Chapter 1
It was a Saturday morning.
Saturday mornings was when the chance family gathered around the dining for hours, drinking cups of coffee, talking about their jobs and laughing about the dumb stuffs they had done throughout the week.
"........ then Dibny said, 'I ordered a cup of coffee ma'am, not a cup of disgust!' ". 22 year old Barry Parker said and everyone laughed.
Barry, unlike the rest of the family, was a Parker. Mr Carlos Chance and Mrs. Kate Chance, his foster parents, had taken him in as a foster son ten years back when his dad was murdered and his mom abandoned him.
Just then, Barry's cell rang. He stopped laughing, sipped from his mug and answered the phone.Ten minutes later, he cut the call, sighed and got up.
"I have to go" He said
"What?.... why??" London Chance, Barry's foster sister asked
"It's work" Barry replied "I'm needed at the lab"
He wore his jacket.
"You coming back?" Al Chance, Barry's foster brother and the oldest kid in the Chance family, asked
"Not sure". Barry replied "Carlos, Kate, thanks for breakfast" He gave each of them a peck.
"You're welcome son" Carlos said
"Yeah" Barry replied, turned to London and gave her a hug "see you later"
Then he shook hands with Al, turned and was out of the house in a matter of seconds
Barry, being a physicist at the World Research Lab in the city hardly had any time to rest; He was all business here and business there. As the most brilliant and dedicated medical research fellow, he was quite indispensable

Twenty year old Poppy Ray-Thawne rolled off the bed and until the floor for the seventeenth time in the last four days.
"Gosh!" she murmured
she had been having a nightmare about her sister getting run over by a racing car.
"What's wrong?" Fox Thawne, her husband asked
"Nothing babe" Poppy replied "I just had a nightmare"
"Poppy, this is the seventeenth time you're waking up like that in the last four days" He got down the bed, sat beside her "What's going on??"
"I'm fine" she replied "All these horror movies are finally getting into my head".
They laughed
"You sure?" he asked
"Yeah" she sat on the bed "Now, let's go to bed".
"Okay" he replied
She rolled and shifted for about fifteen minutes. Then, she sat up, cleaned her far and sighed
"I can't sleep" she announced and got off the bed "I'm gonna fix our breakfast"
"No" Fox said "let's eat out"
He sat up, she smiled
"Is my cooking that bad?" she asked.
They laughed. she sat back on the bed
"Of course not" he replied "I just wanna spend some time with my lovely wife"
"Awww" she blushed
He got off the bed, pulled her up and gave her a kiss.
"Now take a shower and get dressed". he said
She smiled; gave no reply
Poppy and Fox got out of the house, unto the porch, unlocked the front gate and got out into the open streets
"Where are we going?" Poppy asked
"Lavetté" he replied
"Lavetté?" she spilled out, obviously surprised
"Yeah" he said "you have a problem with the place?"
"No!" she replied "I love it there"
"Then," he smiled; held her hand "let's go"

Traffic on the highway was mad, so Barry got to work a bit late. He parked his car, got out and walked in.
"What's the problem?" he asked a tall lady at the secretary's desk.
"There's a lady in your lab" she replied "she has a very rare disease, Eobard wants you to check her out"
"Thanks Ariel" he said
"Anytime" Ariel Stagg, a psychologist at his work place said as she carried some files on the desk and left
"What's your name ma'am?" Barry asked the lady in his lab
"Aurora Innes" she replied
There was a brief silence
"When did it start" Barry asked
"Like a month ago, I started feeling nauseous, but I didn't address the issue until a week ago" she replied.
"Okay" he said "I'll need to run some tests on you to identify what's wrong"
she sighed
"Can I get you anything?" he asked "Water? coffee?"
"No, thanks," she replied "I had two cups of coffee on my way here"
"Okay" he said "Then let's go to the test room"
"Yeah" she replied.
He ran every test he knew existed— urine test; saliva test; X-ray; blood test and the likes but none of them was able to explain her hight temperature, fever, breathing problem and soft bones.
"You can go now ma'am" he said "You'll get the results tomorrow"
"Thanks so much" she replied
Barry was disturbed— this was the first time in his career he'd encounter something like this. He decided to call a friend in New York who specialized in the same field as he did.
He punched a few buttons on his cell phone and placed it on his ear. After speaking for twenty minutes, he cut the cell and replaced it on the table. Some minutes later, he grabbed his jacket, some files and was out of his lab— He was going home
