Mitchell and I sat on the pack training grounds watching the new warriors train. My body was still too weak from the rejection to join in. I can’t believe that little bi.tch had the audacity to ask me if I was sure about the rejection and there was no going back. Like I would ever want her, I have something far better already. I can’t understand why the bond break didn’t hurt her as much as me, I assumed, because I am a pure-blooded wolf, and she is nothing but a wolf-less mutt. I was surprised to hear the entire family break the pack bond and am disappointed that I won’t be able to torture the little shi.t when I am made Beta. My parents raised me to know my status and the status of others and how to keep myself from those beneath me.
Mitchell looked at me with a curious gaze. “What do you make of them leaving the pack?”
“I’m sure she couldn’t handle the rejection and seeing the mate she can’t have all the time” I said with more bitterness than I intended.
“That’s possible it’s just she and Sophie were so close to each other. Seems odd they were packed and ready to leave so easily”. He considered, the matter thoughtfully. Weighing what he would have done as the Alpha I'm guessing.
“Does it really matter? I have more important things to do than having another thought about that worthless family." Still the lingering feeling irked me that she let go of the bond so easily and left the pack. "What is the deal with you and Sophie anyway? Don't think I haven't noticed your interest in her."
"You know how I feel about those sweet innocent girls." He chuckled.
"Seems like more than that though." I challenged back. Mitchell came across as the great guy. The caring soon to be Alpha but I knew the man inside that facade. He was calculating, cruel and brutal, especially when it came to women. He made a game of gaining their trust, then terrifying them or trying to break their spirits. He was always smart enough to go after women outside the pack or humans, so his interest in Sophie seemed odd.
"I think she might be my mate. She doesn't turn eighteen for another month, but as you know firsthand, higher ranks can sense out our mates sooner sometimes. Just in case though, I plan to avoid her during full moons for the next couple of years. We can't have the mate bond messing with all the fun while we are away at training." He chuckled
"What are you going to do if she is your mate?" I truly wondered what he would be like with a mate. I've heard having a Luna can soften an alpha and be good for the pack. We haven't had one as long as I can remember, so I'm not really sure. My mom being the beta's mate would step up to help with things a Luna would have done but she was far from the soft and caring type.
"Gifted mates make the strongest pups. If it is her, I plan to get my heir. The moon goddess matches Alpha's accordingly. After my heir is born we will see what she can handle from me." his look turned dark and sinister. As much as I didn't care what he did in his personal life, sometimes I wondered how far he was willing to go. With most, their wolves seemed to balance the human counterpart but his wolf always seemed on board with anything Mitchell did.
"Let's get the cars loaded up to head out for training." He jumped up ready to get going.
It didn't take much to have us packed and ready to go. My parents came out for a brief goodbye. My father shook my hand and reminded me not to embarrass our family name while at training and how ranking was important. All the things that were important to him and how our pack would be recognized. We were leaving for training early to get settled in and spend a little extra time enjoying the city before classes started. I looked forward to it and had never gotten homesick being away like others I had talked with had.

Alpha Xander accepted us to the pack with our rightful titles War General Jack Morgania for my dad, High Priestess Kristine Morgania for my mom, and then me as well, just me." We felt the powerful pack link flow through us and even Alpha Xander had to take a step back. He said he had heard of power flowing into packs but had never felt it happen. He was just glad we were finally where we belonged and the power flowing through the pack confirmed it. We got unpacked, and I headed over to Sophie's cousin's house to see how she was doing. I knew she was headed back to her pack tonight, and I wanted to give her a hug.
“How did it go?” She asked. “It seems weird not to be able to link you anymore now that we are officially in different packs, I don’t like it”
“It went just fine, quick and painless, although I did feel like I had to act like I was in pain. He seemed to take the brunt of the bond break. I assumed that was since he initiated it and I know The Moon Goddess was protecting me.” I said with a shrug.
“I know we are leaving for school next week together, I just feel like a part of us is gone,” Sophie said with a sad look on her face.
“Maybe we can talk to Grams and see if there is a way to connect us together during school at least,” I told her. Sophie cheered immediately. We finished getting her ready to head back to her pack and get some things she had packed to take with us for school later in the week. Everything was starting soon for us, and I was so excited about the adventures ahead.
The day to leave came faster than I had anticipated and was full of lots of hugs and goodbyes. Alpha Xander and Beta Johnathan even came by to check on both Sophie and me before leaving. It was so surreal to have such a loving pack, I really didn't want to leave since we had just gotten here. Dad and Johnathan told me if I didn't get my butt in gear and go to school that they would both have me training at 4am with them. I loved them both dearly, but no one in their right mind wanted to train with two war generals, at least not that early in the morning.
With final hugs, we jumped in my truck to leave. Metallica blasted through the custom speaker boxes I had built. Sophie was shaking her head, laughing at my antics and love of older rock music she called it.
A few hours and several coffees later we arrived at our apartment. It was thankfully already furnished. Our books and supplies had already been delivered and were stacked in boxes in the living room. It took us a while to go through everything. Maybe we should not have cut it so close to coming over for school. The morning was going to come awfully early after traveling and unpacking.
Grams had managed a spell that made Sophie and I kind of our own pack while at school. We could link each other, but back at home, our links would go back to the pack. This was going to come in handy once life got busy for both of us.
