The Vampire Queen

Chapter Two

Greyson P.O.V

It was only meant to be a quick run in my wolf form before college, clearly my wolf had other plans when he decided to chase a damn rabbit through the trees. We finally stop at the edge of the territory and start to turn around when the smell hit me, sweet like mangos and completely taking over my senses.

"Mate!" my wolf screams at me and we glance around trying to find who the smell is coming from, but there was no one around and as quickly as the smell hit me it was gone, leaving only the faintest trace behind. I race through the trees, staying at the very edge of the territory trying to find the scent again in hopes that I could find her. If I could just get a glimpse of who she is.

After searching for what feels like forever my wolf whimpers, realizing that we have lost her. We head back to the Packhouse and quickly shift at the edge of the trees and pull on the shorts I left there.

"There you are man, you've been got for three hours, you better hurry up or we are going to be late for class" calls Colton as I walk over to the pack house. I pass my best friend and head up to my room and went to take a shower. I shower quickly and wrap a towel around my waist, feeling frustrated I walk into my room ignoring Colton whose lounging across my bed. I walk to my closet and quickly throw on a pair of jeans and a black shirt.

"What's up with you bro?" Colton sits up and rests his elbows on his knees while staring at me.

I sigh and sit in my desk chair.

"I think I found my mate" I mutter as I stare at the ground and run my hand over my face.

" That's great! Where is she? What her name?" he question while standing up and starting towards the door.

"I don't know, I couldnt even find her" I mutter as look up at him.

"I smelt her scent when I was out this morning but I have no clue where she is, I ran the whole perimeter of the territory trying to find her" I explain as I stand and frustratedly run my hand through my hair.

"Damn man, no wonder you in a mood, alright...look, after classes you, me and the others will go out and look for her. Don't worry we will find her, she can't be that far." He suggests as he comes to put a hand on my shoulder.

I nod and grab my bag and head out the door with him right behind me and we head to my truck and head off to the college campus.

"Damn that sucks man" Utters Logan after I tell him and Alec about my run that morning. I shrug in response as we head in to the college building and start walking down the hall towards our first lecture. As we walk into the lecture hall the three of them ahead of me and we start to walk to the back of the hall to where we usually sit. Im about to sit in my seat and that's when the scent hits me. That intoxicating scent.

She's here.

I turn and race to the door following the scent into the hallway where there are still students walking to their first lecture of the day. I search the crowded hallway trying to see the person who has consumed my thoughts all morning.

That's when I spot her, black hair cascading down to her waist softly blowing in the breeze form the open door. Every one else starts to fade away as I try to navigate the crowd, never taking my eyes off of her. Im so close , my hearts starts pounding and my breathing shaky as the scent gets stronger the closer I get to her. I stop a couple feet away from her and try to calm down my racing heart and try to think of what to say to her.

Her back stiffens and she glances back at me.

I hold my breath as my gaze is caught in hers. Those eyes. They are magnificent, one the colour of raging flames, uncontroled anger and the other of a calming lake.

They stare back at me as if seeing right through to my soul, seeing me, the real me.

I look down at the floor and try to get my emotions under control. How is it I can face rouges and vampires without a care in the world but I can't even look my mate in the eye?

"Its because she sees the real us" my wolf answers and I take a deep breath.

"go to mate" he huffs at me, wanting to be close to her.

I take another breath and look up expecting to she those eyes again only to see that she's turned around and is running out the door.

Dread fills me as I realize I could lose her again before I even got to know her name. The slamming of the door snaps me out of my thoughts and I burst out the door slamming it against the wall and startling a nearby couple.

Ignoring their angry words I scan the crowded path looking for her black hair. I catch a whiff of her scent and follow it down the path frantically scanning the heads for her. That's when I spot her near the end of the path racing towards a man leaning against a motorbike, a cigarette hanging from his lips. I start forward and watch as she says something to him and he pulls her into a hug. Scanning the crowd for what ever upset her.

That's when his scrowl lands on me and I growl. I know him, he's a vampire from a nearby clan. For as long as I can remember there has been a peace pact between them and our pack. I growl and start quickly walking forward as he climbs on the bike as I start to get closer she puts on her helmet and climbs on behind him. Just as I reach the edge of the path they drive off. I run my hands through my hair frustrated and start to head back into the campus building wondering why she was with him and where they could of gone.
