When the mercenaries were sent by Ares and Damon, they were told to scour every cave and crevice in Nilanya. After Eric had returned, he explained the phenomenon of the special realm and cave to them, so they assumed that their mate and brother would still be in Nilanya. Although this was a few days after Zaira and the Shadowmoon Heirs fell into a crack, they deduced that even if they managed to survive that fall, they would surely stay someone safe to recover before going to Tenebris.
So when the mercenaries returned empty handed and told them that they could even find a hole in Nilanya, talk less of a cave, Damon and Ares were beyond shocked.
They had eventually considered going all they way to Nilanya to find them, but, incidences kept occuring in the pack and eventually, Winter came
