3. NEWNESS ACE’S POV “Did she really say that she is going to start her law firm?” My dad snapped as he smashed the wine glass he had been holding in the wall and it shattered to a million tiny pieces. “Rinda!” He yelled. “Come and clear the mess Rinda!” He repeated yelling and the poor maid come in running and started cleaning his mess. Rinda was so afraid and you could note that by the way her cheeks flushed red. “Dad, take it easy,” I tried to talk some sense into my dad. “Don’t tell me to take it easy. That Carter girl is going to diminish us,” He was huffing and puffing. “Dad, why say such a thing?” This touched me. What does he mean by saying that he will diminish me? Doesn’t he know that I am capable of bringing that little w***e down? I did not spend all three years in law school to be brought down by that little b***h! “Have I said something wrong?” He glared at me. “For starter’s dad, I am not going to make our law firm Fail. We have grown it for years and as per now it is in the best in the country. I am going to work even harder and trust me, that Carter girl won be in position to bring it down,” I vowed to him. “I hope you act your word. This will require you to work on more cases and win them. I don’t want to underestimate you son now that you have taken the managerial position from me. You didn’t go to the best law school to be ordinary. We are billionaire’s son and I want the status to remain the same. We need to have more. You know my rule son, we need more.” My dad jested. “Yes dad, I promise I will make you proud,” I swore. “Daddy,” My son Jayden walked into the room. “Rinda, come and take the baby. Play with her or something. I am still talking to my son,” My dad shouted scaring my kid. There was nothing I could do, my dad worked his ass of for us and now it was my turn to work my ass off for the family. Despite his anger issues, we respect him. Rinda come and took Jayden away. He was still crying out of the fear of my father. “He is just a little boy,” I really loved my son. “He has to be strong. At that age, I had already taught you to be strong.” He recalled. “Really?” I gasped. “Yea, it has always been the two of us son. After your mother was robbed at gunpoint and she suffered shock ever since, I have always wanted you to be strong,” He said his hoarse voice a bit shaky. “I will be strong dad. No one is going to bring us down. The Kennedy’s law firm will thrive,” I jested. “Yes son!” He was happy with me. He etched a smile permanently on his face just for a few seconds. “Last tip my son, forget about women. They will bring you down. Don’t be attached to any. Thy will be a source of your downfall. Let it be about your firm and Jayden,” He advised me and I nodded. I was really done with women. Yvonne has really proved to be the opposite of what I had thought of her. She sourced some skills from me and she is now going to use it against me. But, I was not going to back down. I will show her where she really belongs. “Yes dad. No more women in my life.” I nodded fully. “Rinda! Get us some cold whiskey,” My dad called out and I knew it was a time of a celebration. I was going to do this. I was really going to make him proud. Kennedy’s law firm will be known all across Mountain view and other towns surrounding it. When I report to work, may changes will take place for the good of our law firm. No more laxity and lazy lawyers who can hardly win a case. My reign to shine had officially started and I was not going to look back. Not now, not ever.
