Olivia’s POV
Eventually I came home after a long day. I was anxious, constantly looking over my shoulder worried that someone might be following me to my home.
I plopped down on my bed, too drained to even think about today. My phone rang in my bag again.
I groaned and fished it out, assuming one of my friends called.
The same private number flashed on my screen again.
My heartbeat resonated in my ears as anxiety rose up again. I was going to get locked up for sure. Someone was going to turn me in. My life was going to go to s**t.
“Who are you?” I hissed in the phone.
“Olivia Martin. That’s no way to talk to the person who knows your dirty secrets.” The man chuckled.
“What the f**k do you want?! I don’t even know who you are.”
“I have a proposal for you.” The man said.
“You think I’m f*****g stupid to do any kind of deal with you?!”
“Oh but you are in no goddamn position to turn me down little girl.”
“I don’t even know you. Why are you calling me! I’m not helping some psycho.”
“Be very careful about what you say to me Olivia. I will not hesitate to turn over the evidence of your little crime.” He threatened.
All the blood from my face drained. Dizziness was threatening to takeover me.
“W-what?”
“I know you killed a man in Angelina Romano’s apartment. I have video evidence with you putting three bullets in that man. I will be delighted to give it to the cops. They’ll have a f*****g field day with that one.”
I’m f****d. So f****d.
In that moment, I felt what true fear felt like, tangible and left a bad taste in my mouth. My hands trembled, feet almost giving up.
“P-please no. I d..”
“Save the crying. You can get me something I want.”
“What?”
“The Italian mafia princess.” The man said with so much venom in his tone.
“What the f**k are you talking about?” I cried. “Mafia? I’m a normal f*****g college student. Why would I know a mafia princess!”
He laughed, loud and ugly.
“You commit a murder with the sister of the Italian don and you are telling me you don’t know who she was.”
“Look asshole. I don’t go around asking people if are in mafia. f**k you.”
“I’ll say this once. I want Angelina Romano’s whereabouts. If you manage to do that, I’ll burn all the evidence.”
“Of course. I’ll call her right away and tell her that some psycho wants her so it’ll be a big help of she willingly offers herself so I can save myself from jail!” I hissed, tears streaming down my face. “What you are asking is impossible!”
“I don’t care how you do it, I want her to crawl out of the hole she’s hiding. I’ll give you two days. Oh and when you finally do get to her, tell her that Marcello Bellini sends his regards.”
With that he cut the call.
I fell on the bed. All my hopes and dreams came crashing down. I could hear the police sirens and see myself inside a f*****g prison for homicide.
I did the next most illogical thing I could do. I called my aunt.
“Hey Ollie. How are you sweetie?” Her sweet angelic voice came through the phone and an ugly sob ripped through my chest.
“I….i a-am goo….” I stammered, hiccuping.
“What happened Olivia? Why are you crying?”
“I’m sorry. I am just missing you guys. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have left like that!” I lied.
“It’s fine Ollie. Why don’t you come home? Rest a little.”
“I’m coming right now. I don’t feel good here.” I said.
I didn’t care if I was given an ultimatum. I would come back tomorrow and think of a solution. Right now, I needed a motherly support.
I literally stuffed my belongings in a bag along with all the things I found regarding my parents. I took my car keys and I ran to my car.
Before I started to drive I thought of giving one last call to Angelina.
Someone picked up again.
“Is this Angelina?” I spoke.
“What you want?” Her voice came through and I could not f*****g believe it.
“Angelina! What the hell?! I have been trying to call you!” I spat into the phone.
“Look. I don’t use this number anymore. Why did you call? It’s best that wet don’t speak after what happened you know.”
“You think I called to talk about weather?! Someone knows about the murders Angelina! A man named Marcello Bellini called me, blackmailing me to give your location or he is going to give all the evidence to the cops. He spat all sorts of nonsense about you being a Mafia princess. I don’t know what to do, I’m f****d!” I cried out.
She murmured something in Italian and the call f*****g ended.
“What the…. Hello?”
“f*****g b***h!” I hissed.
I was in this mess because of Angelina in first place and now she ghosts me like I’m the problem. I knew she was going to be a pain in my ass.
Cursing and crying, I started my journey to aunt’s house. The traffic was limited due to nighttime and soon I left the city behind, joining the almost empty roads.
My mind was going numb from trying to think of a way out from the mess.
The quiet night, cold breeze and the empty roads brought a little calm but I was still very much shaking.
Soon I left the highway and joined a narrow road that connected to my aunt’s town.
The real problem started when a couple of black SUVs started chasing me aggressively and my fear elevated teen folds.
My phone rang and I jumped. Angelina’s name flashed on TVs screen.
“Now’s not the time Angelina!” I yelled, looking in the mirror.
“I’m sorry Olivia. You are a good person and I never intended for this to happen!” She said, sounding apologetic.
A spike of fear went down my spine.
“What are you talking about?!”
“I shouldn’t have never asked for your help. But whatever happened can’t be undone. You are unfortunately a loose end and I can’t have loose ends. I hope you will forgive me.” She and ended the call.
Just as she did, I saw a f*****g Gunn come out of the cars passenger seat behind me, aimed directly at me.
“NOOO s**t!” I screamed and accelerated.
This time, I was at the peak of my fear and my heart was going so crazy I thought I was going to do into cardiac arrest. Was Angelina trying to kill me?! Was she really from mafia?! Was this how I died?!
My vision was blurred and my boat frozen in fear.
The cars were chasing me relentlessly. I could only keep my eyes on road and try not to hit anything or kill myself.
I was alone on road with men chasing me down. If I was lucky enough to survive tonight, I was going to turn myself in. Being alive was better than being murdered on an empty road and thrown in a ditch.
They started to f*****g shoot and I lost my s**t.
“NOOOO FUCKK!”
A bullet hit my rear left tire and my car swerved. The car collided into a giant light pole and I hit my head on the steering.
I could hear the SUVs stop. The bright lights flashed into my eyes as my vision blurred from the injuries. I could barely make out the shadows multiple men as they creeped closer until I finally passed out.
