Olivia’s POV "Ollie run" I heard my mother scream from below. My tiny body shivered with fear and confusion, not understanding what was going on. I could hear heavy footsteps rushing towards me from the stairs. "RUN!" She cried out. I immediately turned around and started to run towards my bedroom and then the whole house started shaking. Everything became dark until I was sucked away into a limbo. My alarm roared obnoxiously beside my bed pulling me out of yet another nightmare. Shutting it down I sat on bed, drenched in sweat and breathing heavily. I could feel myself shivering and feeling cold even in this hot weather. I sighed tiredly and dragged myself out of the bed. My bedroom was in disarray from the previous night. I had stupidly lost my concert pass into my bedroom and literally turned everything upside down while finding it. A scowl planted itself on my face as I looked at all the mess I had created. "This is going to be a pain in my butt to clean up." I mumbled to myself. A wave of excruciating pain hit me in my head and I almost fell back on the bed. "What the..." I murmured while clutching my head in my hands and tried to remember all the events of the previous night. "Probably shouldn't have drunk this much alcohol." Somewhere in this mess, my phone started ringing violently worsening my already bad mood. I flipped all the mess again in pursuit of my phone and found it behind my drawers. How it got there was beyond me. "Ollie where the f**k are you?!" Claire roared from the other side. I had to pull the phone away from my ears. "I am at home?" I said in confusion. "Do you know what time is it?" She said in angry tone. I looked at the clock and my throat dried up. It was past eight and I was supposed to be at work, in-fact half of shift was over. "Uh.....I..." I stammered in haze. "Why are you not here?" She asked. "I overslept." I said sheepishly. "How the hell do you even oversleep at an evening shift?!" She said in exasperation. "I got drunk yesterday and my stupid friends must've messed with my alarm. I am so sorry I will come in 15 minutes." "There's no need. I have someone else covering your shift. This has never happened so I am going let it slide just this once. Next time you are late like this, I'm marking you as absent without any notice." She warned me. "Thank you so much. I promise that this will never happen again." I said, relieved. "Take care and don't miss your classes tomorrow. I will see you at work." "I won't. Thanks. Byee." Whoever messed with my alarm was going to get punched. Irritated, I went to bathroom and stood under the cold shower. I felt all the sweat, smell of alcohol and my headache leave my body slowly. After the shower, I stepped into the room and eyed the mess again, realising I wasn't going to get away from it. It took me half an hour to get my bedroom in liveable condition again. I was hot again by the end of it. Since I had time today, I decided to cook myself a real meal and take my sweet time making it. Lindsey was at work so I had whole apartment to myself. As I was cooking I got a call from Paige. "Yo." She chirped. "Don't 'yo' me." I scolded her. "Who the f**k messed up my alarm?" "Don't yell like that, my ears are sensitive." I could imagine her rolling her eyes. "One of you assholes changed my alarm and I missed my work. My manager almost ripped me a new one" "b***h we totally should have left you on the f*****g ground yesterday night." "You love me too much to do that." I smirked. "Well whatever. And FYI it was Seth who messed up your alarm." "I knew it." I hissed. "I’m going to punch him." She snickered. "So why did you call?" "Oh yeah that. I almost forgot. That Ronald guy called me thinking it’s your number." My eyebrows creased in confusion. "What guy? What are you talking about?" "You were too shitfaced to realise what was going on. You were mouthing a guy yesterday mid concert. And I think you gave him my number." I snickered. "Good for you. I initiated it so now you don't have to butter him up. You get to be the cowgirl." "Ewwww." She gagged. "I am not shagging a f*****g pole. That guy was tall as f**k and he probably still has your nasties in his mouth. You can't pay me to kiss him on that mouth." "Your loss." I shrugged. "Just block him. I am not interested in meeting a random guy who I can’t even remember. He might be a serial killer for all I know." "As you say. Well I'm going to go in now. My break is almost over. I will see you at class tomorrow." "Cool. See ya. Tell Seth I said called him a little b***h if he calls." "Will do hon." She laughed and hung up. I cooked myself a nice meal and sat down on the sofa to devour it. Hangover was intense and I was hangry. Thankfully I had no company, that gave me much needed space and silence. Moments like this were rare and I cherished them fully. I rarely had time to relax like this and lounge around. I would be at work at this time usually and in daytime I had classes from seven a.m. to two p.m. I lived with a girl called Lindsey who was from Michigan. She had moved to Los Angeles to study coding and software engineering just like me. I met my group of friends in the class and they are a rowdy bunch. We partied, went camping, vacations and did a lot of things frequently because according to Aaron these years are fillers of memories and we should not leave any opportunity to live these years to fullest. Thinking about my friends puts a smile on my face instantly. They had become my anchor in such a short time. My life had been pretty mundane and lonely but at-least I had friends now. I didn't have a normal childhood like every other kid. In fact I don't even remember most of my childhood. There's a specific part of my memory that is missing and no matter how hard I think back, I never seem to find an answer. It felt like I was missing something important, something that I should remember at any cost but no matter how much I tried, the void never went away. My parents were part of my important memories as it is the only place they lived. They died when I was a little kid in a house fire. I always see my mother's face in my nightmares and she is always telling me to run. I never complete the nightmare and it leaves me confused. My mother's sister took me in and she raised me like her own. She doesn't have any children so I became my aunt's and uncle's one and favourite child. They gave me everything, more than I asked for and for that I'll be forever grateful but still there's a part of me that refuses to put her in my actual mother's place. My thoughts were scattered all around the place when my phone rang again. It was my aunt's.
