Overlord Curse

Yanaka Cemetery

Around 2 hours had passed since the incident in the movie theater. While the police were easily able to identify a possible witness, they were unable to make sense of what happened to the group of teenagers that were found at the scene.

The police quickly swept the case under a rug once they couldn't explain the situation without some type of supernatural connotation and gave the authority to some other group of people dressed in nice clothing that showed up.

The normal people had no idea that the new "police force" investigation that just arrived was a bit more on the fairy tale side of the police enforcement program. They went around the location, grabbed the information the non-jujutsu sorcerers compiled, and left without saying much of anything.

Once they made sure they had everything they went on to report their findings to their superiors aka Gojo Satoru.

"They were killed using Cursed Energy." Said Nanami Kento. The jujutsu sorcerer who became a salary man and then came back to being a jujutsu sorcerer.

He walked into the room and placed a bunch of paperwork on the desk where Gojo was setting and then he started to write on the whiteboard.

"Welcome back, you guys. Yuji, how was the day trip?" Gojo asked as he waved with his right hand.

"Hey, Gojo-sensei." The boy said with a small voice as he made his way to an empty chair.

"Yuji-kun!" Gojo screamed as he got up. Yuji stopped and turned to him in a fast motion.

"Yes, sensei."

"Nanami told me over the phone... It was not your fault or anything and even if they were humans that is not the case anymore. Don't feel guilty over it." Gojo placed his hand on Yuji's shoulder.

"I know it. I'm just not feeling proud about it, you know." Yuji went ahead and sat down.

"Will get whoever did this, Yuji. And then you'll be able to feel proud about it." Gojo said as pulled a chair and sat slouched on it. "Give us the plan, Nanami."

"Alright." Nanami grabbed a page from the file and stuck it on the whiteboard using some tape. "Here's our suspect. Junpei Yoshino, 17 years old, student. He goes to Satozakura High School, but in the past few months, he has been mostly absent. We start with him."

Both Gojo and Yuji nodded.

"He was seen leaving the location in a hurry right after the incident. We do not know if he did it if he saw the transformation taking place or just saw the bodies and ran, but obviously, we need to check." Nanami picked up another file and placed it beside Junpei's picture.

"This is the photo of what I and Yuji fought, Gojo. They seem like curses, behaves like them, and reek just like them, but there's a good chance they might be humans who were transformed with a Cursed Technique of some kind."

Gojo raised his hand and started to move back and forwards on his chair.

"Nanami!Nanami!" Gojo said with an annoying tone.

Nanami took a deep breath and said.

"What is it, Gojo?"

"Are you implying I should try to avoid killing them? Even if I did that I don't think we can bring them back to the way they were." Gojo responded.

"I know Gojo, but let's make sure of it before going around killing them if we find more. Also, that's only if you can do it safely so don't put too much risk on yourself. Got it, Yuji."

Yuji looked down a bit before responding.

"Got it."

"From the traces of Cursed Energy left there, I conclude that we must be dealing with a somewhat capable opponent. They were good at hiding their presence, but they made a few mistakes and we have a trail to follow. " Nanami said as he picked up a marker and started to write it down on the whiteboard.

"Here's how we are doing this. Yuji will go investigate Junpei and you will work with Ijichi. Don't act up too much and follow what Ijichi says Yuji." Nanami said as he pointed the marker at Yuji. "I'll follow the trace and see where it leads."

"Yes, sir!" Yuji said while saluting. "I have a question though. What about Gojo?"

"I have something else to take care of. " Gojo said as he winked at Yuji.

"We're counting on you, Yuji. Do not get too worked up on this just go there and do the mission. Even if he is the one who killed those people and turned them into curse-like beings it does not matter whether he escapes or not. We just want confirmation." Nanami said as cleaned his glasses.

"I'm going now. Thanks, Nanami." Yuji said as he felt a weight being removed from his shoulders from Nanami's brief explanation and ran off to complete his mission with a smile on his face.

Nanami waited for a while after Yuji left and then looked at the window. A teenager wearing a white shirt with a katana on his back opened the window and entered the room. He walked up to the table where the paperwork was and quickly read it.

