21 KILLIAN I heard Lavinia’s scream. I dropped the prototype on the floor. I ran to her. But I was too late. She disappeared into the smoke. Rage surged in every cell of my body. I didn’t think. I grabbed Eldon’s shoulders and dove into the box before it closed. We landed hard on the rough ground, me on top of Eldon. I knew the bastard was bleeding out, but I didn’t care.
