It sounded like their day had just gotten a lot longer. Brian’s especially. “I’ll drop you off so you can get your car, then you can meet me at Crystal Lake.”
“Jenna will have her car there and I can drive her home. Then get a cab. She sounded really upset.”
“Not a good plan, Buddy. She’s still a witness. Now to two incidents. Not your girlfriend.”
“You’re exaggerating. I don’t see it as a problem, just giving a ride to an upset witness.”
“Greg, I can’t argue with you right now. If you get involved in a way I find inappropriate, I don’t think I can have you assist me. This is complicated enough without adding more potential problems. I’m dropping you off. You do what you deem best.”
