Day 10-2

Theo was sat in his office, sorting through the paperwork of all the newcomers into his Pack. Sat on the right side was Bella nursing, a very expensive bottle of whiskey. Peter, his Gamma, was checking the outskirts of the land to ensure no others were still making their way. After the siege, rescue, and suitable capture of the Red Suns Pack he had Lycan Guild fillings galore to fill in to explain what happened, who was there, who did what, how many got out and where they are now. The 3 remaining Pack members left alive were taken to Crimson Flood Pack for interrogation, for he did not envy their job. As one of the largest packs he took most in, least among them his presumed mate, what could be Kristopher’s mate who was so closely accompanied by a sweet, blonde-haired beauty with a child in tow. He reminisced about when they first met. ************************************************************************** He never suspected that when he came upon his mate in the Red Sun Pack, she would so quickly pronounce who she was; 'Katrina Davenport, pleasure to meet you, I'm your mate.' He couldn't deny an instant attraction, but that was very different to a mate connection. He was always told it would feel like a movie; the world stops and all you can see is them and your life together flashes before your eyes, and you know from that first look. So, imagine his surprise when he regrouped with Bella and the rest of the survivors that he felt an instant connection to one of them. She was kelt cradling a bloodied and beaten human, tears streaming down her face and all he wanted was to scoop her up and take her away. She was begging with an old man who was working feverishly to stop the bleeding on this human. To her side a small boy, probably around 6 or 7, almost her mirror image clinging to her arm hiding from the horror in front of him. "Mummy, please don't let her go. Please.” The boy sobbed. A son. "She's bleeding too badly Lucy, I don't know-" said the old man. Lucy. A simply beautiful name for a simply perfect woman. "Doc, she can't go like this." Lucy pleaded. "Bella?" Doc turned to Theos’ Beta. Did they know one another? "Any healers, herbs, medicinal among your people?" "None more fitted than you Nathaniel." Bella stood behind the man called Doc, the rest of the Packs further away by the gates all seeming to find out what happened. Theo recognised the name Nathaniel, it was the man who fixed, stole and then broke Bellas’s heart years ago, before she was his Beta. How did he come to be here? Theos inner thought was disrupted by a squeal to his side. "Don't save her! She's that devil's mate. She conspired to kill us, she's his w***e!" Katrina went lunging towards the group, Bella was a split quicker than Theo and had her hand to Katrinas throat. “And who might you be to demand such an act?” Bella squeezed tighter. “I’m your Luna.” Squeaked out Katrina. “Alpha?” Bella raised an eyebrow to Theo, expectant for an explanation. It was at this point that Lucy had lifted her focus from the woman in her arms, her eyes caught Theos and he swore he could sense a want, no a need to go running to him, but a groan from the woman snapped Lucy back. “Release her Bella. And answer who these people are.” Theo went striding towards the group, perching to Docs side fighting all urge to look at Lucy. Bella very reluctantly released her grip and Katrina went crumbling to the floor, coughing and gasping. “Nathaniel Rossi; doctor, healer by trade. Lucy Barnes; a Lycan captive of Red Sun Pack and Seraphim; a human captive of Red Sun Pack.” She hadn’t turned her gaze from the collapsed Katrina, sure Bella wanted her Luna but not to meet her in such circumstances or for her to feel a hatred, a feeling of question about her. Of course Theo hadn’t confirmed or denied it yet. “I recognise your name Nathaniel. If the stories are anything to go by then you would be the best to help.” Doc didn’t respond, he was tearing off pieces of clothing trying to pack, torniquet, apply pressure to wounds. “Does this Seraphim mean a lot to you?” He looked to Lucy, her eyes didn’t meet his but were full of tears. She simply nodded. He stood and turned to Bella. “The Alpha of Crimson Flood has already taken the surviving members of the Red Sun Pack for questioning. Bella, arrange for all surviving captives to be sent to Shadow Bane. But leave these three to come with us.” “What about her?” Bella gestured towards Katrina, now accompanied by 2 other Lycans, of which Bella got the same feeling. Bella stepped closer to Theo. “She claims as my Luna but…” He whispered. She could tell by his face, and by his instinctive turn towards the sweet Lucy that he wasn’t sold on that claim. “We take all back to Azure Moon then Alpha. Discuss it further there, away from prying ears and eyes.” Theo nodded in agreement. *************************************************************************** Lucy never once left Sera’s side on the journey back to Azure Moon territory. Once Sera and Doc were set up in the hospital there was nothing left to do but to wait. Theo had Katrina and her friends set up in a house on the other side of the Pack, it was clear that Katrina didn’t think very much of this human Sera, but Lucy almost acted like it was a dear friend or even sister. “What’s taken your thoughts?” Bella questioned, breaking Theo from his thoughts. “These reports. The Guild are asking pointless repetitious questions, almost like they are trying to find out something specific but do not wish to