Chapter 8

 It’s sem break today and my parents took a leave so that we will gonna spend our reunion on Boracay. I don’t want to go because I hate the side of my dad because they are too cruel and harsh but I don’t have any choice because mom really force me.

“Princess your relatives will be happy if they will see you again after so many years.” Mom said.

“Mom I really don’t want to go there besides wala naman akong gagawin doon.” I replied.

“Hay nako baby, I just care about your social life kasi if dito kalang palagi sa bahay mabubulok ka.” Mom is mad already so I just packed some needed things.

We are on the plane but Mom still explaining how should I approach my relatives and cousins because they always wanna perfect all things. I just don’t want what happened 5 years ago when I was 10 kaya I don’t wanna spend my precious time for them because I know ang maririnig ko lang ay puro chismis at katanungan sa buhay namin.

Flasback

“Baby Lezia today we will going to Siargao because we will have a reunion and you will gonna see your cousins and relatives. You have to smile beautifully and greet them respectfully.” Mom said that makes me excited.

“Mom I hope they will gonna like me.” I said excitedly.

“They will like you darling.” Mom said who’s also excited.

We were so excited to meet my relatives because it’s my first time to see them. I expected them to compliment and they will like me. I always expect things to be like this and like that.

“Hi guys, welcome!” The eldest sister of dad said.

“Hello po, I am Zylezia.” I greeted.

“Hello napakaganda mo naman Zia.” she said with a smile.

“Thank you so much po.” I smiled.

I was happy because I received a compliment so I was expecting many people to compliment me more.

“Oh that’s your daughter Liam?” My grandma asked.

“Yes Mom, she’s so pretty right?” Dad replied.

“Hi grandma!” I smiled.

“Well she’s cute pala but no one could be prettier than my beautiful apo” Grandma said then she looks at to my other cousin, the one who she mentioned, Bianca.

I just smiled then I walked out. I told myself not to cry because only weak people are required to cry. My mom entered then she comforted me as she can. I am sad because people always have a favorite.

“Honey wag mong dibdibin yung sinabi ni Lola okay?” Mom said.

“Yes mommy.” then I hugged her.

“Baby kahit anong sabihin sayo ng tao wag na wag mong talikuran ang mundo. Kahit nahihirapan kana please lang anak wag.” Mom said then she smiled.

Then after that day, I taught myself not to cry nor show my feelings to anyone. I didn’t questioned life why I existed because I know people are too harsh and I have to endure and be hard on myself because my mom said so.

End of Flashback

“Hi Grandma” I greeted with a smile.

“Hello my dear. How are you na? You’ve gotten so pretty honey.” she replied then she hugged me.

“Thanks po.” I just smiled and I know that she feels guilty because Ate Bianca who she praise and confidently present to anyone got pregnant, so she said that I should I be the one who’s gonna be heir nalang.

I just greeted them and then I asked permission to Mom and Dad that I’m just in the room if she finds me because I doesn’t have anything to do in the cottage unless if I want to eavesdrop.

When I finished taking a bath I decided to take a break from my phone and take a walk to the beach because I just got bored. I am just sitting here watching the sun sets and hearing the sounds of the waves but someone sat beside me.

“The scenario right now is beautiful isn’t it?” He suddenly said.

“Uhm who are you?” I asked because I just rarely talk to strangers.

“Hi Zylezia, it’s just sad to know that its just one sided love.” He replied that made me lift my eyebrows.

“One sided love? What are you talking about?” I asked because this guy feels like were so close.

“We met at the same scenario again. I thought its just coincidence at first but its not anymore.” He smiled.

“Did we met before?” I asked again because I was really curious.

“Yes Zylezia in Siargao 5 years ago. Don’t you remember?” He asked then he laughed. “How could you forget me?” he pouted. “Remember when you cried on the beach then I gave you my handkerchief then you said na you won’t ever cry anymore because it felt like its very heavy in your heart?” he added.

“Draken? Nath? Is that you? Omygosh! How can I remember you when your face has changed already.” I replied then I laughed.

“Hi Zylezia crybaby!” Then we both laughed.

He was the first person who saw me crying and I’m just happy because we just see each other again after 5 years. Who would thought that I’m finally meeting again the first person who ever comforted me expect for mom? I’m very thankful for him.

FLASHBACK

I was crying here because of Grandma who compare me to my other cousins who is Bianca. I know that this is to immature but it is just too hurt because I expected that Grandma would like me. She even said that the one who should be a heir is Bianca, not me because Bianca is much more fit for that position. I know it is just words but it is just to painful to hear.

I decided to walked and sat on the sand but whenever I am I always remember what my Grandma said, so my tears won’t stop falling until someone offered a handkerchief. He was smiling and pat my back to comfort me. He never questioned nor asked why I am crying but I can feel his deepest empathy for me and for the 15 years I’m living my life he was the first and the last person who saw me crying and who comforted me except for my mom.

“Hi! I am Nath Draken.” He introduces his self.

“I am Zylezia.” I smiled because he has a good heart.

“Are you okay now?” he worriedly asked.

“Yes I am, thank you so much for this.” then I lift the handkerchief he gave. “Why are you here?” I added.

“Uhm I was just walking here then I heard you sobbing so I just wanted to be there when someone’s crying.” he said.

“Zylezia! Zylezia!” Mom shout because she thought I was missing.

“Sorry Draken but I have to go my mom is worried right now.” I smiled and I waved.

“I hope we will meet soon Lezia. I’ll send letters everywhere just to find you and checked if you ever cried again. Always remember that you should always be strong and I will always be there forever and always Lezia” He said and then I left.

One of the things that made me strong is what Draken advises. I am really hoping that we will meet soon because I know I need him.

End of the Flashback

“So you are the one who sent me letter that day? You know Nath, I was so confused that time because who was going to sent me letter? May pa the one that God arranged kapa ha!” I said.

“I really had a hard time to find your address but thanks to f*******:, I found you.” he replied.

“Well look at the girl you’ve wishing to be strong, I am hard as rock right now. Thanks to your words of wisdom.” I responded.

“Well I think my words are really powerful.” he said with a smile.

We just talked and laughed and we just enjoy each others company. Sana nga di na muna matapos ang araw na to because I think this is the most happiest day that I’ve ever felt in 15 years of living. Iba talaga yung saya pag yung kasama mo yung taong nakasama mo sa paghihirap mo kahit sa madaling panahon lang.
