The Fated Encounter
On one stormy night, I pulled the lever. The roof opens, and all of my lightning rods are set. "I need this lightning to power my core," I say while I’m wet from the rain.
The lightning strikes the rods, and quickly the core absorbs it. "YES!" I shouted while looking at the core, which was glowing brightly. "I did it! I did it! With this, I can create more things that would help a lot of people.
While I’m happily celebrating the core's creation, lightning strikes again at the rods. Leading the core to overload. "OH NO!" I shouted, "The reading is going critical; the core is about to explode!" saying while running outside the workshop.
Exactly when I just got out, the core exploded and formed some kind of wormhole. As I’m holding onto a tree just outside of my workshop, I see my workshop and all of the things inside of it being sucked inside of the wormhole.
As the wormhole vanishes, I’m just there, looking at a big circular hole that has been created. "All the hard work is gone; it vanishes into thin air." devastated and sad about what happened. I saw something in the middle part of the hole. "Is that a person?" Looking at it from afar, I ran in that unconscious person’s direction.
I saw a young male wearing some kind of medieval armor. "What’s this person doing here?" As I questioned myself, I decided to bring this unconscious man to my house to let him rest for a while.
Next morning
I woke up on my sofa, saying, "I need coffee." while sipping a warm coffee. "Oh yeah, I think I had brought a man into my house and let him sleep in my bedroom." As I’m about to sip from my cup again, I hear a shout in my bedroom.
I hurriedly put down my cup and ran into the room, where I saw the man awake and shouting, "%@$%! *@&$%@!" "WAIT! Calm down; you're in my house," I told him, trying to make him calm.
The man seemed to listen and stop shouting. "!@#%&$&!%@$? &%#&&!%. #!$$&*?" he said. I didn't understand what he said. "What should I do?" I started using some random sign language, just to make the point that I couldn't understand what he was saying.
The man nodded his head and started to say something. "#&%(!&%@& %@&! &@#*$&!%@ @#&!$&" then a glowing red circle glowed under that person's feet. "Now, can you understand me?" the man said as the bright circle vanished.
"Yes, I can now," I said in response to his question. “Where am I? Who are you? Where's my team?" He questioned me. "Whoa, slow down. “One at a time, I can't answer your question if you rush through all of them," I told him, waving my hand and motioning for him to slow down. “I’ll answer your question, but in return, you'll answer my question too. Does that seem fair?" continuing what I said.
"Yes, I understand," he replied. "Okay, first, where am I?" he followed. "This is my house just outside the City of inventions, Cordia." His face became confused. "cordia? City of inventions? I don't know those names." replying to what I said.
"I answered your question; now answer mine: who are you and where you come from? I saw you unconscious in the middle of a hole after a wormhole vanished," I asked. "I don't know what the wormhole is you are saying, my lady, but I am Rust, one of the GEM KNIGHTS that's been bestowed the Rudy gem," he said. "The last thing I remember is that we, the GEM KNIGHTS, are fighting the obsidian king on the top of a snowy mountain, and as he uses his magic to attack one of my teammates, I push him, and I was the one hit by the black hole spell, and the next thing I remember, I woke up in this room."
I was puzzled: "Gem knights? Magic? Obsidian king? "What are you talking about?" I questioned him. "Hmm, I see," he said. "I think I get the situation now," he answered.
Confuse. I ask, "Hey! What are saying?" He looked at me and said, "I'm sorry, my lady." He apologized and continued, "Do you know what this is?" As he opens his palm, a red circle is staring to drown in it. "WHAT IS THAT!?" I question him while being shocked by what I see. "It's a magic circle; it came from the magic that is within one's body." He answered, "The circle you saw at first under my feet is a spell of calm (translation)—it's a spell that lets you communicate in any language."
Speechless by what I heard, he continued on to what he was saying. "Here is my conclusion: the time I was hit by the black hole is the same time the thing you called a wormhole opened, so I think I was sucked into my world and spit out in yours," he said.
"Are you saying I cause a dimension distortion that leads to making a dimensional bridge?" I asked him. "Sort of, but the timing of someone hitting a black hole and opening a wormhole is a near-impossible chance," he replied.
Silently thinking about what he said. "First, it's hard to believe that you come from another world, but you let me see that circle thingy of yours, so I think I can trust you on what you said, and obviously, you're not wearing any battery packs to pull tricks like that." I said, "Thank you, my lady," he said.
"And the name, Alice, stop saying 'my lady' to me; I'm just an inventor," I said while reaching my hand out for a handshake. "As you wish, Lady Alice," she reaches out and kisses my hand. I quickly pulled my hand away from him, "W-w-what is that!?" I asked, covering my hand. “It’s a proper way for knights to meet a lady," he said while smiling.