form the exacting of their words.” “Hmm. They never used to bother so much with their requests. Perhaps it something else, or someone else?” Bella mused. Theo placed the paperwork down and sighed heavily. He could speak openly and honestly with Bella, if you couldn’t with the person who saved your life who else could you? “This Katrina, what do you make of her?” He saw Bella take a heavy swallow. “That good huh?” “Beta or Bella?” She questioned. A Beta would respond far differently than Bella would, and he knew this. And he wasn’t look forward to hearing what either had to say. “Bella” She stood, refilled her glass then walked over to sit in front of him at his desk. Took a heavy sigh, downed her drink and braved it. “She’s an entitled egomaniac. One who looks for any opening of power to usurp control and abuse any power she has given. She has an air of self-importance, over inflated by those 2 shadows that follow her about. Wishing to be her copies in almost every way. In all my years I have never questioned the Goddesses, but if they’ve chosen her as your Luna I would say you’ve done something to piss them off.” Theo simply nodded. “And Lucy?” Her name was sweet on his lips. Bella smiled. “Gentle soul, sees the good in almost everybody, won’t raise her hand in anger. Some think her naïve or stupid, but she is incredibly smart and intuitive. But always has her guard up, only time I’ve seen it weaken is with that human Sera.” “What was a human doing there?” Theo pondered. “We’ve all been trying to guess the same, but Nathaniel and Lucy both answer the same when questioned. ‘It is her tale to tell’. Makes it difficult as Katrina is talking, telling stories and tales about what happened in that Manor and the role everyone played. And Sera doesn’t take a very good light in most of these stories. Without her waking I feel no one is telling the other side of the story.” “Has Lucy said anything about her connection to Sera?” “Nope. Far as we can all tell they are incredibly close. When Sera fell it was Lucy who got to her first, catching her a split second before the ground did. There’s a deep bond between those two, deeper than friends, sweeter than lovers, but stronger than family.” There was a knock at the door as an Omega came bursting through, breathless and sweaty. "What's so important for you to interrupt?!" Theo roared. "Seraphims awake." The Omega responded. Bella remained calm, taking a sip of her whiskey and engaging her Alpha's response. Theo waved the Omega away. Bella had been by Theos side for many years now, in many ways they were like brother and sister; argued like them, confined in each other, and annoyed each other like so. She could tell he was torn. "You can ask her directly now." Bella suggested, Theo offered no response, so she continued. "Of course, if she is awake, then Doc will be by her side, and if Doc is by her side, then so too will Helena, Clara and... " She lifted her eyes from her drink and purposefully stared Theo down. "... Lucy" Theo tensed. Bella smiled. It was always fun to annoy him. "After all these years..." Theo mused over how many failed attempts to find his mate over the years had now led him to 2 incredibly different women. "Poor, pity me. Handsome powerful Alpha reduced to choose between 2 beautiful mates" Teased Bella. "I know who'd I choose," She muttered not quietly enough. "Who?" "It's an obvious choice, Lucy." Theo tutted and strode across his office to the window, overlooking the hospital at the edge of his manors' grounds. Bella knew him well enough. "George takes after her from what I can tell, even in the short space of time they've been with us. He shares her smile and laughter, her care, and is perhaps too smart for his own good. Who cares who his father is?" "They will." Theo gestured towards the village that housed his Pack. A small city or town is a better fitting word. It had grown strong in morale and numbers under his guidance. “The other Alphas. Some will see it as a sign of weakness to take a luna already with cub, let alone a mere Omegas cub." Bella scoffed. "It's unlikely Lucy chose the father." Wrong words. In one stride, Theo was across the room, held her against the wall, hand round her throat, gripping tightly. "Do.Not.Remind.Me." He hissed through gritted teeth. His Alpha eyes cooled down to their mellow hazel colour, and he released his vice like grip. Theo collapsed himself into his chair, head in his hands. "Sorry, Bella.” She caught her breath, stood up, and poured herself another drink. "My bad, poor choice of words." And she downed the drink in one. "My point stands, though. Neither Lucy nor George deserve to be treated less because of things outside their control." "I know. Things were easier before we knew what Kristopher was doing. Did you know?" "Of course I didn't! What fool do you take me for you stupid, ignorant-" "About Nathaniel. Doc." Theo interrupted her rant. She calmed, and a look of disappointment flashed across her face. "No. If I knew he was there, I would have done something sooner. I would have got there sooner." She fought back tears. "The last I saw of him, he was going to look for his 'people', healers like him. I never should have let him go." The air was thick between the two of them, there were 3 creatures in their pack who owed them many questions. “Well Beta, I propose we go introduce ourselves to our new guests. And get some answers at the same time.” Theo smiled, stood proud. He was the Alpha after all, and no one would break his command.
