The villagers would never believe it—Theo, the boy known for eating too much, was holding back a giant bear with one hand while taking a bite of turkey with the other. "Wow," Theo said, chewing. "You hit like a loaf of bread. Soft." The bear snarled and swung again, but Theo countered with a powerful punch to its belly. The beast stumbled back, eyes wide. "Yeah, I eat a lot, but I also train," Theo said, flexing. "My muscles aren’t just for show." The battle raged on, but Theo had an advantage—endless energy. Every meal he had eaten fueled his strength, and the bear, despite its size, was growing tired. Finally, after a long struggle, the bear collapsed, panting heavily. Theo stood over it, catching his breath. He reached into his sack and pulled out a giant hunk of meat. "Here," he said, tossing it to the exhausted beast. "You fight well. You deserve a good meal." The bear blinked, then sniffed the meat. After a moment, it started eating. Theo grinned, sitting beside it. "See? Eating is better than fighting." And just like that, the greatest threat to the village became Theo’s new dinner buddy.
