Present Day

Zyanna I stepped out of the shower into the steam-covered bathroom. The hot water had done wonders for my sore muscles from training. I wiped off the mirror and looked over myself. Even with all the new muscle mass, my curves remained thick and full. I looked a little more mature than I had, probably the stress of studying the last two years. My hand drifted to my hip where a few small scars remained from Timbers claws that morning on the beach, kissing Nikolai. I had dated and had fun while in school, but more often than not my mind drifted to him and our hot encounter. We had not seen each other in two years, our schedules just never seemed to match up. I called him off and on for advice on Elite Warrior Training. He has always been a great support, even when I was young. We text a lot, sending funny memes and encouragement or venting when testing got hard, but that has been about it. Neither one of us had said anything about that morning by the lake. Sometimes the messages had gotten slightly flirty, but he doesn't act any different, so I have not either. Nikolai is still single as far as I know. Sometimes it feels like I will be heartbroken when he finds his second chance mate. I know he will, he is to good of a guy for the moon goddess not to gift him a second chance. Our Future Alpha Matthew is also still single, but the future Gamma, Jamison, has recently found his mate, Lucas. We all love him; he is the sweetest guy and sassy all at the same time. Lucas still lives in the pack and sees Jamison as often as possible. Sophie and I had just finished all our finals for our respective programs. The last two years have at times been grueling and at times tons of fun. She passed her nursing exams and is a wiz with natural medicine. I finished all of my mechanic classes, including marine, which will be awesome since the Lake is nearby and our pack has a company dealing with boat and jet ski design. I’m hoping to get into work with that company someday. We have five weeks left on our lease and I still have elite warrior testing to finish. We decided to take a break and go home this weekend and send some treats to the guys at their training. They also finish in about five weeks as well. I still sometimes feel like Sophie and Alpha Mitchell will be mates. They keep in contact occasionally, and she still thinks he is oh-so dreamy. We arrived early to see family and, of course, got asked about all of our future plans now that we were almost finished. The usual inquiries. My parents are excited about me finally moving home and Sophie's cousins tried convincing her to move to our pack. Overall, the day was wonderful and it made me more than ready to move back home. Later that afternoon Sophie, Lucas, and I were set up in the pack house kitchen finishing baking the last batch of cookies when Jamie walked in "What is all of this mess?" her shrill voice came through. “We were making treat crates for all the guys at leadership training. Alpha Mitchell is heading back tonight from his pack, and he is stopping by so he can pick up and deliver them.” Lucas calmly told her. “Really? You are making a future Alpha your errand boy?" Her nasally judging voice was grating. "You aren't seriously making one for my man, are you?" She had been counting the crates."Wow, you people don't understand anything, do you? I will send him one; he doesn't need anything you low lives touched” Jamie said in her condescending tone. We looked at Lucas who technically was a ranked member of the pack, and Jamie was openly disrespecting him. Lucas shook his head, letting us know to let it go for now. “Ok, Mitchell is stopping by at 6 so please drop it off before then.” I calmly told her, handing her a crate which she yanked out of my hand. Uhg she's so rude. She just needs to be marked by Beta Joseph so she can go to the Forrest Moon Pack permanently, but then that leaves sweet Sophie to deal with her. It’s a no-win situation. Well, I guess except for Nikolai who won out not having her for a mate. We went back to stocking the crates. We had chocolate truffles, cookies, freshly made syrup, homemade jerky, freshly baked pastries and we made sure to place extra of the guy's individual favorites in their basket. Lucas kissed every item going into Jamison's crate making us all laugh at how cute and in love he was. I put a nice flat box of extra truffles in the very bottom of Nikolais' crate. I wondered how long it would take for Timber to sniff them out over everything else. I laughed to myself. We finished up and helped the Omega Cooks prep everything for dinner. Alpha Xander walked through the Kitchen because we had the music cranked up and were laughing so loudly. He just shook his head, chuckled, and left. It is still a weird feeling sometimes to be in a pack with such a loving Alpha even after two years. He just wants his pack to be safe and happy. He even checked in on all of us that were away at university. Dad has been working on managing the training program with Beta Johnathan. They have made amazing advancements with our warriors. Over the last two years, Jamison and I have also