I was floating, borne upon a warm golden cloud. Dots of light erupted before my closed eyelids and I gasped, sucking in sweet, cool air. I shot upward, gasping and coughing, my hand flying to my throat as I looked around in panic. I was in a room, though it was unfamiliar. My heart thundered in my chest as I took in my surroundings. The walls were a pale yellow, broken into sections by thick wooden beams that reached from floor to ceiling. The floor was composed of pretty well worn rosewood, as if many pairs of feet had walked the planks. Lowering my hand, I flipped the quilt off me and swung my feet from its warmth.
