Chapter 8: The Reverse Plan

Selene's POV 

I'm walking on the way home with Renz right now. Actually, I don't know how to feel right now. He said, he's her best friend but I am getting a weird vibe around him. And I can actually see that he's in love with her, I will and need to ask her about this later on. 

"So how was your day at the shop?" He asks. I look at him and see that he's staring at me intently. 

"Same old, just my normal routine," I said but his eyebrows met when I finished what I said

"Normal routine?" He said with confusion on his tone and face. Is that weird to say? Or maybe she actually has no routine at all?  "Do you have any normal routine? There's no even normal here in Entree's Land and you dare to say that?" 

He laughs after he said that, I started to fake laugh also and thought he's slightly right. There is no even normal here but isn't this normal for them since they're living here for the rest of their life? 

"What do you mean by there's no even normal? Isn't this our normal life?" I ask and I saw a quick change expression on his face and again, he quickly fixes his expression. That's super weird. 

"Hey, Renz!" He looks to the person who is calling him but I remain to look at him. He walks towards him and I stand still behind him, I don't know but I see that he's relieved somehow that someone interrupts our talk like he's been saved by the bell. I look at the one who calls him and I think he's a fellow hunter. He looks at me and said, 

"I really want to escort you home but we need to do something at the guild. Are you okay on your own?" He said, I nodded and smile at him. "Take care, Jane." 

I walk past him and continue my walk to Jane's House. After an hour and so, I finally arrive at their house, if I have not been exercising I may be out of breath before I can reach here, and maybe it's also thanks to Jane's body that is accustomed to this long walk. 

"I'm home!" I said when I get inside the house, I see that Jax is not in here so I take a peek inside her mother's room. I knock and said, "Mom?" 

But the moment I take a peek inside, I see Jax carrying her mom from the floor to the bed. I ran inside and he looks at me with a concerned look on his face, then I look at her mom and see a pale face. 

"What happened to mom?" I ask him while looking at her being put to bed by Jax. 

"She's trying to get my attention but I didn't hear her, she may be tried to walk and collapse the moment she steps on the floor. I only heard her when something knock over on the floor." He then looks at the shattered vase on the floor. I pat his back and sighs, he must be scared that he's alone while this happens. 

"Take a rest first, I'll take care of this," I said while looking at her lying down on the bed.

"But you just got home, you must be tired." He said with a concerned look on his face. 

"I can manage, the important thing is you take a rest or maybe get some fresh air," I said to him with a firm look on my face, he sighs then look at her mother and turns his back, and gets out of the room. 

I pick up the broken vase, stack it up, and go out to get a piece of cloth that can map the water on the floor, and then I pick up the flowers that are on the vase and put it on the table. I now looking at their mother, sit down beside her bed and touch her forehead to see if she have a fever, but fortunately, none. For now, all we can do is leave her be and let her take a rest, but I didn't close the door of her room in case she calls out to us again. 

"How's she?" He asks the moment I step out of the room, looking at the bed where she is. 

"Just let her take a rest for now and don't close the door so when she calls we can hear it immediately. Don't you have a bell or something?" I ask 

"A what?" He asks quickly. Hmm, don't they have one like that?

"Nothing, anyway it's getting dark now. I need to go into my room and take a rest, you should do that too and stop worrying too much okay? And call me if anything happens." I said to him as I can see it on his face. I then now go into my room and shut the door. I run towards where I hid the mirror and calls to Jane. 

"Jane! Are you there?" I said.

"Where have you been? I'm waiting for you since a while ago!" She said a little bit panicking

"What's wrong? Has something happen over there?" I immediately ask her, she took a deep breath and said, 

"Your handsom- ehem. Clint is very suspicious of me! Like she knows you too well that he asks me the question, 'Where's the real Selene?' " I grew my eyes wider and gasp, Clint is very observant, and he knows me too damn well. "So I said, that 'you' is not feeling well then I turn my back and left him with that!" 

"He's very observant, but we don't have to worry anymore since we are going to switched back after this night, right?" I said, she nodded but with a hint of uncertainty. After that, we talk about how our day went by. I told her what happen to her mother, and about the way, I feel about Renz, her best friend. 

We laughed, almost cry because of the struggles, we just basically talk non stop until we get tired. 

"So let's do it?" She says. I nodded, smiled at her, and said

"I have fun today, this is an out of the world experience. I'm happy that this happens." We laugh at the same time because of what I said, 

"I know right,  me too. I'm happy that I met you. You're the best friend I could never have." She said smiling. 

"Hey, you're already my best friend. Soooo, is that okay? I ask shyly. She laughs and nods with almost a tear in her eyes. "Stop crying already!" 

"Let's wish." 

"I wish we could be there with you." We both wishes at the same time and fell asleep.
