Day 13-4

1818 Words
After the news of how Sera came to be at Red Sun Pack, Theo had no doubt that she was more than meets the eye. No normal human could endure what Sera had been through snd then survive all those years. On that note: “How many years were you there for?” “Ah remember our agreement. You ask a question; I ask a question.” Sera smirked, and went to refill everyone’s drinks. “Fire away.” She settled herself back down by the window, the storm easing away gently. “I know you are from around here Bella, so how did you get here?” “Simple answer, I woke up here.” Sera liked her humour. “Seriously, I did. I presume Doc told you all about me and him?” Sera nodded. “Well after he left, I went home. And along my way I was ambushed by a couple of rogue wannabes. Barely out of their shifting phase, they didn’t realise I was the daughter of a Gamma.” “Gamma?” Sera was surprised. “Yes, I’m surprised Doc didn’t tell you. My mother was Gamma before she was killed. It’s something that connects me and Theo here, both our mothers were Gammas and both were killed by Rogues.” Bella nudged Theo’s side. There was a deep friendship between those two, Sera saw her and Doc almost. Apart from Bella and Theo acted more like brother and sister, Doc and Sera acted more like father and rather impudent and misbehaving child. “I dealt with them and went on my merry way, the problem was I had no idea where I was. I had been out searching with Doc, trying to track down the Rogues who killed my mother. Doc had always said he wanted to find his people, he was an orphan and although he was adopted into his Pack he always yearned yearned a place to truly call home. He had been talking about it and then one day he just left. He was the navigator and had the only map, so I walked in the direction of the sun and kept going.” This didn’t surprise Sera, for she knew why Doc left Bella, and why he never went back to her. “I came across this rather quaint little village, found a decent pub, got myself a drink and try to figure out how way home. I heard of a Pack not far from where this pub was and knew they’d be able to give me a way home, they were called Azure Moon. I was coming up on the outskirts when I heard a commotion in the woods, it sounded like a fight. Probably a few Omegas jostling about, I’d see what they were up to. What I found was a group of 13 Rogues, in wolf form, and one cocky son of an Alpha, in human form, who was looking rather sorry for himself.” “Why do you always make it sound like I was getting my ass handed to me?” Theo interjected. “Maybe because you were!” Taunted Bella. “They weren’t playing fair, and they knew who he was. Kept goading him ‘come on Alpha wannabe, come get us. Can’t fight like your Daddy can you?’” Sera looked at Theo, who had his Alpha tone on. The one where you couldn’t find a weak link, a proud tone. One used to hide how you were feeling most times. “She was honest with us, Theo.” He simply nodded and Bella continued. “We were still miles from Pack Territory and in no man’s land, no-one was coming to help him. It seemed more like he had been jumped returning from somewhere.” Bella paused for a moment and realised something. “You never did tell me where you were coming from that day, the Alpha of a Pack and you went off alone.” “You’re right, I didn’t.” He sternly replied. Bella shrugged her shoulders. “I know better to push. Back to me saving your life.” “You? You saved his life?” More surprise, Theo by all accounts was a strong Alpha. One of the strongest, and Sera couldn’t see the daughter of a Gamma being able to fend off 16 attackers. “Yes.” Bella Grinned. “As the 13 were circling, I noticed that these weren’t your average Rogues, these were on a mission. I tried to find out later if anyone sent them but it was a dead end. They were more likely the remnants of some small Pack that were trying their luck in strength of numbers. Theo had killed a few but they were many and he was getting weaker.” “I had only just taken the Alpha title. My parents had passed away a few months before and although I had trained my whole life, to be thrown into Lordship without someone’s guiding hand. Normally it is handed down when the child of an Alpha finds their mate and a new Alpha and Luna are crowned. That didn’t happen in my instance, I hadn’t sorted my officers and my pack was in array after the attack. I was young, inexperienced...” Bella layer a hand on his shoulder. “And brave. You fought with all you had to stop them coming onto