Echos of the sky

In the world of Aethelgard, fragments of a shattered moon, known as "Shardfall," rain down periodically, each piece containing latent, volatile magic. The Sky Wardens, an ancient order of mages sworn to protect the realms, use this magic to build and sustain the flying city of Aerthos. Their power is waning, and the fragments are falling faster and becoming more dangerous, threatening to destroy the world below. The story follows Lyra, a disgraced former Warden, who discovers that the Shardfall is not a natural disaster but the result of a forgotten celestial being trapped in the moon's core. She must journey to the world below, a place the Wardens abandoned centuries ago, to find the means to stop the falls and save both the sky and surface realm Lyra: A sharp-witted and pragmatic former Sky Warden whose skepticism led to her exile. She is an expert on celestial lore and the only one who suspects the true cause of the Shardfall. Kael: A young, earnest surface-dweller from the "Rustlands" who is skilled in a form of earth-based alchemy that counteracts the moon-magic. He is initially distrustful of Lyra, a "sky-person," but becomes her essential guide and ally. Archon Theron: The current leader of the Sky Wardens, a rigid man bound by tradition. He believes the solution lies only in reinforcing the city's defenses and refuses to listen to Lyra's theories. He becomes the primary antagonist, believing the surface world is a lost cause. The Whispering Queen: The ancient, trapped being within the moon, who communicates with Lyra through dreams and visions, providing cryptic guidance and revealing hidden truths about Aethelgard's history.