Still flustered, I quickly said, "Y-you must be hungry to say something like that. Let's go in the kitchen and eat something and tell me about your world." quickly ran outside the room. "Yes, my lady," he answered while following me.
When we got into the kitchen and were eating a meal, Rust said, "The food you got here is just like where I came from." as he ate his third plate. "Really?" I replied, "Yes, this meat and this juice, we have this kind of food in our world."
As I watch him eat, I sip my coffee. "What's that?" he asks while looking at the coffee in my hand. "It's coffee; don't you have coffee in your world?" I curiously ask. "Yes, we don't. It's the first time I've seen this black liquid you call coffee," he answered while chewing the food in his mouth.
"Can I have some of that?" He curiously asked me, "Yeah, here, I'll make you some." I got up and poured another mug of coffee into the mug and gave it to him. I watched him slowly drink the coffee. *Cough cough* "what’s this? It’s too bitter!" he said while he put down the mug of coffee. "You’re drinking this bitter drink?" he continually asked. I smile while looking at him like a child that just like someone tricks him into eating something he doesn't like. "Of course, I like the slightly bitter taste of coffee and its aroma," I tell him while sipping my coffee.
"You have an adult taste in terms of your drink, Lady Alice," he said as he drank the juice. "Why? You don't like bitter drinks? I thought knights were more adult in everyone," I said to him. "Well yes, and yes, in a knight, but it doesn't have any requirements that you have to like this or that to be one," he answers. "For me, I like sweet things, like candy." he continues to answer.
Now I'm more intrigued—a knight who likes sweets, huh? I smiled again and grabbed some milk. "Here, try putting this in your coffee; it will change the flavour of it," I said as I gave him the milk. He gets the milk and pours it into his coffee. "Whoa, it really changed as you said; I like this now," he said as he now continuously sipped the coffee.
"Now you can call it milk coffee." I smiled at him while saying it. "When I go home, I will introduce this coffee and milk coffee to my team, and I'm sure they'll like it," he said while smiling.
"About that, you said that the chance of opening a bridge between our worlds is near impossible, right? So I don't know how to get you home." I said, "And the core that I was making at that time, the one that causes the wormhole, is destroyed." I continued saying.
He was just sitting silently at the table, sipping his milk coffee. "Can you create another core? Like the one that's been destroyed?" he asks. "Well yes, I think, technically, I can make it; the blueprints are safe in my old man's room." I answer, "The core that I used is from my late father, who was a genius inventor." saying this while looking outside the window depressed. "If he's still around, I'm sure he can help you go home." saying this and thinking that I'm still not good enough.
"The eyes of a lady should be sparkling with hope," he said, then he stood up and walked towards me. "I don't know the details, but you're a great inventor, Lady Alice. Look at this milk coffee you gave me; you made something bitter in a sweet beverage." saying this to me while he showed me his mug of milky coffee with a smile.
I smile; I know what he's trying to do—he's trying to cheer me up. Even though he's the one trap in my world. "Thank you, Rust, but I'm not the one who invented milk coffee." I smiled while saying it to him.
"Oh, but you were the one to introduce it to me, and now I know about this fantastic drink," he says, continuing to drink his milk coffee.
"So, Rust, tell me about your world," I said. "It's going to be a long story, do you want to hear it?" He replied. "I do have all the time now that my workshop has been destroyed, and hey, I would love to hear about your world," I added
"OK, Lady Alice, we are the gem knights that protect the..." he started the tale of his world.
It's been a few days since I met Rust, who always helps me with anything around here, even though he doesn't need to, but he insists. One of the knight’s codes, he said. He also told me about his place, his kingdom, his knight team, and more.
"You look cool in the outfit you wear, Rust," I said to him as I watched him wash dishes. *haha* "You always say that lady Alice every time you see me," he said. "Thank you for letting me borrow your father's clothes," he added. As he said those things, it's like there's always a sunray in the background; I don't know, is this a knight thing? Like a Knight in shining armor thing?
"No big deal," I said to him while looking away. "Hey, you want to go inside the city with me? “I need to stock things around here and buy some equipment for the new workshop." I continued to say. "Sure, of course, Lady Alice, I'm at your service."
