A second chance
"My wife, you must live well!"
Bullets flew in every direction on the roof of the tall building. There was nowhere to hide. Liam was seriously injured while holding Laurel. Both of them fell from the building, the sharp wind whistling in their ears. In the air, Laurel felt Liam adjust their position to protect her from the blows. Soon after, a loud noise was heard. Liam had softened him since the fall. Laurel struggled to raise her head as he settled on top of her. His lips tremble. "He… or me?"
He didn't answer. She reached her trembling hands to his nose. He wasn't breathing!
He... he was dead? Laurel's lifeless eyes narrowed. As usual, he could only see a mocking darkness. The sticky liquid clinging to his fingertips was blood flowing from his lips. Although he lost his sight, he realised that he protected her with his body. His body was crushed and his bones were broken. But he remained perfectly healthy. A loud cry of despair escaped his lips. Liam, you i***t!
If he had left her behind, he would have been able to flee safely!
However, he wanted to protect her. He was blind and half paralyzed. Was the sacrifice of his life worth it? Was it worth it? Ever since they were engaged when they were young, she had madly avoided him and stayed away from him. During their ten years of marriage, she thought of him as a cunning snake. He made countless attempts to disturb her and run away. Both before and after marriage, he caused countless problems for her and made her life difficult. He punished her in her rage, tying her up and taking her by force!
And he hated her to death. But now that he was truly dead, why did his heart ache so much? It seemed to bleed a lot. It was at that moment that he finally realised that no matter who he was or what he looked like, he had dedicated his entire life to loving her and putting her before everything else. Finally, he realised that she had been sneaking into his heart for a long time. He was powerful and invincible, an existence that was not destined to collapse. How could he die like this? Hot liquid dripped from his eyes onto his lips. The taste of blood passed through his mouth. They were tears of blood. He was so rooted in pain that he shed tears of blood. She was blind to falling in love with the wrong man. It was fitting that he lost his sight and became such a gloomy character!
And now she, a blind and half-parasitic woman, could not even take one last look at him. A group of footsteps approached. They were followed by shrill screams, high-pitched screams and death threats. "My wife, you must live well!" His hoarse, low, heavy voice seemed to be still ringing in her ears. Those were his last words. Even after losing his life, his arms remained tightly around her waist, as if he was afraid of losing her. He had a unique talent. He was able to hide in the crowd and escape pursuit. However, he loved her very much. How could he leave her to face death alone? But now he could not fulfil his last request. He could no longer live without her. She slowly lowered her head and leaned against his firm chest. His body was no longer moving, but it still seemed to carry his warmth. With a powerful thought, a wave of energy flowed out of him. His body immediately exploded, covering his body with blood. He failed her in life. In death, he clung to her body with his spirit. If there was a chance to go back in time, she wouldn't want to love Damien, but would appreciate Liam and his love properly and never break up with him. It hurts!
It really hurts. Amidst the pain of the blade, Laurel slowly opened her eyes.
The moment she opened her eyes, her vision was filled with the face of a man leaning close to her. His eyebrows were deep and his eyes were far away. With his high nose bridge and thin lips, he was an incredibly handsome man.
Liam!
This was the face he wanted to see the moment before he died.
Could it be that God took pity on him and fulfilled his last wish? Was this his chance to see her again after so much time in the dark?
She didn't dare to blink, looking at him with wide eyes.
Liam felt her gaze and thought that he hated her for taking him away by force. His expression immediately darkened.
However, his icy hard gaze did not affect her. She continued to look at him with wide eyes.
He was afraid that he would miss even a moment of this opportunity.
Damn, he had been blind for so long. Now that he could finally see her, whether it was a dream or he had become a ghost, he had to fully come to terms with it!
Liam raised his hand and pressed his chin. "What is this? Do you want to kill me?"
The sharp pain in his jaw immediately sent his brain into full alertness.
How could he feel pain when he was already dead?
She was clearly lying on top of him just before she died. Why was he suddenly over her? And why did he seem to be alive? He lived!
He turned to get off the bed and stood with his back to her.
He took his clothes from the chair and quickly put them on.
After a few moments he was properly dressed. He turned back with a cold expression on his face.
The room seemed to grow colder due to his cold aura. But his gaze was hot. "Don't think I'm going to feel guilty about this. You asked for it!"
Those words were so familiar!
His harsh words made her collect her random thoughts.
He explored the room and found it to be a hospital ward. The torn remains of a hospital gown were on the ground. It was completely ruined.
The chair by the window, the pale gray curtains and the hospital bed she was lying on looked familiar.
Even the faint c***k on the left side of the wall was identical to the hospital room he had taken her to for the first time ten years ago!
Could it be that he came back ten years ago?
The terrible pain in his body confirmed the truth!
Heavens, he was still alive and so was she. It was a miracle!
At that time he was not yet paralyzed. His eyes were also healthy.
Constant tears blurred his vision.
Liam looked on with tears in his eyes. His gaze was terribly cold, as if he wanted to cut her to pieces. "Why are you crying! I told you before, you are my wife. Because you dared to betray me, you must bear the consequences of your actions!"
Laurel remembered that in her past life, she ran away with Damien, the man she currently loved. However, they met with an accident on the way. Damien fell into a "severe" coma and she
was hospitalised after injuring her wrist.
At his request, the doctor arranged for Damien to be placed in the same hospital room as him. Each of them had their own bed and were separated by a thin curtain. Later, Liam forcefully took him to the same hospital room!