your territory. Hell if you hadn’t killed the next one with your bare hands I might have carried on walking.” She turned back to Sera. “I saw a fire in him, one that no matter how hard he was beaten down, he would stand back up and fight. Weakened to the point of not being able to shift and still managing to kill a fully grown Lycan with his bare hands... woo.” Bella whistled. “This boy had fight. So I jumped in, whooped a little ass myself and the remaining 6 just scattered. It was exhilarating. I was so hyped up I hadn’t even shifted, so I didn’t notice the knife in my side until I collapsed to the floor.” “Goddess... and you woke up here?” “Yep, Theo here apparently carried me all the way back. Plonked me down in the infirmary before promptly passing out himself.” Bella swigged back her drink. “He made me his Beta, we strengthened the pack, I got him to promote Peter, who was a heck of a fighter, as his dad was Gamma before him. He still helps out with training the recruits. The rest is history.” “Wow. Sounds like you two have quite a history too.” Bella admired the camaraderie between them, regardless of ranks, they were still just 2 friends who depended on each other. “Yeah, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Well maybe a few things.” Joked Theo. “So.” He clapped his hands to his legs. “How many years were you there Sera?” “Ha!” Bella bellowed. “A touching story about how we met, and you paid no attention.” “I’ve heard the story many times Bella, in fact I lived it so no didn’t really need to pay attention.” He teased back. Bella stuck her tongue out and Sera laughed. She had never seen quote an innocent display of joy between 2 grown ass adults, well yes she had actually after all she did live with Clara and Helena. “How about we give Sera a moment huh? A chance to digest and breathe before you interrogate her some more?” A noise outside the door took Sera’s attention aware from Bella and Theo’s bickering. “Guys?” Sera tried to get their attention. “Bella(!) Theo(!)” They stopped and looked at her. “I don’t think we’re alone.” She whispered and pointed to the door. And awkward shuffle outside and a tell tale giggle relaxed Seras shoulders. “Stand down Bella.” As Sera noticed she had her hand on her trusty knife. And as Sera opened the door: “I can’t go anyone alone.” And the group fell through the open door like some sort of cartoon scene. “Will you get off me?!” Came a muffled ordered from under the pile. “I would if H got off me.” Whined Clara and Helena lifted herself off. “Not my fault, it was George who Giggled and gave us away!” Helena helped Clara up as the giggling George skipped in happily. “It was funny hearing an Alpha and Beta argue like little children, how could I help laughing?” “By not laughing.” Gladed Doc as he dusted himself off. “Rhetorical dear Doc, it was rhetorical.” George pointed out as he patted Docs knee. Sera glanced at then all, hand on her hip, awaiting an explanation. They looked amongst themselves before all eyes settled on Doc. “We saw you walk in here with Theo, and then Bella. We heard the storm and George got worried. So, we came to check on you.” He pleaded innocence and nudged George’s head when he went to protest that it wasn’t his idea. “How did you get here without anyone questioning you, or without us hearing you?” Bella hadn’t removed her hand from her knife, a fact that wasn’t lost on Doc or Sera. “That’s a rather interesting question. Sera?” Doc turned to her. She Sighed and rubbed the bridge of her nose. “We were trained at Red Sun in the ways of war. How to attack, kill, hunt. And part of that was how to be silent. A skill that proved quite useful many times. “ “But even a creak of a floorboard we would hear?” Theo pointed out. “Just to be clear Sera, Lycan hearing can go for miles. We could hear a pin literally drop if we listened for it. “At the Red Sun Pack you either completed the task, or were punished for it. So believe me Theo, we are quite skilled in not wanting to get beaten.” There was a seriousness to her voice that took the joy out the room. “I’m sorry, that was a bit direct.” “Come on guys, Seras fine, let’s go back.” Doc tried to usher them out the room before Clara snaked round his arm. “Is it true the Guild are coming to take us away?” There was a fear in her eyes. “They are coming, but not to take you away Clara. I promise you.” He clasped her shoulders. “You’re safe here.” Those were 3 words they had all heard before, and didn’t trust them then either.
