(Elara) The car engine purred in the silence. Damon had not said a word to me since we left the safehouse. Camila sat beside me in the backseat with her earbuds in, staring out the window like she couldn’t wait to be out of this mess. I could tell it was just an act, though. She kept glancing at the rearview mirror or rather at Damon like she was waiting for something to go wrong. And honestly, I didn't blame her. Sera was in the front passenger seat.