worked on putting a custom camera system on the borders of the pack. We almost have everything worked out for a biometric scan system which will solidify our pack as one of the most tech advanced. It has been a lot of work getting information to each other. Mostly, Jamison's brother Jason did the bulk of the project, working with each of us on our part when we had time to come home. The day went by quickly with the visit home. Jamie had dropped off a crate for Joseph that had some homemade cookies and store-bought packages of similar items to what we had put in the others, so it worked out. Mitchell stopped to pick up the crates and talked to Sophie. She let him know what happened with Beta Josephs just in case there was an issue with his being different. I spent the evening with my parents catching up and making them dinner. Beta Johnathan joined us as well. I love that man, although he and my Dad together were both amazing and troublemakers all at once. I had just finished my shower and put on my most comfy tank top and sleeping shorts before lying down ready to read a good book, when my phone beeped. ‘Why are you so amazing?’ the text from Nikolai read "Good genetics I assume” I sent back. My phone rang for a FaceTime call. I decided to answer it, I mean he's seen me look worse over the years than just being ready for bed. “Best treats ever! Matthew was super jealous about my extra sweets so bonus points for that. Seriously, though you all had to have worked all weekend on these.” Came Nikolai's voice booming with excitement. “We enjoyed making all of those treats. We took extras to the Pups at the Orphanage too, so it was a great time.” I told him. “So was there a reason Joseph was given, uhm, a different variety than we were?” He asked. I started laughing. “His girl came in and got pissed. We were making a treat crate for her man. She said she would make his and didn't want anything from us low lives.” He started laughing. “Well let's just say that was kind of the story we got but she called him and hyped up her “surprise” so when he got his and we got ours you could tell he was disappointed." “Well, I would feel bad but he kind of deserves it. How have your last few weeks been going?”. I asked sitting up and propping my phone up. "It went well. We just got the final testing out of the way. From here on out, it’s the easy but very boring Council stuff taught by the Elders. I'll be glad when it's over. Yours?" he asked almost sounding distracted. “Same. Testing for aquatics mechanics was my last class which I am confident I passed and then elite warrior testing is all that's left. I am going to spend as much time with Sophie as I can until we separate for real life to begin.” “You got this Elite Warrior testing in the bag!" He said still sounding a bit distracted. "I've got some stuff to do, so I'll talk to you later Sunshine.” It seemed rather abrupt that he ended the call. I read for about an hour before texting him. He usually wasn't one for short phone calls, most often stretched the conversations out talking about every little thing. Me ‘Hey, is everything ok? You seemed to leave the call quickly.’ Nikolai ‘Yeah, everything is good here. I really loved talking with you Sunshine.’ Me ‘Just wanted to make sure that everything was ok with you, you are usually very chatty.’ I watched the texting bubble a few times pop up and disappear when finally... Nikolai ‘So I don't know how to word this but you in a virtually see-through tank and no bra. Timber was giving me all kinds of suggestions and commentary that almost slipped out, so for the sake of not saying something I shouldn't, I decided to let you get some rest....’ Me ‘Oh, so Timber was to blame, I see...’ Nikolai ‘I knew you would see my side.’ I made a split-second decision and sent a picture over. One of me in a very revealing tank and panties. I knew Nikolai didn’t have a girlfriend right now for sure, his dad had told me today and, after being obsessed with him for so long, why not take my shot? The worst he could do was say no but at least I could get this ridiculous obsession with him either over or leading to somewhere yummy. Me ‘I would hate for Timber to suffer for no reason.’ I captioned the picture. Nikolai ‘Dear goddess Sunshine! What are you trying to do to me? I’m here hanging out with a bunch of Dudes!’ Me ‘Oh it's not for you, it's for Timber.’ Nikolai ‘Be very careful little girl, you don’t know what kind of fire you are playing with.’ Me ‘Oh I know what kind of fire I am playing with.’ Nikolai ‘You really think so, do you?’ I pulled up one of the pictures from the boudoir photo shoot that I did two weeks ago. Sophie and I did them to celebrate graduation. It was one of the milder ones, my back with my long red curly hair falling just at the waist and a black lace thong pantie, so my butt was showing, black stiletto heels, and my face turned to the side for a profile view. I hesitated for a second but given the beach moment and the picture I had already sent, I figured be brave tonight. I sent the picture captioned “I have a pretty good idea what type of fire I’m playing with.”
