“ There's a saying that goes this way, «hope but don't expect» my story is an example of that quote. My parents were very happy when they got married, promising each other they will not leave each other, when they first had their handsome Isaac, the joy was beyond words alone, they hope things will get better, well things did not get better actually..... when I entered the story. The sliver family were please to have another child, the joy was too much they threw a celebration party. The day I was born, was the day, the Sliver's family change forever, every parent will be expecting a beautiful baby girl or boy with beautiful skin color and bright eyes and joy. Well.. The day I was born, was the day my grandparents from both side died, my mum gave birth to me with sadness, when my father was rushing my mother to the hospital, it started raining heavily, everything looked so disastrous. Instead of a hospital I was taking to a nearby church because of the rain, the nuns helped my mother to get me out, they pick me up and stared at me in disgust. “ umm congrats it's a girl.” she said but her words does not sound pleasing to my mum ear, my mom held me and let out a loud scream that made my father rushed in panting he took one good look at me and fainted. “ I won't blame him tho... I had multicolor hair instead of regular hair, very pale skin, I guess he fainted when he saw I only have one ear, my lips where dark. My mum named me Ravenna meaning darkness but my dad named me Anna mean Grace. My mother did not even want look at me. Years later when I was Two, I was sitting in the backyard, it was my brother Isaac birthday and they want to throw him a party, they never through me a party. My parents homeschooled me. Isaac was four years older than me. They were working on his birthday party and he was very happy, because father brought him his favourite toy. “ Anna look my birthday present.” My brother said excitedly. I don't really know how to speak English very well that time so I responded with a nod. when the guess arrived my mom took me to my room. “ don't come out for any reason ” my mum told me and I nodded. This was when I made them divorce. Dad stood in back of mum, folding his hand. “ Why?” he said looking at my mum. “ well I don't want to scare of the guest.” My mum replied coldly. “ this is the third time, I agree she should be homeschooled by you, you always have an excuse of not celebrating her birthday and and you always keep her inside, you are not letting her to mingle with her mate.” Dad shouted. “ she doesn't have any mate, this girl doesn't need any birthday.” Mum yelled back. “ Bae she's your daughter.” he said calmly. “ never she's not. ” Mum said and stormed out of there. My dad stood there looking at me pitifully. Then he packed few of my clothes and toys and also his own and carried me. when we went into the living room the guest gasped, my mum turned around and saw me and my dad. “ no need to panic, she's just a baby, my baby. ” he said and walked past mum and whispered goodbye. Isaac ran to dad. “ where are you going daddy, take me with you.” Isaac said but mum grabbed him and we left never coming back except dad want to visit Isaac. We moved to another city, my family doesn't have money problem so life was comfortable for us. I was enrolled in my brother school, it was a fancy school... anytime I see mum coming to pick my brother she pretends she didn't see me. I won't blame her, It's my fault. I think I also lost my brother's love after that because he started being so cold to me lately. One day he took me out side the school gate and told me how angry he was. “ I don't know why you decide to be born a monster, broke my family and took my father away from me.” Isaac shouted at me but I just stared at him.“ Talk!! oh? I forgot you only have one ear.” Isaac said. “ I hate you!!! ” he said and pushed me. I think that's the day I cried. I wasn't a bright kid, the teachers always put me at the back if the class, when I have a question, they ignore me and that made me really slow in learning when my father heard about this, he turned red. one day he came to the school with me. “ my daughter is going to three years very soon and she can't even say the complete alphabet or even say one to ten...why?” my father lashed out. “ I'm sorry sir, she must be slow in learning.” the principal said, trying to calm my father down. “ she can't spell her name.” my dad said. “ four letters... two A and an N.” my father said the principal looked at me. “ Anna spell your name?” the principal said smiling, hoping I won't disappoint her. well she shouldn't except me to know it. “N...A” I said. my father looked at the principal and looked at me and back at the principal. “ I need improvement ma.” my father said and walked out of there holding my hand. That night my dad came to my room and read me a bedtime story for the first time, he brought me toys of alphabet, building blocks, storybooks and Ipad for my learning, he even celebrated my birthday and it work very well, I started learning how to read and write and speak well, dad told me my voice was angelical, but I know he was just being nice. I might be happy but I only keep a straight face, emotionless. One night after my dad read me a bed time story, he looked at me and said. “ what are you always thinking about?” dad asked me with a worried look. “ nothing daddy.” I responded, dad smiled at me. “ you sure, do you miss momma?” he asked. “ I wish I can.” I didn't know why I said or what it meant that because dad looked at me and I could see tears in his eyes. I was quite short for my age, and my face still looks like a baby. “ do you want a mama?” he asked again and I nodded, he covered his face with his arm. “ I'm sorry.” he said and hugged me. he looked at my right side of my face, normal an ear supposed to be there. “ Do you want an ear?” he asked. “ no I'm fine” I replied. “ you no you are beautiful?” he said. I nodded no and he said I am. I noticed dad putting my photo everywhere in the house and bringing different woman to the house and if any of them shows a face of disgust he will not bring them over again and I wonder why... but when it became a routine I decided not to bother about it, but one day when he came home with a particular woman for seven days he announced to me that this will be my new mum.
