23 KILLIAN I walked into Vulzal’s lair as if I was a guest. No monster stopped me, but they all watched me. Some followed me, some snarled at me, some jumped in front of me and snapped their jaws as if that would scare me away. I had already caught Lavinia’s scent on the outside and it was stronger in here. Nothing, not even if the monsters in here attacked me, would stop me from getting to her. I emerged into the central, bigger room in the underground lair, and just as I expected, Lavinia was before Vulzal, her hands and feet bound, and her face pale while Vulzal told her, in a subtle way, that she was going to be his dinner.
