Chapter 1: Defense Mechanism
“Are you scared?” He says with a smirk on his face. Like he thought something was funny.
“No, I'm just standing here with tears running down my face because I'm happy.” I say trying to hide my true feelings by being sarcastic.
Being sarcastic or funny in a serious situation is something I always do. I’m not good at keeping calm when under pressure and at this moment in my life I felt as if I needed to be as sarcastic and funny as I could. It’s what I’m good at it’s my normal.
“mmm.” he says as the smirk that was on his face quickly changed.
“Come here.” he says
“I’m close enough, I’m not moving any closer.”
The two mean behind him move closer and began to clutch what seems like a gun in their jacket pockets. Since I've never been in a situation like this, I decide to do what I'm told. I have dreams and goals and getting killed tonight would seal the deal on those dreams and goals.
“Get in the car...” he says without taking his eyes off me.
“There is no damn car.” I say like the dumb ass I am. The sarcastic side of me took over because I saw the car he was talking about. It was dark black and big. That’s obviously a bad choice of words but the point is I saw the car and I decided to act like I didn’t.
He just stood there. He obviously didn’t need to look around for the car he knew it was there and I knew it was there. He most likely didn’t find me amusing but I didn't care. I slowly walked over to the car. To show that I did whatever the hell I wanted to. Yeah, I was technically being kidnapped because of what I had witnessed but I didn’t care. I had to show him that he truly had no power over me.
How about we start 30 minutes before this all took place. Because there's nothing like a great back story.