As we walked on the road, I said to him not to call me "Lady Alice" inside the city. "Why? It’s a proper way to address a lady." He replied, Oh God, please say no. “Because the people around here don’t know about you and the things you are familiar with, saying something about a lady around here might get the attention of others." I said
"If you say so, lad- Alice, I will do as you say," he replied. Thank God he listened to me. When we got inside the city, the look on his face looked refreshing. "Welcome rust to the City of Cordia." I always go inside the city, so it's normal to me, but not to him. "Alice, what's that?" he asks while pointing at the cars. "HOWS THAT THING MOVE WITHOUT A HORSE? IS IT MAGIC?" he continually asks, "Hehe, no, it's not, it's called a car; it’s a vehicle that lets people travel from a distance, and it moves using a mechanism called an engine."
It’s the first time I've enjoyed buying materials like this. Rust always asks around the city; it's quite refreshing, actually. "It's almost lunchtime; let's grab something to eat." I said to Rust, "What do you want to eat?" I continued to ask. "Anything will do." He replied, "Then let's go eat some cake." I cheerfully invite rust.
At the pastry shop, I saw rust eyes that glittered. "Come on, pick anything you like." I said to him, "Are you sure?" he said while looking at me happily. I think this is a bad idea. I should set some limits. "Yes, but just one or two pieces of cake, you hear me? It’s not good for your body if you consume too much sugar," I answered him.
He looked shocked and like he realized something, "Yeah, of course, even in our world, too many sweets are bad for our bodies." He said, "See." I smiled when I said that. Thank God he really listens to me; I don’t know if my budget would keep up if he ate here as he eats at home.
After we order, we sit at the table close to the window. "So rust, what can you say about my world?" I ask him, "It’s a wonderful world; there are many things here that we don’t have in our world." He says while he looks out the window, "If we had things like this in my world, the lives of our people would be much easier."
As I look at rust saying those things, I remember that he is trapped in this world, with no way to go home. "Don’t worry rust, ill will find a way to get you home." I said to him, "thank you, Alice, I will count on you, and of course ill help with anything you need." He replied.
"Here’s your order, ma'am and sir." The waitress spoke as she delivered our cakes. "Thank you." I said, "So, ma'am, is this your boyfriend?" I almost spit out the drink I was drinking when I heard the waitress. "W-what do you mean? No, he's not my boyfriend." I answered, flustered. "Oh really now ma’am? Then why are you blushing?" The waitress teasingly said, "STOP IT, Rebecca, it’s so embarrassing in front of him." I said I was trying to make her stop.
"Haha, OK OK, I will stop." She said, then looked at Rust, "Hi, I'm Rebecca. Alice’s childhood friend." She said this while reaching her hands out and gesturing for a handshake. "Hello, I'm Rusty, Lady Rebecca." Rust replies as he reaches for Rebecca’s hand and kisses it. Oh crap, I forgot about this one. "Oh my, what a gentleman you have as company now, Alice," Rebecca said while grinning at me. I quickly pulled her arms away from rust and said, "His just like that, don’t mind him."
Rebecca sits beside me. "So, Rust, why are you with Alice?" she asks. What is this? Is this kind of interrogation or something? "You don’t have to answer her rust." I said to rust, trying to make Rebecca leave, "aren’t you on duty right now?" I asked Rebecca. "It’s fine, There's not many customers anyway." She answered while she smiled.
"Alice saved my life the other day; I owe her my life," Rust said. Oh my God, please stop! It's too embarrassing, especially with Rebecca here. "Save your life? Can you elaborate?" Rebecca asked. "I was unconscious in the middle of the forest, and Alice here helped me." Rust answered, "She carried me to her house and let me stay there for a while." He added.
"YOU LET A MALE STRANGER LIVE AT YOUR HOUSE AND NOT JUST A DAY BUT A FEW DAYS!?" She said shockingly. "You're much bolder than I think you are," she added while poking my side.
"It's not as like it as you think; I helped him, that’s all,” I said to her while eating my cake. "So Rust, how's Alice Place? Alice lives alone in the forest so that she can do any type of experiment in her workshop." Rebecca asked. "It's been a few days since the workshop was destroyed, so she's just chilling these past few days, and today we went out to buy materials for the workshop." Rust said. "WHAT!? The workshops have been destroyed!?" Rebecca said while looking at me, "What did you do? Are you all right? You didn’t get injured or anything, right?" she continued to ask me. She really is a good friend, this best friend of mine. "Yes, I'm fine, as you can see." I answered her, "And besides, rust is helping me around the house, so everything is good." I added.
"Ho ho, so it's like a family in training?" She said this while smiling again like crazy. "whatever, Rebecca," I told her as I continued to eat the cake. "You guys really are close friends," Rust said while smiling at us. "Well yeah, after all, we were childhood friends," Rebecca replied to Rust while she hugs me.
"So what did happen in the workshop, Alice?" Rebecca’s serious tone asked me. "The core overloaded and exploded," I answered her truthfully. "The core? The core that Uncle created a long time ago?" Rebecca said. "Yes, that core." I answered. "But that core doesn't have energy, right? How does it overload?" she continues to ask.