"So that's the guy I'm supposed to be taking care of, Gojo? " The teenager asked.

"Precisely, Yuta-kun. But I don't want anyone to know you're back in Japan yet so don't get caught. " Gojo said as he smiled.

"There's a good chance someone on the inside of Jujutsu High is working alongside those cursed spirits. We can't risk them finding out about you." Nanami said as he pulled out his phone.

"We got a report of another incident. " Nanami said as he gave his phone to Gojo.

"Oh my. Isn't this interesting?" Gojo said as he read the message Nanami gave him.

"Another incident?" Yuta asked as he adjusted his sword on his back.

"We got the media talking about a monster terrorizing a cemetery or something. Who are they sending out to see this?" Gojo said as he gave the phone to Yuta.

"The media? Normal people are seeing it? How come?" Yuta asked as he read the article explaining that a skeleton creature was running around attacking regular people. Strangely, only the police officers who tried to apprehend it were hurt. "This has to be a curse, right?" He pointed at the photo of a skeleton wearing some mismatched rags, a sword, and a shield.

"It's probably Momonga's work. " Gojo said.

"The curse you fought the other day?" Nanami asked.

"Yes!" Gojo gave a thumbs up.

"Could he be there?" Yuta asked as he gave Nanami's phone back to its owner.

"I doubt it. " Gojo said. He grabbed his phone from his pocket. "I gotta make some moves to catch our mouse. In the meantime, Nanami will do his thing and Yuta will watch Yuta from afar. Like planned. "

"How can you be sure he's not there?" Yuta asked.

"Look at it from this point of view. Why get so much attention on yourself like that? I cannot think of anything besides a test or a distraction. If it's the latter, we have to watch Yuji for obvious reasons and the traitor since they'll likely make a move. If it's the former then what for? No way to find out without checking it out first. I'll leave that to someone else for now." Gojo said right before teleporting away.

15 minutes after the meeting. At the Yanaka cemetery.

"Hummmm I do feel it. There's something here." Panda, the panda, said as he smelled the area.

"All right then let's take care of this fast and go back, Panda. We have to train Megumi and Kugisaki. " Maki, one of the second-year students from Jujutsu High, said as she pulled out her Naginata blade from its cover.

"Everyone has already evacuated, you're in the clear." One of the police officers said.

"I'll drop the veil then. Good luck." One of the support staff from Jujutsu High said.

They both entered the cemetery as the anti-media, anti-recording, and anti-people asking too many questions barrier dropped around the location. The place became dark and ripe with cursed energy making whatever curses were present inside the veil more pronounced.

The team made their way inside killing whatever curses they could find as they searched for their target.

"Panda. Where to?" Maki asked as she poked a small curse with her blade making it explode.

"Hummm it's difficult to say their cursed energy mingled with the veil and thinned out. It is either trying to ambush us or hiding from us. Must be a shy curse." Panda said. He jumped on top of the building and started to sniff around on all fours.

"Are you a dog now? Stop that." Maki asked.

"It feels more natural this. No judging." He replied as he walked around the roof.

"Found it. It's on the outside around the graves north of here. Come on." Panda said. They both jumped down and walked toward the direction he pointed out.

"The place seems a little too pristine for a cursed spirit who normal people can see. How come this curse didn't go around bashing everything and just stood in one place?" Maki said as she noticed that only a few of the graves were damaged and no one was reportedly killed.

"It's hard to predict how curses will behave, but maybe someone did something to it. This one seems like it's planning or at least capable of it meaning that we could have a Curse user on our hands. Be careful, Maki. " Panda said.

"Don't need to tell me. You be careful." Maki said as she hit Panda with a light punch.

"That hurts."

They walked a bit more until they were in between a few graves. As they made their way closer to a shadowy figure hiding behind a tree, they started to feel a significant amount of cursed energy starting to rise from it.

'What's with this cursed energy? It feels a bit off. Like its origin point is kilometers away from this curse.' Maki thought as she moved to flank the curse.

'From the density of the cursed energy, it's close third-grade curse? It's going to be easy. ' Panda thought as he then went in the opposite direction from Maki.
