Chapter 39: The Turning of the War

721 Words
The battlefield had never felt so alive with power. Wind howled across the northern plains as silver light spread from Aria’s body, pushing back the smoke and darkness that had covered the battlefield moments before. Lycan soldiers stared in amazement. The Moon-Bound had returned. Behind her stood the ancient guardians—Lunaris, the silver wolf of the moon, and Thalor, the colossal serpent rising like a living wave from the battlefield’s shattered ground. Their presence alone changed the atmosphere of the war. For the first time since the battle began, hope surged through the Lycan army. Kael slowly pushed himself up from the ground. Pain shot through his body, but when he looked up and saw Aria standing there surrounded by silver light, relief filled his chest. “You made it…” he muttered quietly. Aria glanced toward him. Her glowing eyes softened slightly when she saw he was still alive. Then she turned back toward the sky. Dravoryx hovered above the battlefield, his massive wings spreading shadows across the plains. His golden eyes gleamed with dark excitement. “Well, well…” His voice echoed like thunder. “The Moon-Bound returns to the battlefield.” Aria stepped forward, her silver aura growing stronger. “You wanted to test my power.” Her voice was calm but filled with determination. “Now you will face it.” Dravoryx chuckled. “Oh, I fully intend to.” But before the Devourer could attack again, Lunaris leaped forward. The massive guardian wolf moved with blinding speed, launching himself toward Dravoryx with a powerful roar. Their collision shook the sky. Silver energy and dark fire exploded outward as the two ancient creatures clashed in midair. Thalor followed immediately. The sea guardian surged across the battlefield, his massive body twisting through the air like a storm as he joined the fight. The Devourer suddenly found himself facing two guardians again. And this time— They had come prepared. Dravoryx roared as Lunaris slashed across his armored scales. The Devourer responded with a blast of dark fire, forcing the silver wolf back. But before Dravoryx could recover, Thalor’s enormous body wrapped around him again, forcing the creature downward. The three titans crashed into the ground with devastating force. The impact sent shockwaves through the battlefield. Lycan soldiers and rebel wolves alike were thrown backward as dust exploded into the air. Magnus watched the clash from his position on the ridge. His expression was no longer calm. “This wasn’t supposed to happen yet,” he muttered. One of his lieutenants looked nervous. “My Alpha… the guardians are turning the battle.” Magnus clenched his jaw. “I can see that.” Across the battlefield, the Lycan soldiers began pushing forward again. With the guardians fighting Dravoryx, the corrupted beasts suddenly seemed far less terrifying. Kael lifted his sword again. “Push them back!” he shouted. His warriors responded immediately. The Lycan army surged forward with renewed strength, forcing the rebel forces to retreat step by step. Meanwhile, at the center of the battlefield, Aria stood with her eyes fixed on the clash between the guardians and the Devourer. The power of the Moon-Bound pulsed within her like a rising storm. She could feel every movement of the battle. Every surge of power. Every moment of danger. Lunaris’ voice echoed inside her mind. Now. Aria understood instantly. The guardians were creating an opening. They were giving her a chance. She stepped forward. Silver symbols began forming beneath her feet as the Moon-Bound power gathered around her body. The air itself seemed to glow. Dravoryx noticed immediately. The Devourer forced Thalor away with a burst of dark flames and lifted his head toward Aria. His golden eyes narrowed. “So this is your plan.” Aria raised her hands. Silver energy gathered between them like a growing star. “This war ends today.” Dravoryx laughed. “You really believe that?” His wings spread wide again. “Then show me what the Moon-Bound can do.” The two ancient powers faced each other across the battlefield. Moonlight against darkness. Hope against destruction. And as the silver energy around Aria grew brighter and brighter… Every warrior on the battlefield realized something. The fate of the entire kingdom was about to be decided in the next few moments.