“I found a source and used it, but the amount was so large that the core couldn’t handle it, which is why it exploded,” I told her. "As expected of Alice, you found a source for the core," Rebecca said. "Anyway, thankfully you didn’t get hurt." She said while worrying about me. “I’ll be fine, Rebecca," I answered her with confidence.
"Oh yeah, I really see that you’ll be fine," she said while grinning and looking at Rust, who was minding his own business while eating his cake. "You little..." I said while raising my voice and about to hit Rebecca. "Oppss, time to go," Rebecca said and dodged my hit. "I'll go back to work now, and rust please take care of my friend here; she's like a boyish type of girl, but she really is sweet and shy inside." She says to rust.
"Yes, I know. I'll take good care of her." This idiotic rust reply, "OOHHHHHHHH such an answer, you found a nice man, Alice." Rebecca continued teasing me. "JUST GO, Rebecca!" I shouted to her. "ok-ok haha bye guys." Rebecca said as she went to continue her work.
After that tiring encounter at the pastry shop, Rust and I decided to continue our shopping, and after that we went straight home. (What is Rust thinking now?) I thought while rust silently walked beside me. "Uhm, are you ok, rust?" I asked him with a concerned tone, "I'm fine, Lady Alice." He replied as he continued to walk beside me, "I'm just thinking about our world and what happened in the last battle."
It's been days since the rust got here, but of course he still thinks about what happened to the battle he's talking about. "Have faith in them, Rust; if they are the same as you, I know they’ll survive the fight or more; they already won against that obsidian king." I said to Rust, "For now, let's just focus on how to open the bridge again so that you can go home." I continued to say, "Yeah, they are fine." Rust replied with a smile.
IN RUST WORLD
"ARE WE STILL NOT ABLE TO LOCATE KNIGHT RUST!?" says a knight to the other knights. "I'm sorry, Knight ARC, we still have no idea what happened to Knight Rust." Replied by the other knights. With a pissed and stressed look, the knight turns his back and starts to walk to the king's throne.
"It's my fault that rust is missing right now; if we did have the intel that the obsidian king is there, I would not let a few gem knights into that mission." Muttering to himself while walking, "Because of him, the others got home safe," he continued to mutter. "BROTHER, I promise I will find you wherever you are." He said as he pushed the throne door.
"GEM KNIGHT ARC, your majesty is here to report." I said this to the king and queen while kneeling in front of them. "Raise your heads, gem knights, captain!" The king said "Yes, your Majesty." I said and stood up and about to give my report. "All the gem knights that’s been ambushed in the snowy mountain returned home with just light injuries, except the ruby gem knight."
As I reported to him and her majesty about what happened, the princess came out and started to talk. "Sir arc, what happened to Sir Rust?" the princess asked. "We still don’t know the Princess; we are still searching for him." I replied to the princess.
"What are the odds that he survived that ambush?" the king asked. I know it’s the king, but to talk about it as if my brother is already dead. "I'm sure he's still alive somewhere, your Majesty; the light of the ruby gem that holds his power is still glowing; it’s a sign that he's still alive." I answered the king.
"Father, please order the other legions to help find Sir Rust." The princess says to his majesty. "I'm sorry, Anastasia, but we cannot let our soldier leave now, not now that it's confirmed that the obsidian king is back." The king refuses the plea of the princess. "But father.." the princess says, but has been cut off by his majesty. "that’s enough." The king said
"With the king's order, I will let two gem knights find the ruby knight." I said to his majesty while bowing my head. "I will let it," his majesty agreed. "But with only two gem knights, we cannot let our forces be weak now." His majesty added "Thank you for your grace, Your Majesty." I replied.
I bowed down again to his majesty and started to walk out of the throne room. "Big brother Arc," the princess called me right outside the door. "Yes, princess," I said as I walked towards her. "Is there anything I can do to help find rust?" the princess asked. "Thank you, princess; you’ve done enough to help." I said, "You open the topic of having someone look at my brother."
"And another thing, don’t call me big brother when we are inside the castle; we don’t know you might hear it." I told Anastasia. "Yes, big brother, but rust is missing right now, and I'm worried,” Anastasia says it with a sad tone. "Me too; I'm worried about him.” I said while looking at the sky. "If anything, his a survivor, you know that right?" I said to Princess Anastasia. "I know, we've been friends since we were kids. I know that he's doing well right now." The Princess spoke with a very reassuring tone now.
