I looked around as the soldiers walked out of the room to do as Daniel had just instructed them to do, and I crawled on my knees towards him and held my hands together in a pleading gesture.
“You can’t do this to me, Daniel. I wasn’t going to do anything. I wasn’t doing anything, I swear. You don’t want to do this, please. I never killed your father, and I definitely was not going to kill your mother,” I tried hard to get them to believe me, but I could tell that it would result to nothing.
“Maybe when you’re gone, we’ll be sure of a little bit of safety instead of debating it while you’re still here,” Daniel said with finality in his voice as Nathan grabbed me by the arm and pulled me up from the floor.
