CHAPTER TEN

Khai's pov. Pascal and I stared at each other for long stretched seconds, clearly he was waiting for me to speak first. “Why would the cops be here?” He finally spoke, seeing my gaze was still buried around Daisy. “I have no clue, but I have no intention of going to see them.” “Are you serious, you want them to force their way into your pack house filled with wolves?” Pascal widened his eyes. Clearly no humans have ever discovered us. A few know, but in such situations, there is no certainty about how they would react. “I can't leave her now,” I spoke, pointing at Daisy, seeing the state she was in right now. I couldn't help but let out a frustrating groan. “It's not like you have any use for her standing here. Go sort out the cops so it doesn't get messy. I will handle her” He assured me but I still wasn't convinced. “Pascal, you know how much this baby in her womb means to me, you know how badly I need it…..” “Go Alpha….. I will take care of her. This time, there was a lot of assurance in his eyes. I nodded my head, with one last glance at Daisy, I stormed out of there. “What is happening….. Why are they here?” I asked Shark who was at the door. He followed me through the hallway leading downstairs. “I have no clue, I think it's something Mr. Finn must have reported,” he explained, and now I was starting to get an idea what it was. When I came downstairs and headed outside, three police were standing at the gate. Clearly my men didn't allow them inside. “Good day Mr. Hart, I am detective Robert from the correctional police station,” he pulled out an ID, handing it out to me. I briefly glanced at it before handing it back to him. “I would have asked you to come inside, but my mansion is a mess right now because I am busy with something. How about you tell me what you want, and we can sort it out swiftly?” I urged him, but his eyes kept trailing around the pack house, like he was searching for something in particular. “A complaint has been brought to us that you abducted one Mrs. Benneth, and it didn't end there. Her husband claimed you also poisoned her.” “What!” I gasped. “That is certainly not true?” “Yes. Except some staff members at the company saw you walking out of the building yesterday with Ms. Benneth in your arms.” “Yes, she had a dispute with her husband because he refused her request for a divorce. I came there to save her and didn't hurt her. Why would I?” “I have no clue, so where is she now?” “In my mansion” “Perfect! Can we go and see her?” Detective Robert asked as he took a few steps, trying to make his way inside, but I quickly placed my hand on his shoulder, stopping him from taking any further steps. “Calm down, Detective, you can't go inside, but I can assure you that Ms. Beneath is perfectly alright. She is fast asleep now, and I will make sure she visits your station once she is awake.” “No. We want to speak to her right now!” This time, his voice was cold, the men behind him cracked their guns like they were ready to act. I found it amusing knowing that three of them would take me just six seconds to get rid of, but I had a company that is run by humans and wouldn't create a problem with them right now. “Calm down, Detective, there will be no need to be hostile today. I will get you, Ms. Benneth. That way you can finally be on your way.” I turned around and walked back inside, Shark following behind and even though he didn't say anything, I could hear his wolf breathing restless. “What are we going to do, Alpha?” he asked as soon as we were inside where the cops couldn't hear us. “Like the hell, I have any clue what to do?” “Say the words and I will get rid of them!” He growled, ready to take out their blood, but I shook my head, pacing around the hallway. “No, we are not killing officers of the law.” “If we don't, then that means we have to provide Ms. Daisy for them and, since she is currently unconscious, I think we have to choose one of the options, else they will force their way here and when they do, it won't be funny” He explained like I didn't know that already. I ignored him and headed upstairs to my room. “How is she?” I asked impatiently as I slammed the door open. Pascal didn't seem surprised at how aggressive I had found my way, he had been with me since childhood and knew exactly how aggressive I could be. “I have been able to get rid of some of the poison….” “And the baby?” I forced myself to ask, but even while I did, I was so afraid of the response that I might get. “I checked, the heartbeat was still very strong. Your baby is fine.” I didn't realize I had been holding up so much breath as I exhaled. “So what did the cops need?” “Some issue with her ex. Now they want to speak to her to be certain that I didn't abduct her, else they will come in and check for themselves.” Pascal slammed his fist into the wall at the sound of that. He didn't need anyone to tell him that it was going to be very bad if it happened. “I was thinking, since you already took out some poison from her body and the baby is fine, is there a way for you to wake her up?” He stared at me with disbelief, like I was making a very impossible request. “Come on, Alpha. You were here and saw how much her temperature had skyrocketed, you think……” “I don't think anything,” I sigh, couldn't help but wonder how much more trouble I would have to face with her. “I was just thinking that maybe there was something that you could do.” “There isn't, but I can help pull some connections?” he suggested, and I gasped in excitement. Why didn't I think about it all this while?
