CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE Greg didn’t like shopping and he particularly hated food shopping. It was the worst. He always arrived without a written list but with several items that he knew he needed for sure. As he pushed his half-loaded cart through the aisles, the list in his head invariably dwindled to one or two things. He would then spend the at least twenty minutes attempting to remember the things he had forgotten. Sometimes he would aimlessly wander around the store hoping to trigger his memory but the routine rarely worked. It was like trying to remember one of those dreams that slips away after waking. He would usually just end up filling the cart with more snack items. Then he would stand in line for ten minutes or so watching his frozen items thaw while the person ahead of him strugg
