The Results of An Affair

I am sitting here in the doctor's office. Completely shocked and amazed to hear the doctor say. "Congratulations Emily you are pregnant with triplets!" Just two weeks ago. I found out I was pregnant in this same office. I have felt like I was in a dream every since, I heard those words. I am 36 years old and I am already a mother of two. I have a son that is 8 and a daughter that is 6.I had surgery after having Lily. I am not supposed to be able to ever get pregnant again, but here I am sitting in this room void of any color, smelling of antiseptic. Hearing your pregnant with triplets! All I keep thinking, is what? Man someone is really playing a joke on me. I just seen the ultrasound myself, though. I seen the three babies and hear there heart beats. Three more lives counting on me. Now I just sit here wondering what do I do? Oh my lands, now what? I am a single mother, dating a married man. This was not supposed to happen. How do I explain this to Storm and Lily, my children? How do I tell Philip? How do I tell Christina my best friend? I am pregnant by her husband Philip! Oh my lord how do I face my family and tell them. I am pregnant by a married man, and even worse my second cousin's husband? I just wanted a warm body on a cold night. To be touched, caressed and to feel love, passion any way I could get it. Never meant for any of this to happen, but here I am. I did not even know who it was at first. Let me start from the beginning. I open the mailbox to find an invitation. The invitation cordially invited me to attend a masquerade ball. It was to be held December 31, 2010 at seven pm at Abbott's mansion. I walk in the house to my office and  glance at the calendar. That is New Year's Eve. The Masquerade ball is only three weeks away. I am worried about buying Christmas Gifts for the kids.  Storm is wanting that new new game for play station two and Lily wants that new doll that wets itself. I have been searching for a month now in  five states. All the stores are sold out, there the hottest toys this year. I sure hope I find them in time. I even searched the internet to discover the same thing. We just moved back to town. I have been away from Pine Hurst for ten years. I just got this new job. The kids and I are just settling in to our first owned home. I know no one here anymore, except a few of my family members. Like I have time to go shopping for a costume and mask for this masquerade ball. Who would I hire to watch the kids at the last minute? What about a date? I have not even been on a date in three years? On top of it all I have never been to a masquerade ball. I have no intention of going of course. I never go to these things. I usually stay home with the kids and celebrate the new year. We watch movies, listen to music and dance around like fools, then we write out our New Years resolutions and discuss them. Then we turn the TV back on and watch, until the ball drops. When the ball drops we go running outside and beat on pots and pans with spoons. Laughing until we cry hollering happy new year, or that is what we had done in the past. Why am I even thinking about it? I know for a fact I am not going! I walk back out to the hallway and throw the invitation on the table. To be throwed away later when I have more time, with the other junk mail. As I walk into the kitchen I hear Lily crying and screaming at storm.
