TRIFLES OF LOVE

A yellow taxi stopped at the front doors of Venezia hotel, and a young woman who appeared in her early twenties, stepped out from the taxi. She was in a simple pink dress, and her very long hair was loosely curled. She appeared simple, yet fully capable of withstanding any scrutiny. Her makeup was likewise applied lightly, and she clutched a pink handbag in her hand. This paired with a pair of plain white heels, made her look like a princess from a peaceful kingdom. Her beauty isn’t the type to awe people but her facial features were easy to remember. There were such woman in the world whose beauty was not stunning but still enchanting all the same and it just so happened that Su-Ho was one of those few women, who could captive those around her with her unique presence. “Oh my, Su-Ho you are here; Hurry upstairs to the opening ground on the second floor. Everyone is waiting there. If they knew you come, they will be overwhelmed!!! At the entrance door old classmates who were in charge of welcoming guests gave her the directions with welcoming smile. Su-Ho nodded, while returning the smile as she made her way towards the second floor. She didn’t know why but she felt sense of unease bubbling up inside of her. This was a feeling she hadn’t had in a very long time. She rarely attend these high school reunion it wasn’t that Su-Ho was unsociable, or that she thought she was too good for them only that, during the past few years in high-school, someone left such a deep mark in her heart that she has subconsciously avoided all of those event; This time, she only chose to attend because her high school home room teacher personally invited her. Ms. Eun was over sixty years she had retired a long time ago from what Su-Ho heard, she immigrated to Busan with her son some time ago. But now not only did she return to the country, she also organized the reunion. Su-Ho had no reason to refuse. Although she was never the type of students to catch the teacher’s attention through academics, she was just fond of ms. Eun. Besides, that person been missing for amount eight years. There is no way he did show up for this reunion right? Reassuring herself, Su-Ho find it difficult to suppress her unease. When she finally pushed through the door there were already twenty to thirty people inside hearing the door open , they all looked over to the entrance and saw Su-Ho smiling timidly. “Hi everyone ” she greeted. “Hey is it the same beautiful Su-Ho what a surprise that you actually came for a reunion. One of her female classmates said in a mocking tone . Su-Ho smiled awkwardly and didn’t reply just then the class president, Iu-Qiang stood up and walked over with a warm greeting “Su-Ho. It’s been a while, everyone missed you! How are you doing? “Oh I’m doing well, class president” Su-Ho looked around the room, but couldn’t sight the home room teacher, she couldn’t stop herself from asking where is Ms. Eun “Ah, Ms. Eun just called and said she is stuck in traffic. She will be here soon. Come on take a seat first! Su-Ho nodded finding a quiet corner, she sat down and listened to the chatter of the classmates around her. It has been many years since they graduated from high school, everyone had changed, some are now famous actors and actresses. Some are entrepreneurs and some are now working for the government. And some others had gone to study abroad. All in all compared to these people, the girl who’d once been routed as a genius could not appear anymore ordinary right now. After graduating high school, she rejected colleges in the capital city and surprised everyone when she applied to a nursing school. After graduation, she went directly into a provincial hospital to become a nursing intern. Now, she had a stable relationship with an intern in the orthopedic department of the hospital where she worked. Although his family background was fairly average. Su-Ho felt that she could ask nothing more from this life. She didn’t wish for wealth and fortune, only stability and security. Someone suddenly patted her back… Startled Su-Ho turned around. **** Su-Ho sighed in relief when she saw who it was. “Si-U are you trying to scare me to death?. “Hey, though we agreed you did wait for me by the door so we can come in together, I can’t believe you came in without me” Si-U said as she pulled up a chair and sat next to Su-Ho. “I was going to wait for you, but I saw an old classmate by the door. he said that everyone was upstairs, so I came up. Su-Ho smiled gently.. The one that greeted is Si-U her best friend since high school, who is now a police officer. She was a pretty girl and Su-Ho only close girlfriend. She is exceptionally kind hearted. “Si-U, I thought you have been busy recently”. “ how can I be busy? I‘m super busy! We are currently working on a case. But, I didn't want to miss our reunion. I ask a co-worker to fill in my shift. Oh hey, where is your doctor? Why didn't you bring him? “He had a busy schedule today so he couldn't make it.” “Not bad, I see a bright and promising future for him. By the way how is your house-hunting going? I mean the house search. “We‘re getting there at least out of the few apartment we have seen, there was one that we both liked. We‘re going to talk to his parents about it before making our final decision over it”. ”wow that was fast, you know buying a house is a big deal you both should think it through first” Si-U said.” “ “It's along Yeongnam road so it takes over thirty minutes to get to work by bus”. So.. After buying the apartment are you guys going to get married? Si-U asked as she reach out to hold Su-Ho’s hand. “Yeah...it seems so, if nothing unexpected happens; Su-Ho nodded. “Su-Ho” “Yeah,” Are you sure that you are willing to..get married, like this? Si-U suddenly asked with quite a serious face. “Well at this point those it matter if I ‘m willing to or not? Su-Ho you know why am asking. Have you really forgotten about him? Si-U lowered her voice to whisper, but, Su-Ho still heard every word clearly. A wave of sadness hits her.. What's the point? What if am not willing to forget him? This is how my life supposed to be. I surrendered eight years ago. Su-Ho said as she smile bitterly. Just as Si-U was about to say something else, the door of the party room opened. Prompting everyone to stand up; immediately Su-Ho and Si-U followed and looked towards the entrance to her satisfaction it was her homeroom teacher Ms. Eun. Ms. Eun whose hair is now grey and standing beside their homeroom teacher was him. The man who disappeared eight years ago, the man who used to be the most important person in Su-Ho’s life. It was just like a dream for him to appear in front of her like this. Like giving her no time to prepare herself at all. Su-Ho’s body went numb and her brain blanked out........
