Marsh groaned as the sunlight poured through the window, stinging his eyes and rousing him. His head throbbed painfully as he sat up, and had him cursing the previous night's drinking. And the nights before that. Prying his eyes open, he scowled at the tumbler mocking him from the nightstand. With a grunt, he threw out his hand. The cut crystal spun as he hit it with a glancing blow, sending it spiraling off the nightstand. Luck kept it from shattering, and it hit the floor with a hearty clunk and rolled the length of the room. Dragging his hand over his face, he grimaced.
