CHAPTER TWELVE

1077 Words
Daisy's pov “Ms. Daisy….. Ms. Daisy!” I heard someone call out to me with a slight tap on my shoulder, even though I felt so weak with the banging ache on my head, yet I knew whoever this was determined wouldn't stop until I woke up. I stretched myself, hoping that some of the pain would ease, yet all my body still felt like it was fine. “What?” I groaned to no one in particular as I slowly unfurled my eyes, staring at a ceiling that was familiar to me. My brain immediately kicked into high alert. I stared around the room, a man I had never seen before was seated next to me and instinctively, I jerked up from the bed. “Who are you?” I asked. Slowly registering the fact that I was in Khai's bedroom, the previous event that happened before I lost consciousness was slowly starting to kick in. “Calm down….” He tried to assure me, it was clear that he could see that the panic mode inside me had been activated. “My name is Doctor Pascal, I work for Alpha Khai and I have been the one treating your poison,” he explained calmly, and even while he did, he made sure to keep a distance away from me. “Oh! I see…..” I shrugged and let out a deep breath. “Where is the Alpha?” “He is in a bit of trouble, even though I know you needed some rest, I am sorry, but I had to wake you up.” He carefully explained everything that was going on outside, I grabbed a coat and, without hesitation, I dashed outside. Once the police men had entered their car and left, Khai immediately rushed to my side, his eyes trailing around me. “How are you, why are you out of bed? Isn't that dangerous?” “One question at a time, Alpha,” I stressed out the title and started walking back inside with Khai behind me. “I am sorry you had to get caught up in my mess. I will go speak with my lawyer today. That way, we can contain the mess especially for the sake of your image and company.” I explained, but he shook his head with a disapproving look on his face. “As much as I want to deal with your ex once and for all. But I know it's your fight, yet that doesn't mean I am letting you step out of this house knowing fully well that you haven't recovered.” “Do I look like someone that is yet to recover to you? I feel perfectly fine” “That is what the poison wants you to feel, but it's still inside of you and until all of it has been fully gotten rid of, I am not letting you leave this house.” This time he spoke with finality in his voice. I turned to stare at him, my face all scrunched up with a hint of irritation for him. I came to a halt in the living room, stood very close to him and was staring right into his eyes. I needed him to understand the point that I was making. “Listen, I don't know what you think this agreement between us is, but I am not one of your pack members, neither am I your wife, so you can't tell me what to do.” “You keep acting all tough, calm down, Daisy, I am not trying to control you, I just need the baby to be fine before you can start walking around.” “And how many times do I need to tell you or any of your staff that humans are not as fragile as you think?” This time, I raised my voice at him, and stormed inside. I couldn't tell why I had spoken so harshly to him, if it was the pregnancy hormones taking charge or my anger toward Finn. It didn't take long after I returned to my room when a knock came through. “Go away!” I yelled with frustration evident in my voice. “Can't I have a moment of peace in this house?” “Sorry ma, but Alpha asked you to come downstairs. He wants you to meet everyone,” a tiny female voice spoke through, her voice shaky like someone consumed with fright. “Fine. You can go!” I muttered and rose back to the bed, but I knew if I wasn't downstairs soon, then Khai would have to send someone else to come look for me. By the time I went downstairs, I was stunned to see how many people were there. There were fifteen girls, both middle-aged and young girls dressed in maids uniforms and then there were twenty men standing by the side. All the men were so masculine, most of them were tall and huge, which seemed to have been achieved as a result of years of training. “Daisy! Come!” Khai called out softly to me like I wasn't the same woman that had thrown a tantrum at him earlier. I took a few steps and stood next to him, and now he was facing his staff, all of them clasping their hands together and barely looking at me. “Listen up!” His voice came out as a roar and that was all he needed to get their attention. “I am sure there has been a rumor flying around the packhouse regarding the human girl….. Yes, she is human and yes, she is carrying my child. I am sure you all know what that means.” He paused and slowly started walking around, like he needed to make his point known. “It means she is going to become my Luna, and I don't care what you all think about her, but I expect you to accord her the same respect you would with me. If anyone disrespects her or disobeys her command. His eyes had turned cold, now he was standing still and staring at every single one of them in the eyes. Even I could feel the shiver around my spine as I wondered how this man could make himself so scary. He didn't need to say the word, but his eyes had made the threat known to them already.
