Elemental Academy: School for Elemental Gifteds

"Aqua, are you even listening?" my daydreaming was interrupted by the sudden question. I look at the person who calls me, it was my teacher with her eyebrows furrowed. I pouted, I knew that I would be scolded again. "Detention, I know ma'am." before she even opens her mouth again, I quickly gather my things and run out of the classroom. Seriously, Aqua? Detention? Again? I walk my way to detention, this is not even new to me. I can't concentrate in school because there is no fun listening to life stories of the teachers. What's with their life stories anyway does it contribute to my whole being, my future career or even my grades? I sulked as I walked my way to the detention. Not long after, I have arrived at my destination, which is of course the detention. Funny, I enjoy spending more time here than in the classroom. I knocked twice and opened the door. I saw Leon, the student president doing something, but didn't even look at me as if he was expecting that I'm the one who knocked. "Good afternoon", I greeted him and that's the time he looked at me. He might think I'm already a regular here. "Same reason?" he asked and jotted down my name in the log book. Does he even need to ask? "What's new?", I told him and sat down on the sofa. I make my eyes wander around as if it's my first time here. I tried to open my phone just to find out that the battery was drained, one of the reasons why I was bored in class today. Realizing that I don't have anything to do and this man wouldn't even talk to me, I've decided to just sleep. I'd rather sleep here than waste my time waiting for this cold man to converse with me. It's lunchtime and I just woke up. "So ungentlemanly", I uttered pertaining to the cold-blooded president who didn't even try to wake me up. My stomach growled and I decided to go to the cafeteria. As I was walking, no one even dared to talk or even smile at me that makes me always feel like I don't belong here. I arrive at the cafeteria, and thank God there's no line waiting for me. "What would you like to have?", said the cafeteria lady, since I'm really hungry, I ordered a sandwich, fries and a can of cola. As I walked and tried to find a table, I saw my classmate Reina with her friends looking at me, as I approached them I saw her stick her foot out to trip me. I pretend I didn't see it, I secretly shake my can of cola before letting her trip me and I hurriedly pull the tab of the cola and position it in their faces. "Oh my God!" she screams, I'm laughing inside of me. "What did you do" one of her friends asked, "Are you okay, Reina?", one asked. Reina looked at me angrily, and honestly if looks could kill, I would be dead by now. "I hate you", she said and before I knew it she threw her juice at me. Time moved slowly, I shielded my body and I felt my eyes changed. Before I knew it, the scream filled the whole cafeteria, I opened my eyes and saw the droplets of cola floating in the air. "How did you do that?", Reina said with her eyes wide open. I looked around me and saw people looking at me with confusion in their eyes. I panicked and I immediately ran. No one should witness that. Freak? I guess she's right. I lost track of the events that happened and saw myself standing outside our house. I entered our house and saw my mother watching tv. She saw me and her eyebrows furrowed, I checked myself in the mirror to see if I had some dirt in my face but I saw none. "Why are you so early? Don't you have class?" that's when I realized that it's still lunch. "Mom, I think we need to move." Her eyes grew wide like she already knew what happen. She panickedly ran to her room and took out boxes in her cabinet. "Go and pack your clothes." my mother commands, confused I still go to my room to pack. There are many things running inside my mind. I first experienced the changing color of my eyes when I was 7 years old, I ran to my mother crying and she said it's normal for gifteds to have their eyes change its color. When I was 9, I learned that I can manipulate water accidentally. From then on, my mother warned me not to show my gift to normal people because she told me people might not understand. Ever since, I feel that I don't belong here. I was lost in my thoughts when my mother entered my room. She helps me pack my things. "Are we going somewhere, Mom?", I asked, she then looked at me with weary eyes I couldn't understand anything. "Let's go", she said and I didn't do anything but to follow her. We arrived at Oakhaven, a forest-like place. I follow my mother as she enters the forest without complaining. We walked and walked until my mother stopped on her track. I sighed after the long walk and checked myself, I saw cuts from the sharp branches of plants that we have walked on. I looked at my mother to check on her but I immediately forgot to do it because of what I saw in front of me. It's a huge academy in the heart of the forest. My mouth dropped open as I can't believe an academy this huge and beautiful was hidden. I looked at my mother and saw her smiling looking at me. "Welcome to Elemental Academy, Aqua." I looked at the engraved letters on top. Elemental Academy: The School for Elemental Gifteds. The gates of the academy automatically opened, I can't believe what I saw, there were students in this academy in the heart of the forest, or should I say gifteds. And for the first time in my life, I felt like I belonged.