"Then I’m off princess, take care." I told the princess and started to walk. "Till we meet again, hopefully with rust." I continued. "Yes, take care too, Sir Arc." The princess replied. As I just got back into the barracks, I quickly called the sapphire and jade knights. "Knight Rose and Knight Dan, come here." The two quickly stood up in front of me.
"Yes, Sir Arc," the two of them replied, "you two will find knight rust." I said to them, "His majesty has given his approval to find the ruby knight." I continued to say to them "Yes, sir," they both replied. "I knight Rose, the sapphire knight," Rose said, "and I knight Dan, the jade knight," Dan said, "we will do everything in our abilities to find our fellow gem knight." They both said it at the same time. "Go." I ordered. The two of them started to walk outside the barracks. "Please be safe, rust," I said as I sat on my chair.
IN ALICE WORLD
It's been weeks now since I was transported to this world. I live in the house of my saviour, lady Alice, who's a mature and hard-working lady, but sometimes she has this cute maiden aura with her. She's been stuck in her new workshop, trying to create another core that might let me go home. "Lady Alice, here's your lunch," I said to her, but she didn’t reply, "Lady Alice." I called her again, and there was still no response.
I go inside the workshop, and she's there at her table, reading the book with the instructions on how to make the core in it. She's so focused on what she's doing that she tends to forget to eat, which is why I help her with household tasks and others. "Say something if you’re here, Lady Alice," I said as I walked towards her. "Oh, I'm sorry, Rust. I didn’t hear you call." She replied.
"Its fine, Lady Alice; here's your meal." I said as I gave her lunch, "Thank you, rust." She replied as she ate while reading the book. She looks wonderful when she is focused, "You should eat properly, Lady Alice." I told her as I stood beside her. "Yeah, next time I will." She said this while still reading the book and eating.
I took the book out of her hands. "Hey, rust!" she shouted. "You must properly eat, Lady Alice. I will give you back the book after you eat properly." I strongly suggest it to her. "Okay, fine, I will properly eat now," she replied. "That’s why Lady Rebecca worries about you, Lady Alice; you tend to forget your basic needs when you're too focused." I said to her, "I'm also starting to get worried about you, Lady Alice." I continued. She looks at me with a bright red face and says, "Yes, yes, I will take better care of myself." She replied while she turned her back at me using her spinning chair.
"Do you always do things like this?" I asked her, and she changed her face now with a sad expression. "Yes, I need to be like this if I want to keep up with my father's legacy." She said while looking down. I felt that Lady Alice really had heavy expectations in order to keep up with her father.
"I'm done," Lady Alice said. I grabbed her plate and gave the book to her. "Thank you, Lady Alice; don’t work yourself too hard." I told her. "Yes, I will rust, thank you." She replied and got back to reading the book.
It’s dark now, and Lady Alice is still at the workshop. I decided to get her, as I saw her still at the table reading different kinds of books with a lamp. "Lady Alice, do you know what time it is?" I asked her. "Oh, rust, you're here. Wait, I'll take a look at my watch." She replied. "It's 7:30 pm," she added, "and?" I question her again as I walked towards her again.
"I can still continue," she said as she tried to grab another from the pile. I grabbed her hand to stop her and said, "NO, stop." She looks at me. "Why?" she asks. "It's already dark outside, it's like the world is saying that it's time to rest." I told her while holding her hands tightly. Her face turned bright red again. "Okay, I will stop for today," she said, "thank you." I said to Lady Alice, "Uhm, can you let go of my hand now?" she said while trying to avert my eyes. I quickly let go of her hand, realizing what I had done. "So let's go outside," I told her while gesturing that I would go after her. Then we walked outside the workshop.
"Sit here at the table outside the front garden, Lady Alice; I will bring the food outside." I told her while pulling the chair back to let her sit. "So it's like dinner outside?" she asked to me with a smile. "Yes, my lady," I replied to her. I took the food outside and started to eat with Lady Alice. We talked, laughed, and joked around as we ate.
Later, after you're done eating, "let go inside." Lady Alice suggested "Wait, Lady Alice, there's something I want you to show." I said to her while I stood up and walked far from her. "LOOK AT THIS!" I shouted. "Oh, crystal deities, please lend me your power to help those in need," I chant my spell. I opened my hand upward and started to make a magic circle that glows red and says "fireworks." After I said the word, a ball of flame flew in the sky and exploded into a beautiful display of fireworks of different kinds.
As I continue the fireworks, I see Lady Alice looking at the sky with a happy expression. That’s more like it; you should smile more, lady Alice. After I'm done with the fireworks, I immediately go back to where Lady Alice is. "Do you like it, Lady Alice?" I ask her. "I love it, rust. Thank you." She replied with a smile.
