Keira ‘IT’S OVER. WHENEVER WE CROSS PATHS, LET’S PRETEND THAT WE DIDN’T KNOW EACH OTHER.’ It had been a few days and that was the last message I received from Sev, my asshole ex-boyfriend. I still couldn’t believe he ended our five years of relationship with just a hurtful text message. He even had the guts to block me from his social media accounts. ‘The nerve of that jerk!’ And now, Sev and his new girl, Chloe, were going to announce their engagement. Chloe was a gorgeous, well-known celebrity. And that must be the reason why he wanted us to pretend that we didn’t know each other. He seemed embarrassed that it was me before Chloe. And if he thought he can ditch me just like that, he better think again. Because… “You just wait, Sev, I am going to get my revenge.” My phone rings. It was Corrine, my best friend. “Hey, Corrine. What’s up?” My eardrums almost exploded when I heard her start nagging and shouting at me from the other line. “Have you gone nuts?! What are you thinking attending your ex-boyfriend’s engagement party?” I could picture how Corrine’s neck ligaments were stretching and threatening to explode. I sighed. “Calm down, Corrine. What was wrong with me attending Sev’s engagement?” I asked calmly. “Are you really asking me that? Well, let me answer you…” she paused. “Everything! Everything that is running in your head right now is wrong. I know you, Kei. You may not be the type to speak a lot but your mind works double time. So whatever is running in your head, quit doing it, okay? Where are you right now? Tell me you are still at your house.” Panic was evident in her. She talked past and she was like that when she was in panic. I rolled my eyes. “Yeah. Still here.” I nonchalantly answered. “Great! Wait for me in fifteen.” And Corrine hung up. I sighed again before throwing my phone above my bed. I turned at my reflection in the mirror. I decided to wear a beautiful and revealing bare-back red evening dress. And the color emphasizes my creamy complexion. ‘I’ve never worn such clothing like this.’ I was satisfied with how I look but I was not sure if I would still be comfortable once I left the house. It was not my usual outfit. But desperate times call for desperate measures. Sev should know that he made the wrong move in throwing me just like that. ‘I will not give him the peaceful engagement that he wanted.’ I sighed. I needed to go now before Corrine arrived and tied me down to my bed… just to stop me from doing such a thing. I drove myself straight to the luxury hotel, and inquired about Sev and Chloe’s engagement. The receptionist showed me the way. I thanked her and quickly went to the elevator lobby. I would not lie. I was quite nervous. I was not the person to make a scene and this would be my first and last. I just didn’t want to give Sev the last laugh. It should be mine. ‘But will he ever regret dumping me? I have no match with Chloe.’ I might come from a rich family too but I was the unseen daughter of the Hepburn family. I was the only daughter but my parents seem to forget that they have one. They were focused with my twin brother Kurt—the next CEO of Hepburn Technology. And I didn’t care at all. I was done pleasing them. ‘Whatever. As long as I showed Sev I wasn’t the kind to be easily bullied, I will be fine.’ I heaved a deep breath. I was about to open the door when someone grabbed my arm and pulled me away. “What the heck are you wearing? It’s your wedding day and not just an ordinary party!” The arrogant baritone voice suddenly blew my ears. I could hear his gritting teeth. And when I looked up at him, I couldn’t help but… gasped. The man was absolutely gorgeous in his wedding tuxedo. His eyebrows frowned. That turned up nose was as arrogant as his voice. His jaw, though tightening, just suited him better. He… he was hot! I couldn’t help but open my mouth in astonishment. ‘No man had the right to be this gorgeous!’ “What? Are you going to stare at me all night? We’re late for our appointment, already.” He grumpily said. “H-Huh? Are you talking to me?” I was confused. What was going on? Who was this handsome guy? “Who else? It’s our wedding and you can’t back out, anymore. We had a deal and don’t try any tricks on me. It won’t work.” He warned. Wedding? ‘What wedding? I was going to attend an engagement party, not a wedding!’
